Does anyone know anything about Kazakhstan which is part of Russia? The reason I asked is that I visit a Christian site and the following was written:

“Something is going down in Kazakhstan! Yesterday a Brother in Christ called me from Kazakhstan. This Brother in the Lord has been flying for an airline out of Kazakhstan for some time now. Yesterday I was informed that the airline he has been flying for in Kazakhstan told him he had to get out of Kazakhstan. I was also informed by this Brother the government took his working visa away from him, and told him he had to leave Kazakhstan by Wednesday or face going to jail. This Brother could not take anything with him. Either he left all his possessions or face jail. … I was also informed that the airline told all the American pilots flying for this airline to take a two week vacation starting right away. I asked my Brother in the Lord, why did they tell everyone to take a vacation at once. I was told that the airline did not give them a reason. The Brother I spoke with was the last one left in Kazakhstan. As of today according to what my Brother told me, there are no American pilots flying planes for this airline in Kazakhstan.”

He states in his email that “I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO PULL UP YOUR WEBSITE FROM EITHER OF YOUR TWO SITES ANYMORE, MY EMAIL ACCOUNTS ARE FROZEN FOR HOURS ON END EACH DAY, AND SOMEONE HAS COME INTO OUR APARTMENT AND DELETED OR FORMATTED ALL THE FILES FROM OUR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES.”

I sure hated to see the way that Melisa over reacted so badly….I was the only one that was skeptical of the motive behind the Beck post and I explained myself and my position clearly….I don’t think that I did it in a nasty way and even made a final post stating that “her intentions were probably as good as gold”, but that I just didn’t know her well enough to fully trust.

I didn’t recognize the screen name, “Melisa” at first, but after her last post here I do recognize the SN, “Missyworld” and I was right, her intentions were good.

With that said, Melisa, please don’t make a mountain out of a mole hill….Not a single person here, including me, has a problem with you being here and no one wants you to leave….Hang out and post more often….Go back and read all the posts again if you need to, but more objectively….Nobody was disparaging you…All blogs get infiltrated from time to time by Obots with bad intentions and I simply didn’t recognize you at the time….Go read them again with an open mind…Thanks.

    Ouch, what happened?

Honestly, when I first saw Melisa’s post in moderation I hesitated before I approved her post.

I really did use to be a very trusting soul.

You know I do believe that a part of how I perceive Obama to be has been affected by how I and others have been treated unfairly by the Obots.

Having said that I am sorry for how Melisa feels and hope that she comes back.

Not only that Rose, but he and the Obots have brought back racism. I am proud that Americans have come so far in that respect. I am like MLK in that I judge a person by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin. I am from the deep South and I remember those days of old quite well. It really upsets me to no end when they throw the race card on the table.

They take their cues from their dear leader…Obama has a serious hang up about race….That makes him a racist…In fact he is the chief racist…I trully believe that he is in a state of self loathing due to the fact that he is half white and is now taking out his racist frustrations on the rest of the country…He is a sick puppy.

SUPERINTENDENT OF THE NATION’S 5TH LARGEST SCHOOL DISTRICT TO STUDENTS REGARDING OBAMA ADDRESS: “YOU DON’T GET TO GO OUT IN THE HALL”….”YOU’RE THERE AND YOU’RE SILENT”

Broward Public Schools Superintendent, James Notter, rocking the Ft. Lauderdale tuxedo…..an over-stylized, painfully tight, Ed Hardy T-shirt
    ————————————————————————————————————
Broward Public Schools is the Fifth largest school district in the country. It is located in SE Florida…the nations capital of… men in their 50’s rocking shirts designed for boys in their teens, silicone implants, barbed-wire arm tattoos, Congresswomen who resemble carrot top, and the states largest concentration of Democrats….

Being that Broward houses the states largest concentration of self-proclaimed “liberals” one would think that tolerance, and open-mindedness would permeate through the school district, and civil disobedience would not only be tolerated, but actually encouraged…..

But, surprisingly, an article in today’s South Florida Sun-Sentinel, points out the opposite, below is a snippet:

In Broward County, students in the public schools won’t have a choice.

Broward Schools Superintendent James Notter wrote in a memo to principals Thursday that students will not be allowed to opt out of viewing Obama’s address. The district has encouraged civics education through programs such as Kids Voting Broward and by watching presidential inaugural addresses, Notter wrote, so letting students skip Obama’s speech “does not align with our practices and responsibility to provide a well-rounded, quality education for all students.”

That doesn’t mean all school activities will cease during Obama’s talk. Notter said schools can record the address and watch it later if the broadcast time conflicts with previously scheduled tests, field trips or other events.

In his opinion, Notter said in an interview, having children listen to the country’s elected leader “is some of the purest of civics education.” Letting them choose whether to not to attend would set a bad precedent, Notter said. He compared it to students who might object to saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

“You don’t get to go out into the hall,” Notter said. “You’re there and you’re silent.”

PERSONAL NOTE: a co-worker of my wife, who has two children attending school in the district, called the school district to confirm, and was told unequivocally, that if his children were not in attendance, they would be punished.

And so while I retire with little hope for the near-term viability of the party I’ve spent my life building, I retire with a quiet satisfaction that after witnessing the struggle of democracy over communism and fascism, the fear I once held that America might not rise to meet this new challenge of terrorism has vanished like a fog under the radiance of a new dawn.

While the threat is still real, the shadow looming across a promising future is gone.

And the credit for that goes to one man.

Like the last lion of England, Winston Churchill, George W. Bush has stood alone and risked all to give the world a new, clearer path to the advancement of freedom.

Abraham Lincoln, in his second annual message to Congress, stated:

“In giving freedom to the slave, we assure freedom for the free — honorable alike in what we give and what we preserve. We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last, best hope of earth.”

George Bush has injected into a region of enslavement an incurable dose of freedom, and thus nobly saved that “last, best hope of earth” — free men.

Obama Propaganda Books Your Kid Is Expected To Read
    by DefendUSx September 03, 2009 17:26
    SNIP:

Obama’s speech to the children of the land looms on September 8th. Many in the public are rightly wary of the material, designed by the White House, for kids to explore most things Obama. Trust me, the speech itself will be a flowery, encouraging, innocuous sentiment from the Prez. Obama supporters will say the controversy is much ado about nothing. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The White House had to scratch a line from the required teaching materials today; students now won’t have to determine how they can help Obama. DOE officials and the administration are hoping that this small bone will placate the critics. What they AREN’T publicizing, however, is the fact that your kids are expected to read propaganda books about Obama as a complement to the big talk.

Here is a look at 2 of them: Barack Obama: Son Of Promise, Child Of Hope and another titled simply Barack. Try to keep your lunch down.

Barack Obama: Son Of Promise, Child of Hope is full of gems like this:

“His mama, white as whipped cream; his daddy, black as ink…”

“He was there in Chicago because he cared about these people. They were his family. People in Kenya were his family. Indonesians were his family. And no matter where he was, the world was his home. And who he was could be summed up in one word: loveable.”
Here are some more from this great reason to home-school:

“When Barack wasn’t studying he liked to jog along the Hudson River. He couldn’t help but notice the river of hurt and hate and history that separated blacks and whites. Being both, he could not take sides. Don’t worry, said Hope. I will be your bridge. In time you will be the bridge for others.”
Reverend Wright gets a nod, as his is the only Chicago church Obama ever attended:

When his classes came to an end, he raced to Chicago to join hands with the church, to learn new lessons: Not how to be black or white, but how to be a healer, how to change things, how to make a difference in the world.

A healer who paid his dues as a Community Organizer.

I hope you catch a few good ones and get back before our republic implodes. Btw, I like red snapper. Caught mine in the Atlantic. My favorite is sea bass however. I love tuna, but found them to be too much of a pain to clean and cook. Anyway, we’ll hold down the fort while you play and relax.

Btw, if Melissa is that sensitive, I see that as her problem. She needs to learn to be more joyfully decisive. If she is going to play in this arena, she needs to get over herself and not take things so personally. If you are speaking the truth, you don’t need to be defensive. Being hurt is most often a choice. I don’t care for those that choose to be victims. It is the first sign of a reactive personality which you all know I refuse to engage once identified. If she is reactive…good riddance. If not, well I hope she is able to get past whatever is really bugging her.

    *********
It’s too late for that. The derivatives market is valued at roughly $44 trillion. There is actually very little capital to back up the “value” of the derivatives. (Imagine a triangle positioned base up…..the point of triangle at the bottom is the real money from which the $44 T in derivatives was created.) Basically the “market” is a fantasy. At some point the market will collapse.

Has anyone considered the possibility that the original Kenyan forgery certifcate of birth was released prior to Lucas Smith’s BC release so that Smith’s release would be treated as someone “crying wolf” — counting on human nature to “not be duped the second time around” kind of thing? They anticipated he would be releasing, potentially, the real thing, and threw the fake out there to muddy the waters enough to instill doubt about any future release, knowing their fake would be shown to be fake (via someone conveniently finding the David Boreham BC that proves it’s a fake). Just a thought I needed to get off my chest :).

Local School Districts Pass on Obama’s Speech
    By LITA BECK
Updated 9:49 PM CDT, Thu, Sep 3, 2009

School districts across Texas are pondering whether they’ll have their students watch a national address by President Barack Obama next week.

