The United States may be directly involved in the spread of COVID-19 around the world. This was stated by the head of the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCBZ) of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Igor Kirillov. As confirmation of his words, he notes that in 2019, a year before the global coronavirus pandemic, the United States conducted the Event 201 exercises to combat the spread of coronavirus infection. 

“The development of the COVID-19 pandemic precisely according to this scenario raises questions about its deliberate nature, the involvement of the United States in this incident. Including the true goals of American bioprograms aimed at enhancing the properties of dangerous pathogens,” Igor Kirillov emphasized during the briefing. He stressed that the high readiness of American vaccine manufacturers for the start of a pandemic also raises questions. 

He clarifies that in 2019, the Event 201 exercise was held at New York University. The situation was used as a legend when an unknown (at that time) coronavirus was transferred from a bat to a person. Also, Kirillov notes, recommendations were made during the exercises in case a virus with enhanced pathogenicity and transmission properties was obtained during the experiments. The Ministry of Defense also emphasized that, based on an analysis of documents on the study of biological activity in the United States, Washington has been conducting similar experiments since 2015. 

Earlier, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) adopted a statement on the inadmissibility of the development of toxin and biological weapons. As for the danger of COVID-19, scientist, President of the Kurchatov Institute Mikhail Kovalchuk suggested that humanity could die from a strain of coronavirus with a mortality rate of 90%.
