The RosettaSister Gang of Liberty Lovers — Michigander j.b.

Hi my name is j.b. I am a Michigander and a soon-to-be empty nester (again).  I have been reading here at Rose’s for almost a year and post comments when I “feel it”.  I am the youngest of 5 (two bros and two sis’s) and had the nickname “kook” or ”kooky kid” and was proud to be the “class clown” in high school.

My father was a Navy vet and he died of Lung Cancer, at the age of 40, when I was 8 years old.

That would remain a void, never to be filled, no matter how much I drank…….so, I quit 14 years ago. Thankyouverymuch.

I am proud of my sobriety, which is a very nice change from the shame I had for so long.

I married young (the first time) and had 4 children in 6 years, 3 boys and (finally) a girl. During that time, of rearing kids, I became a hairdresser and that really helped support me while I went through a very difficult divorce.

I met my husband (the one I’m going to grow old with) at the ice cream store, next to the salon I worked in and we married 5 months later, almost 11 years ago.

I gained two more daughters; one will present a grandchild in January.

We have two dogs; Blaze, a 9 yr. old Brittany, Daisy, an (approx) 9 yr. old Springer Spaniel mix, which we unintentionally rescued, and Lilian, a hand-me-down cat that I “stole” from the Animal Shelter.

I retired from the “beauty” industry about 9 years ago, when my close friend, Perri, got me interested in jewelry making.  I am now enjoying that very much (and making glass beads as well).

I sell at the local market and anywhere else I can, in or near the city which I live.

I had never really been “political” or interested in any of the goings on in the political arena, until September 11, 2001.  That woke up the patriot in me and it was the next election cycle, grueling as it were,  that I became addicted to talk radio, Fox News and began defending W and defining my conservativeness.

I do not defend W any more, but I will admit that I miss him so much now as my president. I do not have a president.

And never in my imagination, would I have thought that I would think that, let alone say it out loud. (Or on a blog!)

There was a time, not that long ago (yet it seems like eons), I felt safe here, in America.  Regardless of whether or not I was, I felt safe.

I do not feel safe today. I feel there is an enemy with-in. I believe there is one big orchestrated effort to destroy OUR AMERICA and I want to be a part of the effort to STOP it.

I am absolutely sickened by what is happening in OUR COUNTRY since Barry has taken office and the year(s) leading up to that, actually.  The information I have read here and other outlets, some of it truly frightening, has opened my eyes (and mind) to stuff I wish I never knew and yet feel the need to share.

Anyhoo, I appreciate all of you here and am glad to be a part of “something”, which is (to me), so much better than nothing. Right?

I would like to add that;

I believe in God the Almighty, the general goodness in (most) people and karma’s a bitch.

This is the last paragraph from an article here:

What really matters is not just the debt of the government, but its entire accrual-based liabilities, which stand at somewhere between $50 and $100 trillion. On this basis, the US government is entirely insolvent, so debating whether the publicly-held debt is 75% or 90% or even 140% of GDP is like arguing about proper tire pressure for a wheel that’s been slashed open.

    Coalition Demands Ending 287(g)
    ViewDiscussion.Last Updated: Thu, 08/27/2009 – 1:19pm

As prosecutors seek the death penalty for an illegal immigrant gangbanger who murdered a high school football star a day after being released from prison, hundreds of Latino rights groups demand ending the program that should have saved the teen jock’s life.

The local-federal partnership known as 287(g) calls on local police to notify federal immigration authorities whenever they arrest an illegal immigrant. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) then takes custody and begins deportation proceedings to rid the U.S. of violent criminals living in the country illegally.

Had the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department followed the plan, prep running back Jamiel Shaw would be playing college football this fall. Instead he was gunned down by a renowned violent street gang member who had been released—rather than deported—after serving time for assault with a deadly weapon.

Shaw’s parents have sued the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, which operates the county jails, of wrongful death, civil rights violations and of breaching the section of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act that outlines the immigration enforcement agreement between federal and local authorities.

This week a coalition of influential Latino and civil rights organizations are demanding the Obama Administration kill the local-federal agreement that could have saved Shaw and many other crime victims across the nation. They claim it gives local police a green light to commit racial profiling and civil rights abuses.

In a stern two-page letter to the president, the army of immigrant rights organizations urges terminating the 287(g) program because local law enforcement agencies nationwide are using it to target communities of color, specifically Latinos. This, in turn, has compromised public safety and done nothing to solve the immigration crisis.

