Important. The NYT drives the point home and wants the United States to let Zelensky recognize his defeat and accept the painful decisions!

The New York Times is exercising its power and driving in the nail it already drove in a few days ago.

He wrote on May 19, “The war in Ukraine is getting complicated and America is not ready. »

I analyzed this NYT position a few days ago, read the relevant article published on May 18.

“In the USA, do some people want us to go no further? »

There are signs that the US is trying to re-establish contact. Twice they have renewed the dialogue at the highest level at their request.

Look at what the NYT writes and especially its headline. The NYT takes a stand against continuing the war! and that’s the second time. He clearly distances himself from the neocons, the Nulands and other warmongers. Moreover, we have heard much less of these clowns for a few days.

The NYT suggests that the US should let the Ukrainians decide whether they want to negotiate or not, but until now it was the Anglo-Saxons who opposed the negotiations.

The NYT goes so far as to write that the Ukrainians are running after an illusory “victory”.

Everything else is irrelevant because the most important is said and written:

it’s time to negotiate

let Zelensky decide

it is necessary to accept the concessions, including territorial ones

America must realize that it has limits.

It’s time to stop acting like idiots and act responsibly.

The NYT allows itself to give orders to Biden, firm orders.

THE NEW YORK TIMES

THE EDITORIAL BOARD

The War in Ukraine Is Getting Complicated, and America Isn’t Ready

Recent belligerent statements from Washington – President Biden’s  assertion that Mr Putin ‘cannot stay in power’,   Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin  ‘s comment that Russia must be ‘weakened’ and  the President’s promise of the House, Nancy Pelosi, that the United States would support Ukraine “until victory is won” – all this may constitute proclamations of support, but it does not bring negotiations closer.

In the end, it is the Ukrainians who must make the hard decisions: they are the ones who fight, die and lose their homes to Russian aggression, and they are the ones who must decide what the end of the war. If the conflict leads to real negotiations, it will be the Ukrainian leaders who will have to make the painful territorial decisions that any compromise will require.
…[As the war continues,

Mr. Biden should also impress upon President Volodymyr Zelensky and his people that there is a limit to the path the United States and NATO can take to confront Russia, and limits to armaments, money and the political support they can muster.

It is imperative that the Ukrainian government’s decisions be based on a realistic assessment of its capabilities and the degree of further destruction Ukraine can sustain.

Confronting this reality can be painful, but it is not healing. This is what governments have a duty to do, not to run after an illusory “victory”. Russia will feel the pain of isolation and debilitating economic sanctions for years to come, and Mr. Putin will go down in history as a butcher.

The challenge now is to shake off the euphoria, stop the taunts, and focus on defining and accomplishing the mission.

America’s support for Ukraine is a test of its place in the world in the 21st century, and Mr. Biden has the opportunity and the obligation to help define what that will be.