The speech on the importance of education is aimed directly at the nation’s school children at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Obama has asked school districts to carry the live webcast.

Districts in North Texas have received complaints about the speech, and most are not broadcasting it to their students.

“There appears to be a curriculum associated with the speech,” said Fred Moses, chairman of the Collin County Republican Party.

Parent Bobby Lochner said he wouldn’t mind his children hearing a speech on education — if that’s all the message is.

“On the surface, and if it’s kept to at that — as just talking to the American people and the importance of education — obviously that is very important,” he said.

Many districts are making Obama’s speech available, but are not requiring students to watch it.

The Dallas Independent School District will broadcast the speech live on its cable channel. Principals will decide if they want to air it live.

And the Fort Worth Independent School District will have the speech available live at all of its high schools, but students will not be required to watch it. Students who choose not to view it will be offered alternative activities.

In Plano, the school district will record the speech and have the video available to students for later.

PTA council president Cara Mendelsohn said Obama is “cutting out the parent” by speaking to kids during school hours.

“Why can’t a parent be watching this with their kid in the evening?” Mendelsohn said. “Because that’s what makes a powerful statement, when a parent is sitting there saying, ‘This is what I dream for you. This is what I want you to achieve.”‘

Other districts in North Texas are posting the speech on their Web sites and making it available for social studies teachers to use at a later time.

In a letter last week to the nation’s school principal, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said the speech would challenge students to work hard, set educational goals and take responsibility for their learning.

The Department of Education has a list for teachers of suggested classroom activities for before, during and after the speech posted on its Web site.

The suggestions for grades 7 through 12 include discussing the words “responsibility, persistence and goals” prior to the speech and discussing what in the speech “resonated” with students. Click here to read all of the suggested activities.

For grades prekindergarten through sixth grade, the suggested activities include building “background knowledge” by reading books about Obama and presidents before the speech and writing down “key ideas or phrases” during the speech that students find meaningful or important. Click here to read all of the suggested activities.

Gov. Rick Perry called the Obama’s plan for the speech “disturbing” but said he would not advise parents to keep their children home from school Tuesday.

Perry said the speech and its suggested activities were another example of the federal government trying to usurp state and local input.

“Nobody seems to know what he’s going to be talking about … why didn’t he spend more time talking to the local districts, superintendents?” he said.

The speech will be streamed live on the White House Web site.

The following is a list of how various school districts are handling the speech. Districts are listed alphabetically:

•Allen ISD: Speech will not be shown to grades kindergarten through third grade but will be used as part of the social studies/government curriculum for grades 4 through 12.
•Arlington ISD: Making the speech available for students and parents on its Web site. The speech will also be available for classroom use as deemed appropriate to the district’s curriculum.
•Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD: Social studies teachers will have the option of broadcasting the speech to their students.
•Dallas ISD: Speech will be live on its cable channel. Principals will decide if they want to air it live.
•Denton ISD: Speech will be available on its Web site for anyone to view, but will not be broadcast to students.
•Duncanville ISD: Social studies teachers will have the option of broadcasting the speech to their students.
•Fort Worth ISD: Speech available live at all of its high schools, but students will not be required to watch it. Students who choose not to view will have alternative activities.
•Frisco ISD: District will record the speech, and teachers can choose to use it at a later time.
•HEB ISD: Speech will be recorded as a podcast. It will be available to social students teachers who want to use it in class and to everyone on the district’s Web site.
•Highland Park ISD: Any teacher can choose to broadcast it.
•Keller ISD: Speech will be available live. Teachers can show it if they want to.
•Lancaster ISD: District will record the speech, and teachers can choose to use it at a later time.
•Mansfield ISD: Speech will be recorded, and teachers can use it at a later time.
•Plano ISD: Speech will be available on its Web site for anyone to view, but will not be broadcast to students.
•Richardson ISD: The speech will be available on Wednesday, the day after, and optional for grades kindergarten through 12. Parents will need to give permission for students in grades kindergarten through 8. No discussions or lessons will be offered afterward.

Districts not listed did not return calls requesting information.

Districts in other states such as Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Virginia, Wisconsin have decided not to show the speech to students. Others are still thinking it over or are letting parents have their kids opt out.

Montel Williams is now a moonbat talk show host for Air America.

The formerly civil TV personality is now a foaming-at-the-mouth nutroots-panderer who wishes GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann dead.

    Radio Equalizer Brian Maloney reports:

WILLIAMS (1:30:32): Michelle, slit your wrist.

Go ahead… or, do us all a better thing [sic].

Move that knife up about two feet.

    Start right at the collarbone.

Where are the civility police when you need them, huh?

Maybe Montel Williams is auditioning for Democrat Rep. Pete Stark Raving Mad’s seat when he retires.

“It’s deja vu all over again.”

    How does it feel?

It went something like this …

    Single-payer (no f*cking way!)

Public “option” (nope, will lead to single-payer)

Snowe’s trigger (sounds pretty good, after all, Bush’s prescription coverage for the elderly has a trigger that has never been pulled, and never will be)

Conrad’s coops (huh?! I dunno, depends on what comes out of conference)

Public “option” part deux (Americans at each other’s throats at townhalls, some are even physically injured)

Snowe’s trigger part deux (still sounds pretty good to me)

Obama, Reid and Pelosi knew all along that they could NOT jam through a public “option” under reconciliation rules. So basically we’ve been at each other’s throats for nothing.

    How does it feel?

The Republican leadership could have been more up front about this, but chose not to as they didn’t want to reveal the ace up their sleeve.

So both sides in this debate have been jerking us around while they play their little game.

    How does it feel?

“As Dems’ Hopes For Two GOP Senators Fade, A Third Gets Special Attention”

    http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Daily-Reports/2009/September/04/GOP-Realignment.aspx

Speculation about losing potential support from Grassley and Enzi has inspired Democratic leaders to more aggressively pursue Sen. Olympia J. Snowe, R-Maine, the other gang-of-six Republican. “The White House is reportedly giving special attention to the preferences of moderate Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe on the issue of health care,” CBS reports.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/09/03/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5286067.shtml

Snowe has proposed a “trigger” option for the public plan, a compromise that would postpone the creation of a government-run insurer, giving private companies a chance to prove they can lower costs (Condon, 9/3).

Snowe has a record of bucking her party, CNN reports.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/03/olympia.snowe/

She “has shown throughout her career that when it comes to voting, it’s her principles and constituents that guide her, not her party.” She has only voted with the majority of Republicans 57 percent of the time in this Congress (Hornick, 9/3).

    This Lefty Gets It

    http://keithhennessey.com/2009/09/04/incorrect-cw/

CW #3. The President is ambiguous about his position on the public option.

The President and his team have clearly and repeatedly stated that the public option is not essential.

In Washington terms, that means it’s out if it needs to be to get a deal.

    There is no ambiguity.

Upcoming House floor vote notwithstanding, the public plan will be out of any final comprehensive bill unless the President chooses a 50-vote reconciliation path through the Senate.

Even in that scenario it might be watered down.

The marginal votes oppose the public option, so it has to drop.

*** I expect the Administration will perpetuate the facade of ambiguity to keep the Left at bay, right up to the moment where it drops out of the bill. ***

    EXCERPT

HH: Now in terms of all that as backdrop, the President announced he’s giving another speech next week in an attempt to overcome the increasing number of Obama antibodies that are growing in the body politick.

    MS: Right.

HH: Do you think he has a prayer of succeeding, Mark Steyn?

MS: No, because everyone’s heard, he’s made 111 speeches on health care. And he’s been unable to come up with a five word rationale for what he’s doing in health care terms, because I don’t believe it is about health care.

I believe it’s principally about the fastest way to create a permanent left of center political culture.

But he can’t actually say that, so he’s got to find some other fluffy formulation of words that will sell it to people, and he hasn’t been able to.

And the idea that somehow this 112th speech on the subject will be able to do what the previous 111 have failed to do is highly unlikely.

For a start, he’s not that good.

You know, it was in a sense an invention of the media that he was the greatest orator since Socrates.

It’s not actually born out if you happen to see him there on the ground live doing it night after night on TV.

He’s hopelessly overexposed, which celebrities normally are very mindful of.

HH: And last question, thirty seconds, if there were young Steyns near a television on Monday or Tuesday, would you let them watch the Dear Leader’s speech to the schoolchildren of America?

MS: Well, I’m thinking about that. My youngest son is cheerfully very impertinent and abusive of authority. He happens to be at that stage.

So I wonder if the best thing is to let him in the room and hoot and jeer, or whether to pull him out.

But I’m more concerned, actually, about some of these sort of study lessons, where you’re supposed to name the three most important words in Obama’s speech and all the rest of it, because I do think that gets very dangerously near to just propaganda.

This shouldn’t be going on at all.

A self-described optimist, Ortel nevertheless says the “worst of all worlds” is coming, characterized by falling asset prices and higher taxes, accompanied by a rising cost of core goods and services. Echoing the “stagflation” of the 1970s, he has coined the term “skew-flation” to describe what’s ahead. “

(I applaud both Netanyahu and Peres for their efforts in attempting to forge a deal on settlements. We just have to wait and see what deal emerges.)

    http://www.reuters.com/article/latestCrisis/idUSN31458354

Abbas has ruled out a resumption of peace talks with Israel until Netanyahu commits to a full settlement freeze, including natural growth, as called for under a 2003, U.S.-backed peace “road map.”