The groups applaud Obama’s recent remarks acknowledging the country’s long history of African Americans and Latinos being disproportionately stopped by law enforcement but claim the 287(g) program—recently expanded by the administration—exacerbates exactly that type of racial profiling.

The letter was signed by more than 500 organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, Guatemalan Immigrant Movement, Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Alianza Indigena Sin Fronteras and La Raza Centro Legal. Many of the groups will host vigils, marches and other protests this month to condemn and demand an end to 287(g).

Oh, this has gotten me all wee weed up! Actually? It just really PISSES me off!

    Drill the Deficit‏
From: American Solutions, Dan Varroney (
    Sent: Thu 8/27/09 12:59 PM

    Dear Gregg,

The White House announced Monday that the ten year federal deficit will be $9 trillion, $2 trillion more than they originally forecast just three months ago. Deficits of this magnitude are unsustainable.

How will we begin to get the deficit under control? A part of the answer is quite simple – drill for more American energy. This will create millions of new jobs and help grow the economy.

If the Obama administration stopped locking away American oil and gas, it’s estimated that the government would receive an extra $54.7 billion annually in revenue. In addition, over time it would add more than $8 trillion to the American GDP.

To continue to pressure the government to adopt a common sense energy plan, we’ve launched the second phase of the Drill Here, Drill Now campaign.

Can you chip in $20 or more today to keep this campaign going?

With your contribution today, you’ll automatically be entered into our “Solutions Lunch” contest. At random, we’ll be picking one member, and flying him or her with one guest, to Washington, D.C. to have a private lunch with our General Chairman, Newt Gingrich.

You’ll have an opportunity to sit down with Newt – just you and your guest – to discuss any issue that you’d like, from energy to healthcare to education. It’s up to you.

As the big government healthcare bills stall, those who would centralize more and more power over energy and healthcare in the hands of politicians in Washington, DC are on the defensive.

We cannot let up. We must force the politicians to stop locking away American energy.

We hope you’ll chip in $20 to help us keep up the pressure, and get your chance to come to Washington to discuss with Newt what we need to do to get America on the right track.

    Thanks for your support,

    Dan Varroney

    Obama Targets Medicare Advantage

Seniors would lose with health ‘reform,’ and seniors vote.

The problem for Mr. Obama is that he lacks credibility when he asserts his plan won’t add to the deficit or won’t lead to rationing; that people can keep their health plans; that every family’s health care will be better, not worse; and that a government run plan isn’t a threat to private insurance. A large number of Americans don’t believe the president on this.

With this week’s $2 trillion upward revision in the White House’s deficit projections, August has been the cruelest month for Mr. Obama. The president is now facing a politically explosive mix of unpopular policies and an angered electorate.

It’s still too early to count Mr. Obama out. His team will be back in Washington next week. They’ll work on their messaging and have more than $100 million—much of it from pharmaceutical companies—to spend on ads bludgeoning reluctant Democrats and energized Republicans.

The White House will exert enormous pressure—and in the spirit of Chicago-style politics, employ threats when necessary—with Senate and House Democrats. The health-care battle, already intense, will get more so in the months ahead. ObamaCare is unpopular, but it is far from defeated.

New Documentary “Blood Money” Seeks to Expose the Abortion Business
    LifeSite News ^ | August 25, 2009 | Matt Anderson

Posted on Thursday, August 27, 2009 12:37:52 PM by rhema

A group of filmmakers have recently filmed a documentary that aims to expose the terrible reality of abortion, focusing on the financial aspect of the multimillion dollar abortion industry.

The film, entitled “Blood Money,” includes numerous interviews with leaders of the pro-life movement, in which they lay out the facts about the abortion industry and the effects that abortions have on women.

The film covers a variety of issues, including “Roe V. Wade, Planned Parenthood, the scientific fact that life begins at conception, and how abortion affects women who have had one” the director of the film, David K. Kyle, told LSN in an interview today.

The original title of the film had been “The American Holocaust.” However, as filming progressed, the filmmakers found that the business aspect of abortion kept coming to the forefront.

“As I traveled around the country last September doing all these interviews with various pro-life leaders and women who had had abortions, the money part just kept coming up.”

