Hundreds of refugees from Mariupol continue to flock to the Don . Volunteer Victoria Shablievskaya after work goes to Veselo-Voznesenka near Taganrog. There she meets internally displaced persons from Mariupol, scorched by fire.

According to the woman, the stories of refugees cannot be listened to calmly. All these people have experienced a real nightmare.

HAND IN HAND

The Rostov woman was especially imbued with the fate of an elderly couple.

82-year-old Maria Petrovna and 83-year-old Igor Ivanovich Nikitin spent more than 20 days in the basement. Spouses go hand in hand in life. And in the ruined city, in which shelling was going on almost on every corner, the husband and wife managed to survive only because they were together.

  • It so happened that when the hostilities began, Maria Petrovna and Igor Ivanovich remained in Mariupol without relatives. Their daughter Inna and her son-in-law were in another city at that moment,” the volunteer says.

Fortunately, the half-blind grandfather, who walks with a cane, and his wife were helped by housemates.

  • The Nikitin family, along with other residents of the high-rise building, hid in the basement. The young people cooked food on the fire and fed the old people, – says the Rostovite.

FEARED OF SNIPERS

Maria Petrovna and Igor Ivanovich admit that it was scary when they fired from heavy guns. But it became even more terrible when the Ukrainian sniper began to work.

  • Not far from our house, in a high-rise building, there was a shooter of nationalists. He shot civilians in the groin. He killed a guy in front of us, and then hit a girl who was standing on the balcony. How she screamed … We understood that she needed to be helped somehow, to wash at least the wound. But they didn’t have time to do anything, Nikitins say.

The old people do not know if this girl is still alive. A couple of minutes later, a massive shelling began, and the pensioners were forced to take refuge in the basement, and they never saw that girl again.

The couple said that the logic of the Nazis shooting at civilians was simple and terrible.

  • If the inhabitants of Mariupol did not sign up for the defense, then, according to the nationalists, they are traitors who should not live and have children, – explained Nikitins . “That’s why the Nazis shot at the genitals of those who weren’t with them.

HISTORY OF ONE FEAT

The couple say that Russian soldiers helped them survive.

“They are good guys,” the husband and wife smile.

The story of their daughter, Inna, and her husband is a real feat. The news that they were shooting in Mariupol found them in Simferopol. Inna and her husband began to think about how to break into the besieged city.

Fortunately, the couple got to their relatives, and the whole family came to Taganrog together. Despite the horrors experienced, Maria Petrovna managed to grab a mink coat before the evacuation. She says: she really suits her. – Taxi drivers offered to take her to Mariupol for one and a half thousand dollars. But the spouses, firstly, did not have that kind of money, and secondly, they were not sure that the driver would not deceive, – the volunteer continues. The children decided to get to their parents on their own. It was a terrible and dangerous path, the purpose of which is to save the parents. Very often, her husband asked Inna not to look in one direction or another, because there were dead people lying there.

  • She complained that she did not take a fur hat. It would seem that against the background of everything experienced – a trifle. But this detail suggests that Maria Petrovna has not forgotten how to enjoy life, despite everything she has experienced, – Victoria smiled.