Peres said a deal was possible but that the issue was still unresolved, as he urged all sides to broaden the scope of Middle East peace talks beyond settlements.

“On that particular issue, there is not yet an agreement. Negotiations are going on. I do believe there is a solution for it as well,” Peres said. “It’s very hard to convince your own people to make so many concessions, to take so many risks.”

“But this is the task of a leader to move ahead,” he said, adding Netanyahu was aware of what needed to be done.

“He knows there is no chance, no escape, no alternative to go ahead and make peace. He knows he must do it … it’s just not a simple proposition,” Peres said.

Obama, who has called on Israel to freeze settlement construction, said earlier this month his administration was seeing movement in the right direction on the Israeli settlements issue.

In lieu of a full settlement freeze, Netanyahu has said he would not build additional enclaves in the territory, captured by Israel in a 1967 war, that Palestinians seek for a state.

I have argued that the government does have an important role to play in the regulation of health insurance markets

(Community rating, Guaranteed issue, Ex post risk adjustment, and an individual mandate, with Medicaid for a fee as the backup option).

To the extent possible, it should stay out of the business of delivering health care.

Markets should determine the allocation of goods and services, not legislators and bureaucrats.

Pethokoukis: The compromise is obvious, unless you want to basically phase out private health insurance. And this what many Dems really want to do. That is the problem.

    http://blogs.reuters.com/james-pethokoukis/2009/09/04/how-high-unemployment-undercuts-obamas-agenda/

Even the superbulls at First Trust Advisors, looking for 4.5 percent GDP growth in 2010, don’t see unemployment breaking much below 8.5 percent.

Keep in mind that those rates are almost double what Americans have come to expect the past two decades.

It’s going to seem like a jobless recovery to many voters.

The labor market isn’t going to let Team Obama out.

Its troubles will continue to drain the president’s popularity and perhaps result in large losses for congressional Democrats in the 2010 midterms.

If Obama still wants to pass big change from a position of moderate bargaining strength — and while he still has maximum muscle on Capitol Hill — it needs to be now.

This would mean centrist proposals like

healthcare reform that would expand coverage while also making it easier for individuals to purchase their own private insurance, or

a climate change bill where revenue from carbon emission allowance auctions would offset payroll taxes rather than given away to companies or spent by government.

Rahm Emanuel, White House chief staff, famously said that you “never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

With the moment of acute economic crisis past and a long “muddling through” begun, the president’s time of opportunity is nearing an end.

Earlier this year, when this regulatory crackdown was still in the hypothetical future, it was easy to sound tough about it.

But now the big banks are making money again.

The global economy seems to be recovering.

The time to start cracking down is coming soon.

Because if big financial regulatory reform doesn’t happen in the next year or so, it may never happen.

    Pethokoukis: I do know this:

We can’t afford another banking crisis anytime soon.

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/09/04/cnn-national-political-correspondent-jessica-yellin-and-cnn-senior-political-analyst-gloria-borger/

CNN has learned that the White House is quietly working to draft health care legislation after allowing Congress to work on its own for months.

Multiple sources close to the process tell CNN that while the plan is uncertain, they are preparing for the possibility they could deliver their own legislation to Capitol Hill sometime after the President Barack Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress Wednesday.

As previously reported by CNN senior congressional correspondent Dana Bash and CNN senior White House correspondent Ed Henry, the so-called trigger option remains very much on the table.

Under a ‘trigger option’, a new government-run health care plan would only go into effect if insurance companies fail to meet certain affordability standards with their own plans.

Sources say the current thinking among administration officials is that the president will lay out a path to reform in his speech next week that the White House hopes can bridge the various differences in the competing proposals.

Sources expect the president to emphasize the message: If Congress passes something now, it will serve as a foundation to pass further reform in the future.

Iraqi officials on Monday broadcast a video of what they said was a confession by a suspected al Qaeda militant claiming to have been trained by Syrian intelligence agents there.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad called Iraq’s accusations “immoral” and demanded Baghdad provide proof.

Maliki has formally asked the U.N. Security Council to launch an inquiry into the bombs.

Addressing the state-run Iraqiya TV station in a programme aired on Friday, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the request for an inquiry had not mentioned Syria.

“We just asked for investigation,” he said. “But we have the proof and evidence and confessions. Al-Qaeda has even declared that it gets the logistic support from groups operating in Syria, and we have proof of that.”

The Michigan senator said the delegation met with elders in the volatile Helmand province who urged them to help Afghanistan provide for its own security so American troops would no longer be needed.

“They want us to give them the support that they need to be self-sufficient in terms of their security. I believe that’s what they want, that should be our goal and I believe it’s achievable,” he said.

Any additional funding approved by Congress likely will be spent to train Afghan army, police and other security forces to take over the fight against the Taliban, and on equipment to protect U.S. troops from attacks and homemade bombs known as IEDs.

By the end of the year, an estimated 68,000 troops will be in Afghanistan, 21,000 of which were ordered there by Obama last spring. Military commanders and State Department officials on the ground have said many more are needed to get the job done.

Last night we talked about the trip next Saturday to DC and people are excited about the march.

I keep telling myself that there has to be someone to take these traitors down (guess I should read up on Nixon to see how they got to him). We clearly can’t rely on the Atty General. SEARCHLIGHT, Nev.

Speaking to reporters near the home where he grew up in this rural mining town south of Las Vegas, Reid said that Finance Committee negotiations over a “trigger” for a public option are something “we’re going to look at.”

This trigger concept has gained steam in recent days; under this proposal the government
would only start offering health insurance if the private insurance industry did not meet certain benchmarks for covering the uninsured.

  150. jrinNC Says:

Ten – Lots of build up and no real delivery.

Now that is what I am talking about – NO REAL DELIVERY. That’s what I like about Slider when he occasionally visits – like last time – something to the effect about no sH*t hitting the fan 🙂

Not that I am wanting something bad to happen, but I think it is time ACTION is initiated. I too am disappointed that people are being built up and when the so called delivery is made – it is much ado about nothing. Nothing concrete that will allow any action to be made. Like Grammy says, “there has to be someone to take these traitors down.” It has to be a few as a mob will only generate civil unrest. We have already seen we can’t do it thru the legal system – so “HOW” can it be done???????

I see only one way right now where the “mob” (meaning us right wingers) and all those who are not yet classified as such – refuse to pay taxes. But it would have to be a movement where EVERYONE does it so they will feel the pinch. While we can vote out all of those who are coming up for election that do not support this nation, stop and think, how long that process will take. Everyone is already beginning terms or in the middle of their term. Action needs to be initiated now – something that will be very detrimental, but yet will allow us the opportunity to turn things around. Remember our founding fathers were not many, but thru their fortitude they prevailed. Time for me to start reading and refreshing my memory on that period of our history.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/09/04/great-news-white-house-working-on-its-own-health-care-bill-now/

Evidently he’s (Obama’s) concluded that the liberals in the House mean business about not supporting a bill that lacks a public option so he’s going to promise them one down the road,

whether via the “trigger option,” some alternative plan, or

more treacherously, the simple legislative inertia towards expansion once a government program is up and running.

(What gov’t pgm would that be?)

No wonder Harry Reid and Obama’s union cronies are suddenly talking up compromise.

Karl (Rove) made the point yesterday that no Democrat except Obama has a strong incentive to accept a “trigger” compromise, but I’m not sure that’s true.

Progressives know that there’s a bad moon rising over next year’s midterms and that this may be their last chance for years to pass some form of universal health care.

    If the town halls proved anything, it’s that Americans are ferociously suspicious of any statist encroachment on health care;

the trick at this point is to break through that resistance by any means necessary and at least establish a policy foothold.

(This is so much malarkey, Obama settled on the trigger a long time ago.)

Maybe it’ll turn into a public option (or, gulp, single payer) down the road or maybe the GOP will be swept into Congress and undo it all next year, but their dream died once 15 years ago and it’s on life support again now.

(Hello, has Bush’s trigger ever been pulled? This sounds like desperation to me.)

Anything they can do to keep it alive, in whatever form, is probably a victory.

Expect the liberals to play ball.

(The liberals could have played ball a long time ago and then maybe that poor man wouldn’t have had his finger bitten off.)

(Maybe now you can understand why I consider myself a centrist and why I cannot stand either party when they’re being totally partisan and not even being honest with themselves about their partisanship.)

Some stopped 15 years ago when they discovered that unapportioned taxes on labor were unconstitutional. It is a certified fact that the 16th Amendment was not legally ratified, but the courts have blocked the evidence from ever getting its day in court. Yes, stopping all income tax payments is definitely on the table for a part of the strategic plan. The fact is that tax on labor is illegal and the IRS is nothing but a Police State operation owned and controlled by the bankster/globalists.

Also, there are over 20 different liberty groups that are now signed onto CC2009 and all of their memberships will be participating. We figure we will need about 5% of the population joining the plan of action. We are close to that number now that are at least aware of and understand the need. If we can get upwards of 10% on board, then we will have a tremendously powerful impact. That will make a huge difference for next years elections as well. We will be promoting Statesmen, regardless of party. Next year, I guarantee you will see a big move away from party loyalty. Its all about the constitution and citizens rights. That generally means throw the incumbent out of office. Only true Statesmen will have a chance at staying in and that’s if they make a real commitment to putting the power back into the sovereign citizens hands (less government, honest money, end the Fed eventually, state sovereignty and a revitalized well-regulated state militia). No more government programs outside of the gubmint’s constitutional authority.