Kyle said that the idea for the movie first came four years ago when he and his partner, John Zipp, the producer of the film, were working for Steve and Michael Peroutka, pro-life activists in Maryland, and realized that the issue of abortion is not significantly addressed by the media.

“During election time it is brought up, but it’s really not talked about. You hear the word abortion, people know what it is, but they don’t go in depth on the subject like they do other issues.”

The movie, which is currently in post-production and will hopefully be complete by the end of September, hopes to get people talking about the issue of abortion. Kyle says, “It’s one of those issues that even the pro-choice side really doesn’t want to talk about.”

Kyle says they hope the movie will inform people about the business aspect of abortion and the effect that abortion has on women.

“People are making millions upon millions of dollars off the murdering of innocent babies,” he said.

“Abortion has consequences to it. It’s sold as a quick fix when you’re in trouble. You can go and have an abortion and the problem goes away. Well, we know from countless women that the problem does not go away. Women have long term consequences that they are going to have to deal with for years and years.”

The movie also aims to encourage pro-life people to work towards an end to abortion.

“This is all about getting the truth out there to save babies. We want to motivate people to do something, even people in the pro-life community. We have thousands of people out there who are pro-life but who really don’t take an active part in it. We want to motivate them to do something.”

Out of everything in the movie, the interviews with women who have had abortions are the most poignant for Kyle.

“The women talking about their abortion experiences were the most difficult to get through when doing the interviews. I’ve sat with this footage countless times going through it and it still affects me.”

Kyle says that his interview with Carol Everette was especially powerful for him. Everette, who used to run abortion mills in Dallas, has since become a noted pro-life speaker and advocate of unborn children’s rights.

In the preview for the movie released Friday on Youtube, Everette says, “We would give them [young girls] a low-dose birth control pill they would get pregnant on or a defective condom. Our goal was 3-5 abortions for every girl between the ages of thirteen and eighteen.”

“Blood Money” still does not yet have a distributor, but Kyle is hopeful that through the support of pro-life advocates the film will gain the attention of one. In order for this to happen, though, he says that people need to register at the website or watch the preview on youtube to show their support.

“We know 250,000 to 300,000 people come to D.C. every January for the pro-life march, and it should be pretty easy to get those kinds of numbers looking at the website or the youtube video. If we can generate those kinds of numbers we think it will help us tremendously to get a distributor.”

To support the documentary “Blood Money,” please either watch the youtube trailer here.

    Or register at the website:

    CBO projection 7.1 Trillion Deficit

Concord Coalition projection 14.4 Trillion Deficit
    The Concord Coalition Plausible Baseline

The Concord Coalition takes the CBO baseline and adjusts it to assume appropriations increase at the same rate as the economy (GDP growth).

This increase is closer to the historical average rate of increase.

We also assume that supplemental appropriations do not continue indefinitely.

For recent appropriations for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we include realistic estimates from CBO about how much will be spent under a scenario where troop levels slowly decrease to about one-third of their level at the time of the estimate.

For taxes, we assume that all of the major tax cuts will be extended beyond 2010.

We also assume the one-year patches to the Alternative Minimum Tax will continue to be enacted, holding the level of taxpayers hit by the tax roughly constant throughout the baseline period.

Finally, we include a calculation for the increased debt service (interest payments) that these policies would cause by their increasing the deficit.

We do not make any changes to CBO’s economic assumptions.

Like the official CBO baseline, it is not a prediction, but a projection of where current trends are leading.

Democracy for America is hiring state-level Public Option Field Organizers for an intense three-month pressure campaign to pass a public option as part of healthcare reform.

We’re upping the ante and are looking to put full-time, hired, grassroots field organizers, on the ground to pressure elected leaders to pass healthcare reform with a public option in your state.

You can see the entire job description here:

Send A Second Message, This Time To Democratic Congresswoman Betsy Markey, Contribute To Tom Lucero’s Campaign

Colorado Democratic Congresswoman Betsy Markey is a first termer in a GOP leaning district.

Last night Markey told an audience that Medicare recipients would have to give up some of their benefits under Obamacare, and lectured the rest of us that we need to get used to losing medical benefits:

“There’s going to be some people who are going to have to give up some things, honestly, for all of this to work,” Markey said at a Congress on Your Corner event at CSU. “But we have to do this because we’re Americans.”

Lovely: Rationing delivered with an arrogant tone that tells us what it means to be American.

A couple of days earlier, Markey held a telephone townhall in which she repeated every Obamacare talking point including the whopper that the “government option/public plan” would be paid for exclusively by premiums.

Send Markey a message: Send Tom Lucero a contribution today. You can contribute online here. Seniors especially should telegraph Markey that they won’t put up with rationing so that she and the president can indulge in their social engineering dreams.

    You can contact Congresswoman Markey

and tell her that you are spending money to beat her because of her support of Obamacare, and you can copy me on your contribution to Tom and your e-mail to markey

If you live in her district, you can e-mail her via her Congressional office by using this online form and the Fort Collins zip Code, 80524.

In all your communications with Obamacare supporters I urge you to be respectful and specific.

Betsy Markey wants cuts in Medicare benefits –which is rationing, pure and simple– and is woefully misinformed about the costs of the public plan.

If these positions trigger a wave of contributions to her opponent, other Democrats will notice, just as they are noticing the surge in support for Harry Reid’s opponent, Danny Tarkanian.

Entitlement Reform Is Necessary for Long-Term Fiscal Stability

by Douglas Holtz-Eakin and Gordon Gray

The U.S. faces a fundamental budgetary challenge that will have severe economic implications over the long term. However, the scale of these challenges and the severity of an attendant economic collapse demand a near-term approach to bring the U.S. fiscal situation back into balance.

Entitlement spending seriously threatens U.S. fiscal solvency. Left unchecked, it will contribute to a crippling national debt burden, which will stifle economic growth and force later and thus, less fortunate, generations to bear the cost of these imbalances through severe federal cuts or draconian tax increases.

The U.S. still has a window, however indeterminate, during which it could implement sensible reforms to return Social Security to solvency without incurring massive future deficits and to rein in the health care costs that are driving the increasing Medicare and Medicaid spending. Properly implemented, reforms along the lines suggested in this paper would return federal spending to a sustainable path and ensure a foundation for prosperity throughout the coming decades.

A final, dubious approach would be to “grow our way out of it.”

That is, policymakers might mistakenly leave the problem untouched and simply assume that the U.S. economy can grow fast enough to fund these expenditures without needing to raise tax rates.

Chart 8 shows the GDP growth rate that the U.S. would need to sustain over the long term to follow that fiscal course.

*** The needed growth is well in excess of baseline estimates and wholly unrealistic. ***

There is no substitute for real reform.

    Tobin taxes, again

If FDIC chief Sheila Bair really wants to cause a regulatory stir, she ought to take a look at what Lord Turner, chairman of the Financial Services Authority, is up to. He wants to trim down the size of the U.K. financial sector (via the Telegraph):

“If higher capital requirements did not eliminate “excessive activity and profits”, options could include taxes on financial transactions, so-called Tobin taxes, after the economist James Tobin. The economist suggested a small tax on foreign exchange transactions in the 1970s to discourage speculative trading.”

Me: Generally, the theory is that such a transaction-based tax could only work on the international level since market participants would inevitably jurisdiction shop.

Here are four possible benefits from a Tobin tax from the George Soros-funded Open Society Institute:

“First, it is likely to generate significantly greater revenues.

Second, it maintains a level playing field across financial markets so that no individual financial instrument is arbitrarily put at a competitive disadvantage versus another.

Third, it is likely to enhance domestic financial market stability by discouraging domestic asset speculation.

(Discouraging speculation on what exactly – domestic assets? What does that mean?)

Fourth, to the extent that advanced economies already put too many real resources into financial dealings, it would cut back on this resource use, freeing these resources for other productive uses.”

Interestingly, only the third reason had any appeal initially to economist James Tobin who certainly didn’t view it as a “capitalism tax” the way anti-globalists do.

The idea has also received some support in the past from White House economist Lawrence Summers.

(BTW, does anyone trust George Soros-funded anything?)

How fast will the U.S. job market bounce back?

Right now the job losses in this cycle number 6.9mln, a drop of 5.9% from the peak.

It has taken 19 months to get these losses in place.

The metrics above suggest that the forecast of how long it will take to get them back should be about 19 months as well (we’ll use 20 months since jobs are still falling).

And while that is a long time – nearly two years- it is not so long to restore 6.9mln jobs.

If we get them back in 20 months it will take job gains averaging 345,000 per month.

Right now that seems like an amazing number.

Yet, that is what history says happens.

    So we’ll see.