Thanks Ten – I know you have talked about this many times before and in the beginning I never really thought it would come down to this. Guess I will be contacting a local group in my state. I definitely will be involved. You just don’t know how deeply saddened I am over the fact that I gave 32 years of my life and 18 of those years to an elite group of the military. I was so proud to be able to be a part of our govt. Now – I am beginning to feel I did it all for nothing. You see I am now dependent on the govt for my meager existence. I also know that one day soon this will cease to exist. But the funny thing is I am not overly worried that those funds will cease. I still have my faith and my God says he will provide.

So Again Ten – Thank you for all YOU are doing. I know that you are probably stretched very thin. But please continue your efforts so that thru that process you will be a light for others.

US, EU slam Netanyahu’s approval of construction
    Friday, September 4th, 2009 | |

White House publishes statement saying approval of hundreds of West Bank housing units before construction freeze sets in is ‘illegitimate’ as ’such actions make it harder to create climate for negotiations’

WASHINGTON – The White House on Friday expressed “regret” regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to approve construction plans in the West Bank, just ahead of a planned signing of a deal with the US that would freeze settlement activity.

EU foreign ministers joined the US in expressing this sentiment, with Britain, Italy, and France all stating they believed the construction would impede peace talks.

“The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued settlement expansion and we urge that it stop,” said a statement by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

The statement was released just a few hours after an aide to Netanyahu announced that “the prime minister plans to approve the construction of hundreds of news housing units in Judea and Samaria, before the freeze.”

Top Jerusalem sources also stressed that Israel would continue the construction of some 2,500 housing units in the West Bank that is already underway.

But the White House statement said that “continued settlement activity is inconsistent with Israel’s commitment under the Roadmap”.

“We are working to create a climate in which negotiations can take place, and such actions make it harder to create such a climate,” Gibbs stated. “We do appreciate Israel’s stated intent to place limits on settlement activity and will continue to discuss this with the Israelis as these limitations are defined.”

he statement added, “The US commitment to Israel’s security is and will remain unshakeable. We believe it can best be achieved through comprehensive peace in the region, including a two-state solution with a Palestinian state living side by side in peace with Israel.”

It said President Barack Obama was “deeply and personally committed” to this, and that his objective was to resume negotiations as soon as possible.

“We are working with all parties – Israelis, Palestinians, and Arab states – on the steps they must take to achieve that objective,” the statement concluded.

    EU:Settlements illegal, impede peace
EU foreign ministers also condemned Netanyahu’s decision. Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini told reporters the EU’s 27 foreign ministers were all against the move.

“The announcement made to build new buildings and new settlements exactly at the moment when all the international community is asking Israel for a freeze has been criticized by the ministers of foreign affairs,” Frattini said after the ministers completed the first day of a two-day meeting in Stockholm.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband reiterated EU calls for a complete settlement freeze to spur the restart of peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians.

“Our position is absolutely clear and that settlements are illegal and an impediment to peace and that obviously anything in East Jerusalem is particularly difficult,” Miliband said.

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said he was hopeful peace talks could be relaunched on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York later this month.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said the EU was also putting pressure on Arab countries to rebuild ties with Israel. He suggested Arab countries could open trade offices in Israel and open up aviation routes

    ‘Freeze must include Jerusalem’
The Arab League chief also denounced Netanyahu’s decision and said any Israeli offer for a settlement freeze that doesn’t include east Jerusalem is unacceptable and “will suspend the peace process.”

Amr Moussa spoke Friday at a conference on Italy’s Lake Como. Moussa said a freeze of settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians hope to make their capital, is a precondition for any meaningful talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

President Shimon Peres also spoke at the conference, and said Israel had decided to adopt the two-state solution as a method for achieving peace.

He added that the prime minister was committed to the peace process and is “willing to go a long hard way to actualize it”.

Turning to Moussa he said, “Let’s stop telling each other: You’re wrong and I’m right. This is a time for leaders to work together to resolve differences, to agree to compromises and to move forward.”

Petition to Drill Here Drill Now

“I am writing in support of the development of more domestic oil and natural gas resources off our coasts by allowing all of the 31 lease sales proposed by MMS to be kept in the OCS leasing program for 2010–2015.

During the summer of 2008 when gas prices went over $4 gallon, the American people spoke loud and clear in favor of developing the energy supplies that have been off limits to us for too long. Just because gas prices have gone back down does not mean we’ve changed our minds.

It’s important that we begin to develop alternative sources of energy, but oil and natural gas will continue to be an essential part of our energy future for decades to come. We are currently sending billions of dollars overseas to meet our energy demands, even though we have more energy resources than any country in the world.

MMS should make access to all OCS areas a high priority for our nation to improve our energy security, grow our economy and generate local, state and federal revenue.

In terms of our energy security, for over 20 years the federal government denied access to an estimated 18 billion barrels of oil and 77 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the OCS. The resources expected to be found in these areas represent enough natural gas to heat 15 million households using natural gas for more than 77 years. And, it can produce enough oil to power over 20 million cars and heat 956,000 households for 30 years. These resource estimates may be conservative since the areas in question are largely unexplored, but, if given access to them, the industry can utilize today’s sophisticated technology to further define and tap those domestic resources.

In terms of our economy, opening all available domestic resources to safe and environmentally responsible development will significantly boost U.S. supplies of oil and natural gas. One study in particular indicates that the development of these areas can add 160,000 thousand jobs in the oil and natural gas industry.

Lastly, in terms of revenue, the federal government collected over $23 billion from the energy industry in 2008 which was distributed to state, local, American Indian and federal accounts. Additionally, one recent study indicated development of the resources on federal offshore areas and onshore lands that had been off-limits for decades could generate $1.7 trillion in revenues for federal, state and local governments.

For the sake of our economy, our energy security, and our government’s balance sheets, the next OCS plan should keep all the 31 lease sales in the 12 areas proposed for exploration and production with no artificial restrictions.”

  190. rosettasister Says:

“PLEASE pay attention to anything dealing with Israel.”

    Yes, I agree.

But a lot of this finger-pointing at Israel is just for show. Western leaders want to give the impression that they’re even-handed.

I am listening to what Netanyahu and Peres are saying, they seem sincere that they want to reach a deal on settlements.

Mostly I listen to what the majority of the Israeli people want and look at the polling done inside of Israel.

Even in the best of times, Congress is unpopular.

And now voters see Obama as having sent suggestions rather than proposals to the Hill, staking his future and reputation on a body that they hold in low regard.

(On foreign-policy matters, where Congress plays a small role, Obama’s job-approval ratings remain quite good. It’s on the domestic side that his numbers are dismal.)

With 14 months to go before the 2010 midterm election, something could happen to improve the outlook for Democrats.

However, wave elections, more often than not, start just like this:

The president’s ratings plummet; his party loses its advantage on the generic congressional ballot test; the intensity of opposition-party voters skyrockets; his own party’s voters become complacent or even depressed; and independent voters move lopsidedly away.

These were the early-warning signs of past wave elections.

Seeing them now should terrify Democrats.

Iran’s Mousavi defiant after MPs back Ahmadinejad

    http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-42243020090905

Mousavi remained defiant over the poll he says was rigged in favour of Ahmadinejad and urged his supporters to create a wide opposition network using meetings such as family and union gatherings, as well as sporting and cultural events.

“In order to achieve our cause, I do not recommend anything but the pursuit of the green path of hope which you have followed in the past few months … through small and large gatherings,” he said in a statement on a reformist website.

Green was the colour of Mousavi’s campaign and the huge protests which followed the election.

“It is up to your friends to not betray the confidence … created in the struggle against the cheaters and the liars,” he said, repeating charges of “organised violations and fraud”.

    lightpotential’s take:

Dr. Peterson Interview – A disappointment, I have to say

To summarise briefly the 3 parts in total:

    1) The first part of about 2 hours mainly seems to focus on ‘survival issues’ associated with the upcoming general collapse of civilisation. Brief mentions of financial & economic chaos. And he notes the absence of morality. He talks a lot about survival courses that he has taught, and about currently residing in a remote location, building a laboratory for manufacturing health devices, but being self sufficient and able to defend his complex easily. (It is protected by a mountain range on all sides).

    2) A lot of focus upon health devices, especially that he has been involved in inventing, and that interact with acupuncture points. He talks also a lot about the ‘consciousness field’ and also the ‘information field’.

    3) Again, a great deal of further information on health matters; of raising children to develop high IQ. Also, Peterson did say that in his opinion, putting Chloride and Fluoride into the water supplies was a deliberate strategy to eliminate people – just as they reach retirement age, because the government has run out of money. And indeed, that these substances were not necessary as a certain purified Fish oil (that he would not name) would eliminate teeth cavities, for example.

    Evaluation:

In general I think that the interview was very disappointing. Peterson focused in my opinion on too much ‘health matters’ and did not speak hardly at all on the great issues, such as UFO’s, Highly classified technology and so forth. He was in fact very cagey about a lot of things, and would openly say that he would not talk about quite a number of things. Now, both Bill and Kerry mentioned that they had spoken to Peterson for many hours off camera. When it came to the on-camera interview, especially Part 3 when Kerry was the main questioner, there were a number of things that she tried to draw him on, e.g. his association with MK Ultra, but that he would not speak about.