This makes a lot of sense to me and Senator Gregg is a good man.

Sen. Judd Gregg: There is time for change

There are more than 47 million people in this country without health insurance, but they are not equal in their ability to access coverage.

Of this group, approximately 12 million lack affordable options and simply cannot afford to buy coverage, compared to the 9 million with an income in excess of $75,000 who choose not to purchase it.

*** Our health reform efforts must be targeted to those most in need so that they can afford a meaningful health plan that protects against catastrophic health care events and focuses on prevention and disease management. ***

    We must:

–replace our out-of-date payment system with a system that rewards quality over quantity in order to provide effective health care for less.

–implement tort reform to reduce frivolous lawsuits, which increase costs and drive doctors and medical professionals out of practice.

–focus on encouraging Americans to live healthier lifestyles by creating incentives for exercising and getting preventative screenings and other wellness measures that reduce the cost of care.

–focus on areas that we know account for significant health care spending, such as Alzheimer’s and obesity.

–reduce our long-term health care costs and reform unsustainable entitlement programs that threaten to strangle our economy.

As Congress gets ready to come back into session in September, I hope that the time spent in our home states hearing directly from residents about their concerns will provide members on both sides of the aisle with some much- needed clarity.

We must work aggressively to find a bipartisan solution that covers the uninsured, allows those who like their insurance to keep it and does so in a way that reins in out-of-control health care spending to help ensure the fiscal stability of our nation for future generations.

I urge the Democratic leadership to resist

the increasingly rumored notion of using reconciliation to push through a partisan, government-run plan

that will bankrupt our country, stifle innovation and

move the American health care system from the best in the world to average at best.

It is time to listen to the American people and heed their calls to do this right.

(Senator Gregg is retiring at the end of his term and you may recall he led the fight, unsuccessfully, to defeat Obama’s budget.

He’s very gentle with his rhetoric, but says an awful lot. I hope that the leadership on both sides will be wise enough to listen to him now.)

A government “informant” threatened GLP claiming that a thread contained information that could lead to tragic events.

Here is one of the two quotes to which this person supposedly acting on behalf of the government is referring:

“Martial Law will be declared in September of 2009, simultaneously in the United States of America. A staged assassination will be the cause”
Below, is the complete email received by the administration of GLP from this person:

I am aware of the content your website/forum so freely promotes. As it is, there are certain topics which should not be discussed on any public medium. I am sure that you are aware that we are living in dangerous times. President Obama has been called a lot of things; socialist, fascist -some people have even gone as far as to compare him to Adolf Hitler – and that is something I, nor the Government of the United States, take lightly. Nevertheless, this kind of propaganda is only creating fear in the hearts of the citizens of the United States of America and we fear it may lead to tragic events.

If I do manage this place, and that’s questionable, I guess I manage it the way I used to manage a regular classroom.

I realize we’re all adults here, but in some ways not that different.

You see, I realized my students would get much farther if I would just let them go.

Probably similar to a parent letting go.

They went further if I trusted them enough to run things.

Not all groups have the discipline to carry that, but most of them do.

Rarely do I really get the chance to catch up.

    Mostly I’m off and running.

I have noticed that when I’m away and not able to post is when we get the most views.

So, what does that tell you?

We’re all different here, but not so different that we offend one another.

It isn’t our intent to offend one another.

We teach each other, we rub off on one another.

And sometimes we truly engage one another.

    It’s enough.

    Printer-Friendly Version

After vowing not to become involved in recriminations over the Bush anti-terror policies, President Obama has allowed his Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to dig up all the dirt he can find on the CIA and the anti-terror investigators whose aggressive questioning saved us from countless attacks.

Why the switch? Because Obama needs to do something to appease the left that elected him. After refusing to pull out of Iraq and deciding to follow the Bush timetable for withdrawing and staying in Afghanistan and likely having to beef up our presence there, liberals might be wondering why they elected Obama. After all, his opposition to the war in Iraq and his criticism of the Bush anti-terror policies were the hallmarks of his campaign in 2008.

And, on the domestic front, Obama likely realizes that he may have to pull in his horns on health care and accept some sort of compromise which may not endear him to his constituency.

So he has decided to throw a few CIA interrogators to the wolves.