In general, when talking about the ‘health issues’ he seemed to go off into extreme detail about the chemical-nerve reactions and ‘energy pathways’ of the human body – but to a ludicrous level of detail – that I think was vague and mostly over peoples’ heads. He mentioned quite a lot of studies done in Russia and released after the collapse of the USSR. But on many occasions does not name names. And mainly, it is more of the stuff that one finds already floating about on the internet.

In Part 3 in particular, I think that Kerry was asking the right questions. She mentioned some of the things from Jake Simpson and Henry Deacon, related to faster than light travel or concentration camps, for example, and other such matters that I really was hoping Peterson would elaborate more on. But basically, she got nothing really out of him – at least on camera, but it seems obvious that off camera he did say a lot more to the PC team. There was practically no new information at all in the whole interview.

But I will say this: I am absolutely convinced of the legitimacy of Peterson. His body language and manner, and the very fact that he was so reserved and cagey, are for me ample evidence of this. However, it is precisely the fact that he still does work for ‘the powers that be’ that ultimately made the interview so poor. There was just no meat to the real issues. It was so filtered and controlled. And I cannot recommend the Peterson interview to anyone. I think that overall it mainly covers the wrong ground, and what it does provide is not new.

    LP

  211. jrinNC Says:

Thanks Rose for posting the synopsis of Peterson’s interview. I started watching, but it just did not hold my attention.

Had very exciting afternoon. While mowing grass looked up near a wooden fence as I was getting ready to turn the mower to mow down and saw a copperhead entwined in the fence. Needless to say he is now deceased. He was in an area where my Peke’s like to go potty. They were in the backyard, but thank the Lord they apparently did not go over to that area. This is the time of year they really like to come out. So I guess I will have to be more watchful. I keep my backyard inside the fenced in area mowed every two days. I want to be able to see anything that moves. So much for living in the boonies.

  212. Fernley Girl Says:

And so the true nightmare is that if ‘the right’ turns out to be actually right on anything and the left to be wrong, by accepting this fact the left-winger will by his own definition turn into an evil right-winger. His entire moral and political identity will crumble and he will grow horns and a tail. So to prevent any possibility of this catastrophe occurring, the opponent has to be eliminated.

Please post this breaking news from Blog Talk Radio (Patriot Hearts Network) regarding Washington DC Superior court being possibly the only court we can bring suit against our federal government, including our “president.” The researchers say the reason for this is Obama is not held by Constitutional law, BECAUSE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS SET UP AS A CORPORATION OF WHICH OBAMA IS CHANCELLOR/PRESIDENT.

You’ve got to listen to this program. It’s 2 hours and around the middle of the program is when legal researchers Joyce Wallrose and Rod Class (not sure if that’s the exact spelling of their last names) get cookin’.

It will leave one speechless. From the Federal Reserve Act and suspending the Constitution to the fact that the federal government being a CORPORATION (which was done behind our backs) to the fact that every bill in congress by law must be read in its entirety whether it’s 1 page long or 1,500 pages long, and then read in its entirety a second time, AND every bill must be approved by us the American citizens, and more. None of this is being done and hasn’t been since 1933 when our president at the time suspended the Constitution and signed up with the devil (Federal Reserve) and this is why Obama doesn’t have to meet the qualifications of president via the Constitution.

I have been waiting for someone to reply to my post. Did anyone listen to the broadcast? Because if you did you would have heard the discussion about NBC requirement for president. The two guest speakers that have been investigating constitutional issues for eight and forty years respectively stated that it is not required since the USofA is formed as a corporation based in DC.

It has been all over the Natural Born Citizen blog in the comments section for the post regarding the mother’s citizenship. Even Leo is reeling. Listen to the blog radio show before you post again about NBC. It is a two hour broadcast and your head will be spinning the entire time. Look, as I keep saying, if it were that cut and dry someone woild have challenged it already.”

Remember Michele’s words? “Barack would never due anything that would make him ineligble to serve”. I felt like a total arse after listening to it. This is way over our heads. We need to study up. There is a serious problem. As long as you keep chattering about NBC they will not be worried.”

  241. Deborah Says:

Hi Rose and Gang- I have been a faithful reader of your blog for almost 1 year now, and I so appreciate all of the info I have learned from you guys, and all of your perceptions and thoughts. I too have been praying really hard for my country, and I have been incredibly concerned at the direction it has taken. I have been mulling over in my mind some thoughts, and wanted to share them with you all. Please bear with me, as I am somewhat thinking out loud too.
When I first registered to vote, about 37 years ago, I registered as a Democrat. I was proud, my family was proud, and I really felt I had chosen the best party to be in. However, I soon got busy with marriage, children, school… and I really didn’t pay attention to politics again until just the last 4-5 years. I loved Bush, although I didn’t always agree with everything he did, but I always felt like he was sincerely doing what he felt was best for all of us, and the alternative, Kerry, just kept changing his story so much I knew he was not even an option. When Obama was running, I was horrified at how much he changed his story too, and about really important things, like the kind of people he associated himself with. I wasn’t real crazy about McCain, but at least I felt he was a better choice for our country than Obama. This was when I changed my party officially to Republican instead of Democrat.
Now I know a lot of really good Democrats, and they have always been strong Democrats, their intentions are good, but I just believe that they really have no clue how their party is being changed, and I KNOW these people would not want to be a part of the kind of changes going on now, if they only knew. So now I am pondering, how can we get them to see, without making them defensive for their party, how can we get them to see how the leaders in their party are changing things? I know that none of these good Democrat friends that I know want to see us become a socialist country, nor would they want to see people with such radical ideas in leadership roles in this country. A LOT of scary people have infiltrated the Democratic Party, are calling themselves Democrats, yet, they are not true Democrats!!
Should we maybe start trying to appeal to Democrat blogs to wake up and see all of the infiltrators to their party, the people that are destroying their party’s values, or what?
I know I probably have rambled on too long here, and have only said things you all already knew, but I wanted to share my thoughts in case they could be elaborated on. I have 4 children and 4 grandchildren, and I am scared to death for them. This country is changing too fast and I worry it is not for the better! Thans for hearing me out and allowing me to ventilate!! Deborah

  242. Tenacity Says:

Joyce Rosewald…I believe I posted that link for the Citizen’s Grand Jury show about a week ago. It is definitely worth listening to. It was most interesting the way the courts put up a smoke screen to conceal the court that is the true Constitutional Court with jurisdiction over the 3 corporate entities that are controlling the U.S. It is deceptive the way the courts just shuffle people away by saying you can’t sue the government or we don’t have jurisdiction and etc. The fact is we have no government, just an usurping corporate structure that appears to be elected. What a sham! It will be interesting to see what happens on the 8th in CA and whether Class’s suit has any teeth.

  243. rosettasister Says:

    Good Sunday morning/afternoon, sleepyheads!

  244. Tenacity Says:

    Deborah,
Your thoughts are valid and you are not alone in your thinking and political history. Many of us have followed a similar progression.

Here’s the thing…BOTH parties have been infiltrated. Listen to the lecture I posted above and you will have a good background of knowledge and understanding. Party loyalty is just as dangerous as loyalty to a government versus the right’s of sovereign citizens. The whole left/right debate is a smoke screen by the Illuminist globalist banksters. It does no good to attack any party as it only alienates those still loyal. The best approach that seems to work is to differentiate between a Statesman and a Politician. See the mission statement on my website http://WeThePeopleColorado.com for 10 contrasts between a Statesman and a Politician. You will readily see that there are Politicians in both parties and we must be rid of ALL of them. By avoiding the partisan arguments, we are able to help people see truth and recognize what is really important. By defending the Constitution and the rights of sovereign citizens, we appeal to true patriotism and avoid the partisan wall that comes up so quickly.

FYI: I believe you will enjoy the writings of Dr. Kate. Since the Texas Darlin blog closed shop, Dr. Kate has archived some of the best of that site and picked up the torch. You will find a lot of PUMAs there. In case you didn’t know, PUMA stands for Party Unity My Ass. These are mostly Democrats that voted for McCain. For the record, I became completely disenchanted with the Republican party when I saw the banksters within the Rep party manipulate McCain in as the nominee. McCain is a shill and Rockefeller/Soros put him in to lose. Soros is a Rothschild agent and a part of the shadow govt.

Welcome to Rose’s Gang by the way. This is a great place with a good bunch of honest critical thinkers.

  245. Tenacity Says:

Oooops! I forget to give the link for Dr. Kate’s blog:

  246. CJ Says:

Well it looks like GlennBeck and some others have been successful in getting one commie to resign. Mr Jones is gone. but where will he pop up again? Ms. Jarrett isn’t one to give up easily nor is Mr. Ego Obama. Who’s taking bets we haven’t seen the last of him?

  247. jrh Says:

Deborah, I concur with Tenacity’s perspective and yours. I feel very much the same, even though I didn’t start in the Democrat camp. I have concluded that the Republican party has left me to follow the RINO’s who more resemble the middle of the Democrat party of yore. I would say the Democrat party left you too, but I’m not sure you’ll do much better with the Repubs, at least as of now.

Tenacity makes a good point about us citizens finally recognizing the difference between politicians and statesmen. It’s a big difference. A statesman serves the nation, whereas a politician serves mainly himself, following by the party line needed to get re-elected. Look at Specter to find a good example.

Third parties introduce the risk of dilution and the possibility of unwanted outcomes. If a stellar leader and a groundswell of support can be mustered, good things can still happen. The 2010 election is absolutely critical to stop this erosion of what America has been and should continue to be.

I too read Rose’s blog regularly but don’t often post. It’s rare for me to find something that the gang hasn’t already posted, so I become something of a parasite. Rose does a fantastic job of keeping this site very interesting, entertaining and informative.

    Hang in there.

  248. CJ Says:

Valerie Jarrett’s father had ties to Frank Marshal Davis the comunist who befriended the Dunhams in Hawaii. Just doing some idle researching today and this popped up(birth year discrepency). It’s been reported that there is some question on our Pres. birth year being 1957 rather than 1961. That would make his mother(if his mom is Stanley Ann) only 14. I also read somewhere in a history of the Dunhams that FM Davis and wife talked about befriending and having sex with a young girl (13 I think was written in his writings??). Now does that not make for a thought provoking timeline that OB jr was maybe a Davis child? How embarrassing to confirm a communist as his father and one who basically would be a child rapist. Anyone else remember reading something about Davis that refers to any of this stuff? I can’t believe that would be able to be covered up but maybe that’s the secret no one wants to come out. Just musing here. Sorry no links cause I don’t remember exactly where I read this stuff. It was awhile ago.

    (Hi, Deborah!)

So now I am pondering, how can we get them to see, without making them defensive for their party, how can we get them to see how the leaders in their party are changing things?

(I’m a Dem and a certain percentage of “Dems” are hard core lefties who believe in the Obama Reid Pelosi power grab.

Other Dems are more interested in winning than anything else and don’t really understand what is at stake here.

But you’re right, a certain percentage of Dems are persuadable and, like me, believe in limited government — that the gov’t should only step in when it’s absolutely necessary and, even then, gov’t should not be intrusive. For example, I believe in subsidizing those who truly cannot afford to purchase PRIVATE insurance. This whole notion of the private sector “competing” with the public sector is total bullshit!)

I know that none of these good Democrat friends that I know want to see us become a socialist country, nor would they want to see people with such radical ideas in leadership roles in this country.

(Agreed, Deborah. These Dems and Independents and even some Repubs thought a vote for Obama meant a third way, a purple way. Hopefully his hard turn to the left woke up a lot of people just in the nick of time.)

I have believed for a long time that Jarrett was S/Ob’s chief controller/mentor. She is extremely anti-american and, in my mind, evil. She is closely tied to Soros and the Daily Chicago machine.

The only thing we seem to know for sure is that COUSI S/Ob (Chancellor of U. S. Inc.) is not what he has represented. He is undoubtedly a liar and a traitor. Read David Goldhill

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/09/read_david_goldhill_1.asp

David Brooks is absolutely right to recommend that the president (and New York Times readers) check out David Goldhill’s essay in the Atlantic on American health care.

    http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200909/health-care

Thing is, if the president were to read Goldhill’s piece, he’d find it contains substantive, compelling criticisms of the Democrats’ approach to health care. The liberal health care consensus “simply do[es] not address the root causes of poor quality and runaway costs,” Goldhill writes. Moreover:

The most important single step we can take toward truly reforming our system is to move away from comprehensive health insurance as the single model for financing care. And a guiding principle of any reform should be to put the consumer, not the insurer or the government, at the center of the system. I believe if the government took on the goal of better supporting consumers—by bringing greater transparency and competition to the health-care industry, and by directly subsidizing those who can’t afford care—we’d find that consumers could buy much more of their care directly than we might initially think, and that over time we’d see better care and better service, at lower cost, as a result.

Makes sense to me! Goldhill quotes approvingly from Harvard Business School professor Regina Herzlinger, who also backs a consumer-driven approach and who writes occasionally for National Review.

    http://drfd.hbs.edu/fit/public/facultyInfo.do?facInfo=ovr&facEmId=rherzlinger@hbs.edu

    http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ZDEwYjA4YjY3NDE4OTEyOTA1OWJmNjc2YWNiYTVlMzc=

Then again, since Goldhill and Herzlinger are skeptical about his current plan, Obama may think these reasonable, good-faith critics are just a couple of writers who “use fear to block change.”

Government Health Plan May Fall Short in Spurring Competition

    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a8vsrV96Q6PE

A government-run insurance plan, at the center of a fight over revamping the U.S. health-care system, may fall short of President Barack Obama’s goals for injecting competition into the private insurance market, Harvard Business School economist Regina Herzlinger said.

Republican opponents said during Congress’s August recess that if a government plan can force lower fees on doctors and hospitals, private insurance companies couldn’t compete and would leave the market.

Without such advantages, though, a government-run insurer wouldn’t accomplish Obama’s goal of driving down consumer costs, Herzlinger said.

“If they don’t bully the doctors and hospitals on the basis of their massive purchasing power to accept lower rates, where is the economy going to come from?” said Herzlinger, a professor at the Boston business school.

(i.e., IF a public “option” becomes law, which seems almost impossible at this point)

As Congress returns to work next week, the so-called public option is dominating debate over efforts by Obama and Congress’s Democratic leadership to extend health coverage to as many as 47 million uninsured Americans and rein in health-care costs that account for about one-sixth of the economy.

Obama and Democrats in Congress say a government-run plan can help provide choices for affordable health coverage to Americans who don’t get insurance through their employers.

While saying he prefers a public option, Obama has said he’ll consider other ways to foster competition with private insurers such as Indianapolis-based WellPoint Inc. and Philadelphia-based Cigna Corp.

Obama plans to address a joint session of Congress on Sept. 9 to seek new momentum for his drive to revamp the health-care system.

  260. Tenacity Says:

Herzlinger…speaking of fly traps. Facts correct…conclusion wrong.

No, you don’t have to make sure they are insured for health care to be affordable. It is not the place of national government as it is unconstitutional. The way to make health care affordable is to keep government out of it. The government must stop the trial lawyers and courts from driving costs of insurance up through costly frivolous suits and ridiculously high awards for malpractice. Tort reform is the answer. Universal health care is NOT A RIGHT. I agree that local communities and, by exception, the states should take care of those CITIZENS not able to care for themselves. The Feds are not capable of or legally authorized for improving the cost or quality of health care except through tort reform. That is not the goal of the proposed legislation anyway. The goal of this bill is to grab more control over the private lives of the citizens, steal information and increase government power and its ability to steal more of our wealth. Wake up people…that’s all this regime is about…period!!!!!

  261. Tenacity Says:

The cost of insurance (malpractice insurance) is the biggest problem as it is factored into the cost of ALL health care. Cut the cost of malpractice insurance and the cost of ALL health care will be decreased directly proportionally. Get the trial lawyers and politicians hands out of our pockets and watch what happens to both the cost and quality of health care. Give the government more control over us and the whole system goes to hell.

No doubt helped by Irish Tenor, Ronan Tynan’s emotive performance of it live on an episode of hit show Third Watch and it’s subsequent performances for Presidents, Mayors of New York and most recently at moving ceremony in New York to unveil a memorial to mark the resting place of Annie Moore in Calvary Cemetery.”
    ____________

He also wrote the lyrics to “You Raise Me Up”, and has written 3 books.
Wandering around on the web a little more, and some of the people his name appears with seem to not be too keen on the Queen, and part of the Irish sovereignty movement.

  268. Tenacity Says:

    Rose,
I need a logical explanation. Persuade me…seriously. Tell me how I’m wrong. Show me the constitutional authority. Show me how any element of the proposed legislation will reduce the cost of health care…or improve its quality. Tell me that this bill will not invade the private lives and rights of citizens and show it to me. Give me an example of a system in the world where the government controls the HC system and the health care is superior to ours without invading the freedom of the citizenry. Don’t just be stubborn…don’t just be emotional…think through this logically. You can wish that the wolf was benevolent, but it won’t stop it from eating the sheep. This leopard has spots. The reason our health care system sucks is because of government regulations, not because of lack of regulation. The Socialists wanted the government to tie healthcare to employers. They got it. The best thing that could happen to this country is to unring that bell. If there were real competition in the marketplace for insurance you’d be able to buy the type of coverage you wanted, at a price you could afford, just like auto insurance. All you’d need to do is provide a government voucher for heath insurance to families below a certain income level…….just like food stamps.

This corporation, owned by foreign interests, moved right in and shoved the original “organic” version of the Constitution into a dusty corner. With the “Act of 1871,” our Constitution was defaced in the sense that the title was block-capitalized and the word “for” was changed to the word “of” in the title. The original Constitution drafted by the Founding Fathers, was written in this manner:

“The Constitution for the united states of America”.

The altered version reads: “THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”. It is the corporate constitution. It is NOT the same document you might think it is. The corporate constitution operates in an economic capacity and has been used to fool the People into thinking it is the same parchment that governs the Republic. It absolutely is not. ”

Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) backed the health-care reform plan du jour, a “trigger” option that would place mandates on insurance companies to cover more Americans over the next five years before a public option would be implemented.