The report that Holder released to accompany his decision to name a special prosecutor itself showed the trivial nature of the charges against these patriotic anti-terror investigators. Among the allegations prominently featured in the report is that the mastermind of the attack on the USS Cole was scrubbed with a rough brush in the bath so as to cause him pain. Our heartless interrogators also threatened that they could bring in his family and parents for questioning. How do these “tortures” compare with the deaths of more than a dozen American sailors roasted to death in flames or drowned in the sea?

The CIA report, also released on Monday, demonstrates, within the limits that secrecy allows, how these very interrogations thwarted serious terrorist plots against our country.

Would the public agree that if we had bin Laden in custody that it would be wrong to scrub him with a harsh brush? Or to threaten to involve his family? Or to press his carotid artery until he was on the verge of passing out? If such techniques could have averted the deaths of 3,000 Americans on 9-11, would we not all have sanctioned them?

But Obama needs political cover so he is creating a three ring circus for the media by naming a special prosecutor to conduct a likely leaky investigation designed to throw dirt at the CIA. The exposures he is likely to make will dominate the headlines even as Obama disingenuously retreats from his campaign commitments on Iraq and on foreign policy in general. And, the investigation may even make enough noise to permit a retreat on health care. We hope so.

    Posted at Leo’s blog today:
Back in February I came accross this article about the US being a corporation. I didn’t have time to read it then. But after looking at it again it reveals the murky pit we are living in called the US government under a corporate constitution, put in place by the “Act of 1871″. I know you don’t have a lot of time, but this may explain why the courts, congress, SCOTUS and the White House are all thumbing their nosses at us.

Hide Your Money, the Africans are Coming!

This December, as Amy Goodman of the Marxist Democracy Now! network tells us, a Climate Summit will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The purpose of this summit will be to renew the Kyoto Climate Treaty Against Global Warming (Kyoto Protocol), which went into effect in 2005 (the United States was not a signatory to that treaty). At the pending Copenhagen Summit, a group of African nations, led by Ethiopia, are going to make an extraordinary demand of the West.

The Africans, Goodman reports, are going to demand $67 billion dollars per year from Western developed nations (read: “the United States”) as reparations for the “devastating effects of climate change on the African continent!”

According to Meles Zenawi, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, the western developed nations must pay compensation for damage caused by global warming, as well as additional monies to overcome “challenges” standing in the way of its own economic development:

Africa is going to need development assistance perhaps more so than in the past given the more hostile global economic environment that appears to be emerged. The international community needs to take urgent steps to limit global warming to about 2 degrees Celsius, which is going to hit Africa first and hit it hard.

The most effective means of adapting to climate change is growth and transformation of Africa’s economy that needs funds from the international community.

What the international community can do is to either become a stumbling block or a helping hand in the struggle for African economic growth and transformation.

On August 31, African heads of state are going to meet in Tripoli, Libya in order to iron out the details of the “compensation” package. In attendance—and deciding the fate of the developed world—will be such bastions of liberty, freedom and fiscal responsibility as Ethiopia, Algeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Libya, Uganda, and a host of others. Nearly all of these countries have already received billions of dollars in aid and assistance over the years, with little to show for it besides graft, corruption and the personal enrichment of their despots.

And the devil, as they say, is in the details. Democracy Now!’s annual reparation figure of $67 billion dollars is probably the minimum figure that the Africans will settle for. As Dr. Abebe Hailegabriel, acting director of the African Union’s Rural Economy and Agriculture Department put it:

Trillions of dollars might not be enough in compensation.

The Africans have begun to look at their environment in a new way. Instead of deserts, savannahs and plains, they’re seeing dollar signs. There is a word for what they have in mind for the December Summit, and that word is: extortion. This sudden environmental awakening on their part is nothing but a ruse to extort billions of additional dollars from the West.

The United States never ratified the Kyoto Treaty Against Global Warming. It would be wise to stay away from its successor in Copenhagen as well.

    Nothing a little tick-spit can’t cure

Tick saliva could hold cancer cure: Brazilian scientists
August 28th, 2009 by Marc Burleigh Adult deer tick, Ixodes scapularis. Image: Wikimedia Commons.

It may be one of nature’s repulsive little blood-sucking parasites, but the humble tick could yield a future cure for cancers of the skin, liver and pancreas, Brazilian researchers have discovered.

Any Lab Test Now® – Cancer Screen & Tumor Marker Panel Affordable, Professional, Reliable –

Facts On Breast Cancer – Find Resources on Breast Cancer & Learn About Treatment Options –

They have identified a protein in the saliva of a common South American tick, Amblyomma cajennense, that apparently reduces and can even eradicate cancerous cells while leaving healthy cells alone.