Nelson, on CNN’s “State of the Union,” advocated an incremental approach in changing the health insurance structure, all the while insisting on more competition and focus on preventive measures to help drive down costs. Nelson’s main critique of the Obama administration’s handling of reform: The president didn’t make clear how reform would impact those already insured. Those who believe something would be taken from them were the most worried and most disruptive, Nelson said.

(I am not taken in by the harpies on the right, just as I wasn’t taken in by the harpies on the left.)

a “trigger” option that would place mandates on insurance companies to cover more Americans over the next five years before a public option would be implemented.

What would be the result of this? How many jobs might be lost? How much will premiums go UP to pay for this? How much will the quality of health care go down to pay for this? How would this in any way reduce the cost of or improve the quality of health care? It appears that jobs would be lost, cost would go up and care would go down. Now that’s what I call a government solution. Oh, and the government gets to make the decision and step on the rights of sovereigns in the process. Just another way for the people to fear the government.

How about we just get the stinking government to secure our rights and stop intruding in our lives…stop usurping power. I DO NOT NEED THE GOVERNMENT TO SOLVE MY PROBLEMS FOR ME. THE GOVERNMENT IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE BY FAR. THEY STEAL WHAT I WORK FOR. THEY STEAL MY CHILDREN’S INHERITANCE AND FUTURE. Rose that is absolutely true. But I am telling you – some people will not buy health insurance I don’t care how affordable it is. As long as the health care industry continues to write-off the bills of those who do not have coverage and continue to pass those costs off to the rest of us, these folks will not obtain coverage. They don’t even care if they are sent to collections, they still end up not paying and many of these agencies don’t bother to pursue it. So that leads to the question of how can that cycle be broken. And of course you end up with the public option.

You see GREED is the driving force here on both sides. And that is what possibly separates us from the Swiss and their system. America has lost favor in God’s eyes and nothing either side will do will remedy any of it until they get down on their knees and ask for God’s blessings again for this nation.

  293. Tenacity Says:

    Rose,
I have asked you a number of questions. The only thing that could be construed an answer is the “trigger”. I demonstrated what the logical result of that would be. Nobody, not you or anyone else has shown me a single piece of this bill that would reduce the cost or improve the quality of health care. It will most certainly not result in affordable coverage for all…no way, now how! When people lose jobs, it just means less people will afford coverage. The government can’t do anything for me that I cannot do better for myself other than securing our borders and that they won’t do. I am not willing to give up a single solitary freedom to this government. They have no right to any more information and they do not have the right to make decisions for me…on anything. They have proven their treasonous nature and are not to be trusted at this juncture. Government employees are tax consumers. The entire government is so corrupted, blackmailed or bought off at this point that I believe nothing any of them say. If they were sincere about improving health care, they would be addressing tort reform. Are they? Nada This bill is nothing but a power grab. If its not, show me.

Tell me a little about Switzerland. Are they a republic? What is their per capita cost of health care? What is the quality of their care compared to ours? What information does the Swiss government require from its citizens to be covered? How do they pay for their program? Does their constitution grant the power to their government to provide for the health care? Who makes life choice decisions for individuals? What is the average wait for procedures like diagnostics and surgery? Is there an age limit for care where coverage may diminish? Do they pay for optional abortions in their system? How do they handle the harvesting of organs? I could go on, but this would be a good start.

I have no doubt that this regime intends to reduce our population. How can they do that? The best way I can conceive is for them to have more personal information and be able to make choices for us. Like forcing us to take a vaccine that will shorten our life span…just like putting rat poison (floride) in our water. The next best way is by putting a carcinogen and sex inhibitor in the vast majority of our food…like phytoestrogen (soy). Now you want to allow them to solve our health care problems? ….NOT ME!

It has always been my understanding that the hallmark of any developed civilization is how they provide for those who cannot provide for themselves.
    ******************************************
Our developed civilization consists of sovereign citizens and several states. We have an employment agreement (the constitution) with a national government that was designed to limit its function so as to protect the rights of the sovereign citizens and sovereign states. Abdicating our responsibilities as sovereigns to a usurping corporation involves the surrender of our sovereignty. Your statement relates to morality. We have a completely immoral corporation grabbing for power. We become less moral when we rely upon the usurpers to fulfill our moral responsibilities. In fact, one of this regime’s tactics to grab more power is the demoralization of our developed civilization.

My projected SS benefit will not even allow me to live above the poverty level. Many folks on Medicare need supplemental insurance, which will likely be mandatory as Medicare further cuts its reimbursements.

There is a very good chance that many boomers will never receive benefits from either.

Evey wonder if Medicare and Medicaid are so good, why don’t we simply start expanding eligibility in one or both to start covering the uninsured?

ACTUAL NUMBERS FROM ACTUAL MEDICAL PAYMENTS BY MEDICAID: Why Obama Care Will Result in Fewer Doctors and Massive Job Losses

Obama Health Care and the Government option WILL force doctors to stop practicing medicine. Under a Government option some 47 million (Obama’s numbers) Americans will be added to Medicaid not Medicare. The Health Care debate and the Obama administration continues to NOT talk about Medicaid.

Medicaid, unlike Medicare is not accepted by a large number of Doctors in this country. Medicaid denies (refuses to authorize) more medical procedures ordered by Doctors than all private insurance companies combined. In addition Medicaid refuses to cover more medications than all private insurance companies combined. These are facts that Americans need to start asking your Representatives and Senators about.

Just today I have received a statement from a Neurosurgery visit and decided to contact my Cardiologists, Radiologists, and the Hospital to get the actual billed services and the amounts paid by Medicaid. I want to share some facts that Obama Care fails (or intentionally refuses) to talk about. The below amounts written off by Doctors and Hospitals will only increase under HR 3200.

The cost of services for the Neurosurgery visit came to $550.00. Medicaid paid $177.61 of the costs with the Surgeon having to write-off $369.39 (multiplied by 47 mil = $17,361,330,000.00 billion dollars)

MRI’s of the Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar Spine came to $3600.00. Medicaid paid $853.04 with the Doctors having to write-off $2746.96 (multiplied by 47 mil = $129,107,120,000.00 billion dollars)

An Esophageal Barium Swallow cost $275.00. Medicaid paid $60.68 with the Doctor having to write-off $214.32 (multiplied by 47 mil = $10,073,040,000.00 billion dollars)

Initial Consult with Cardiologist cost $230.00, Medicaid paid $100.62 (per Dr. Office Medicaid only paid that much because it was initial consult) with the Cardiologist having to write-off $129.38 ( multiplied by 47 million = $6,080,860,000.00 billion dollars)

EKG cost $50.00 Medicaid paid $10.37 with the Cardiologist having to write-off $39.63 (multiplied by 47 mil = $1,862,610,000.00 billion dollars)

Cardiologist Services for right and left Heart Catheterization Totaled $1450.00, Medicaid paid $382.41 with the Cardiologist having to write-off $1067.59 (multiplied by 47 mil = $50,176,730,000.00 billion dollars)

The Hospital charges for the above right and left Heart Catheterization were $9448.00, Medicaid paid $654.30 with the Hospital having to write-off $8793.70 (multiplied by 47 mil = $413,303,900,000.00 billion dollars)

Multiply these write-offs by 47 million and tell me that medical care will not suffer and the number of doctors will not decrease or that the current proposals for Obama Care will not result in job losses in the medical field! Compare the amounts paid by the current Government Health Care to the amounts paid by private insurance companies.

Now these are specialists being forced to write off large percentages of their fee’s, Primary Care doctors (those few who actually accept medicaid) are paid even less for their services.

Medicaid patients in Volusia County Florida must travel to Miami (250+ miles) for a Neurologist and the closest Neurosurgeon is in Jacksonville (98 miles). Pain Management is in Ocala (88 miles) and Oral Surgery is in Orlando (64 miles). Medicaid patients in Volusia County Florida have only two specialists they can be referred to in the county itself, and that is a cardiologists and a urologists. Any other medical specialty required the patient must travel out of the county.

Per my own primary care physician’s office “no procedures are performed or covered at any of the hospitals locally except for emergency services and those ordered by the Cardiologist and Urologist.”

This is the Government/Public option that Obama Care will bring.

The history of his life—the little we can figure out anyway—is just mind boggling in the sense that how the h**l did he ever get to be POTUS with his background and connections!! I believe there was something drastic threatened behind the scenes, especially to the media. It must have been really scary threats to put them so in the tank for him, although I don’t excuse them one bit because they should have stood up for the country the way they are supposed to by reporting the truth. Soros looms large over much of this, his evil web falling all over the USA federal govt. and he stands to continue to make billions. Plus, bringing the USA to it’s knees is his obsessive goal imo. The tentacles weave through so many alleyways that it seems like a very cleverly written horror/suspense novel. Too bad it’s our unfortunate reality right now. I would love to see OB forced to resign before 2012, but I can’t believe he will, no matter what. He will never give up his position and he will have lots of help keeping him locked in. There would have to be something so illegal, obvious and provable that he would be caught like a rat in a trap. The media would have to indict him and bring him down because they would have no choice and at that point, maybe the threats would lose their power. Unlikely but not impossible. Van Jones had to resign but then again, there was so much evidence coming from his own mouth that he really didn’t stand a chance but the msm still hasn’t hit that sory very hard at all. Obama is scrubbed clean of any past word or deeds that are that obvious and provable and he sidesteps every current controversy with plenty of help. I still have some hope that he will leave soon but that’s a pretty slim hope. His healthcare speech this week will be a big revelation imo, either to help him regain some credibility or more likely, lose more because he still doesn’t hear the people out across the country against his socialist agenda. I will still fight for freedom and truth in my small way everyday. I am heading to DC for the 9/12 rally/protest. Should be interesting and I hope there are alot of us showing up there. by Victor Davis Hanson

    And On It Goes

I support the President on Afghanistan and am relieved he did not pull out of Iraq as once promised (all combat brigades out by March 1, 2008—he said during his initial campaigning).

That said, almost a year ago, I wrote that the Democratic congressional chest-thumping for Afghanistan, as the good war, would cease as soon as Bush left office and that Afghanistan, not Iraq, was always going to be the harder, messier war in the long run.

Just as the John Kerrys of the world lined up on October 10, 2002, to authorize the Iraq war to bolster their security fides in what they then thought would be another walk-through, only to bail with “Bush made me vote that way”, so too they sought cover in anti-war protest over Iraq by praising Afghanistan as the good war, thinking it was won, Iraq was lost, and Bush was in power.

Now Bush is history; Iraq is quieter; Afghanistan is heating up. So? An Obama invasion into Pakistan in ‘hot pursuit’? I don’t think any of them ever realized that they would own Afghanistan and their own bellicose rhetoric would come back to haunt them. Have there been any New York Times exposes about our post-Jan. 20, 2009 Predator assassinations in Pakistan, in which we obliterate houses, families and all, without Miranda rights or habeas corpus (what candidate Obama himself once deplored)? (And if the State Department was supposed to oversee private guards responsible for embassy security in Kabul, and the State Department in turn was responsible to the White House, does the administration have culpability in the fashion that the rogue sex-perverts guards at Abu Ghraib, supposedly reflected the Bush-era military? If we blow up 90 in Afghanistan is it a war crime, or an honest mistake? When you turn the media into Pravda it becomes impossible to keep the party line straight sometimes.)

But other than continuing past policy on the two wars, almost everything Obama had done is consistent with his past associates (Pfleger, Ayers, Wright, Khalidi, etc.), his past vocation (grievance organizing), and his past methodology (most partisan in the Senate, surrealistic Senate campaign in which foes mysteriously dropped out, the Axelrod/Emanuel Chicago way, etc.).

    Health Care Grab

We all know what that a good health care system can be improved by increased competition, tort reform, tax credits for catastrophic insurance plans, deregulation, etc.

But Obamacare is not really about medicine. It is rather aimed at absorbing more of the private sector—once more, to create a vast new constituency of government workers and beneficiaries, to ensure an equality of result in treatment and access, and to replace private health insurers with public bureaucrats. (I got a taste of the future of the government octopus when I went yesterday to a California DMV office, and noticed that all the state employees at the windows had on purple union T-shirts with “organize” and “solidarity” emblazoned across them.)

In other words, in the Obama mind, would you want an autonomous family practitioner, entrepreneurial, keen to adopt to patient needs and tastes, juggling 10 employees and a 2-million-dollar family practice budget, grossing $400,000 a year in profits, highly opinionated and self-reliant, using his profits once in a while to ski or buy a BMW—or have him transmogrified into a GS-something, at $100,000 a year, with government benefits, unionized, docile, and waiting to go home when his shift at the dreary government clinic ends, wearing his doctor union T-shirt to work and eager to vote in politicians who ensure him lifetime tenure, generous retirement packages, and guaranteed pay raises?

I didn’t jump in last night because I don’t know a lot about the issue only that I know I don’t want the government directly involved in running any HCR. So here’s my two cents worth.

I don’t believe its about healthcare at all but about control. We could probably fire a third to one half of the bureaucrats we already have today and actually increase productivity because those that are dedicated and work hard would be even more productive. These good workers get tired of seeing the poor performers sitting around on their bottoms — some of them even collecting bonuses because many supervisors have no backbone to deal with problems. I’ve seen so much incompetence–these are not the people I want making my health care decisions. And the gov’t is entirely too big and once you hire people into the federal system you need an act of congress to get rid of them (that was always a standing joke at work)!

One of the biggest issues for me is dealing with illegal immigration. Deal with that problem first and a lot of the health care issues will be easier to solve. Every time I hear these “ads” talking about people using the ER in lieu of a family physician I think of my many visits to the hospital/ER recently with my mom. The picture is always the same — the ER is full of illegals. The truly poor have medicaid. Where we live we have a great Free Health Clinic for those working people who cannot afford health insurance. It’s staffed by all volunteer medical staff including a pharmacy and is supported by donations from the community–not a penny of Federal funds. VA has these clinics all over the state.

Of course when we say that we don’t want illegals covered under HCR they say they won’t be. Of course they won’t be as illegals but after they push for amnesty (which I’m convinced they will) for these people, they’ll be covered as US citizens.

We already have a major crisis brewing in this country in that our students coming out of medical school overwhelmingly want to specialize(I believe the number for internal medicine is under 10%.) A big reason for that is that primary care physicians have to work their butts off to survive because of the high costs associated with running a practice — with one of the, if not the biggest ticket items being malpractice insurance. They can’t afford to stay in business nor deliver the best care because they have to push through so many patients in a day to break even. What will happen if they add millions more patients without incentives for these college kids to be docs of internal medicine.

That brings me to tort reform. One big incentive for these students is to do something about the ambulance chasers and cap the amount these lawyers can go after–so many of these suits are frivilous and they drive up the costs of healthcare.

Finally, they need to tackle fraud, waste and mismanagement and recapture the millions of dollars lost each year in the medicaid and medicare systems because of inefficiencies and fraud.

I agree that there are parts of the system that need to be fixed but to completely overhaul this system and create a huge bureacracy is not the way to go (imho). Just the fact that they are trying to ram it through like other big ticket items tells me we need to slow down and give this a lot of thought and get bipartisan input.

At our townhall last weekend with our local congressman, he said that the repubs had over 800 amendments to HR3200 for consideration and not one was being considered. That truly troubles me that the majority party thinks they are the only one with answers. We can see where the left are leading us and its not a pretty picture. Also he stated that the real number of uninsured Americans is about 15 million! Let’s do something to get those people some health coverage (the ones that want to be covered) and start from there.

Have a nice Labor Day Rose’s Gang 😀

This is a very good point grammy – and it cuts much deeper than costs.

There are federal laws that prohibit denial of care in an ER based on ability to show ID. These laws were later expanded to cover not just the ER but any medical facility within 250 yards of the ER. 250yds covers most of a hospital campus. Once admitted to the ER, the hospital is then obligated to provide full medical care to illegals.

I am sure those first ER laws were passed on compassionate grounds. But here is the perfect example of Feds stepping in where they have no authority, encroaching on liberty under the guise of compassion, then creating a crisis to justify more Federal control.

I just looked out my window and saw a bald eagle (of course the camera is never at hand) flying over the river and thought about this beautiful symbol of America. It makes me weep for our country and what is happening to erode the freedoms and liberties we have long enjoyed. I have always felt blessed to be an American and have the freedom to speak and voice my opinion and to worship as I please (even moreso after watching the poor people in Iran who have no freedom to speak without fear of reprisal). We are headed there if we don’t stop this runaway train. I ask God to guide me and help me and to bless America. Although we may not always agree here at Rose’s place, Rose has given us the opportunity to voice our opinions — thank you Rose and all of the gang here. I’ve learned a lot here at Rose’s and thank those who know and have studied the Constitution and government for my civics lessons (as a girl I can tell you my mind was on boys during the 7th grade civics class and not the US government). 🙂

One of the interesting things to me about the strong growing resistance, is that it brings to light the elitist bubble the politicians and media have built for themselves.

The Democratic “analysts” see this movement as Republican engineered and are wonder how the hapless GOP pulled it off.

The Republican politicians are scrambling to jump on a train they did not even see coming.

I love being called astroturf and right wing extremists because is shows how clueless the Leftists are. What concerns me is entrenched Republican politicians trying to steer this back to their stealth brand of government growth.

Congress, the Whitehouse and the Courts need to picked up and shaken hard, like a dirty rug.

Anyone here at Rose’s aware of an independent sincere “Vote ’em all out” movement.

sorry – that last part was meant to be a question 🙂

Don’t weep! It is the sign – that we may have just awakened but need to now stand up an fight.

With prayer we will but be shown the way – it is up to us to act upon it.

    Grammy,
No eagles here, but several coveys of quail in my yard, and a couple of red tail hawks flying nearby. Sunshine everywhere.
At this point in our history I now know that the government is never for us, and always against us. Edward Abbey said, “The more corrupt a society, the more numerous its laws.” That explains perfectly why Congress is in session full time and constantly writing laws to empower and enrich themselves.

Hey! Van Jones has time on his hands now – maybe he can head over to Venice and sign on with Chavez and Stone for Part 2. 😛

“”Barack Obama accused of making ‘Depression’ mistakes””

Nobel Laureates! – do they really think that what Obama’s cabal is doing are just a bunch of mistakes!?!?

It does not take a Nobel Laureate Panel to figure this out. Anyone here at Rose’s could have told ’em Obama following a playbook designed to divide and undermine the nation.