“This is a radical innovation,” said Ana Marisa Chudzinski-Tavassi, the molecular biologist at the Instituto Butantan in Sao Paulo who is leading the research.

“The component of the saliva of this tick… could be the cure for cancer,” she told AFP.

She said she stumbled on the properties of the protein, called Factor X active, while testing the anti-coagulant properties of the tick’s saliva — the way it stops blood thickening and clotting so the tick can keep gorging itself on its host.

The protein shares some characteristics with a common anti-coagulant called TFPI (Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor), specifically a Kunitz-type inhibitor which also has been shown to interfere with cell growth.

A theory that the protein might have an effect on cancerous cells led to laboratory tests on cell cultures — which exceeded all expectations.

“To our surprise it didn’t kill normal cells, which were also tested,” Chudzinski-Tavassi said. “But it did kill the tumorous cells that were being analyzed.”

In her modest lab in the institute, housed in a rundown building, a line of immobile bloated ticks could be seen lined up with straws under their heads.

The small amounts of saliva captured that way was reproduced many times over in yeast vats so that tests could be carried out on lab rats with cancer.

The results have been more than promising.

“If I treat every day for 14 days an animal’s tumor, a small tumor, this tumor doesn’t develop — it even regresses. The tumor mass shrinks. If I treat for 42 days, you totally eliminate the tumor,” the scientist said.

Producing a medicine from the find, though, will require years of clinical tests and a significant financial investment — neither of which Brazil is geared to provide.

Chudzinski-Tavassi has applied for a patent on the tick protein, and is presenting her team’s discovery in medical journals and conferences around the world.

But she says moving beyond her lab “proof of concept” will be frustratingly difficult.

“To discover this is one thing. To turn it into a medicine is a whole other thing entirely,” she said.

    Drill here, drill now

Va. speaker urges speedier offshore drilling
    By: William C. Flook
    Examiner Staff Writer
August 28, 2009 Virginia House Speaker William Howell on Thursday urged the Obama administration to open a stretch of ocean off the state’s coast to oil and gas drilling by 2011.

Howell — with other Virginia officials — wants to lease exploration rights for 2.9 million offshore acres. Environmental groups oppose the move.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar earlier this year put at least a six-month delay on a Bush administration proposal to allow energy exploration in new areas off the U.S. coast. “Developing these resources would create thousands of new jobs in our commonwealth, arriving at the right time to assist in lifting our workers, families and communities out of this economic recession,” said Howell, R-Stafford. The Interior Department’s Minerals Management Service estimates the swath of ocean 50 miles off Virginia’s coast could contain 130 million barrels of oil and 1.14 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The U.S. consumes about 20 million barrels of oil a day, and nearly 22 trillion cubic feet of natural gas a year, according to the federal Energy Information Administration. A delay in drilling would “would only serve to hamper our commonwealth’s economic recovery, competitiveness and job creation, as well as squander our ability to safely develop new and needed domestic energy production,” Howell wrote in the letter. Since the expiration of a federal moratorium on offshore drilling, the issue of opening new areas to offshore drilling has become a top campaign issue in the state’s gubernatorial race. Republican nominee Bob McDonnell has put offshore oil and gas exploration at the top of his energy plan. Deeds, who has put more emphasis on green energy technologies, has said he is open to offshore drilling for natural gas as long as it doesn’t hurt the environment, tourism or the fishing industry. Opponents argue offshore drilling would damage coastal economies and harm marine ecosystems. The public comment period for the offshore lease plan ends in late September.

Merck pays medical associations to promote Gardasil

    Dear Friend,

The news about Gardasil keeps getting worse. A report has recently come to light revealing that docs from as many as three respected medical associations accepted money from Merck to promote this dangerous and unnecessary vaccine.

According to the authors of the report, the American College Health Association (ACHA), the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO) all accepted money from Merck and then subsequently promoted the vaccine using practically the same strategy as Merck’s marketing department.

One doctor who was part of the testing for Gardasil said that Merck “was able to influence opinion leaders in the medical field to promote the vaccine without presenting any downsides.”

And with Gardasil, the downsides are many.

The FDA has received reports of as many as 32 deaths associated with the vaccine since September of 2007. But there’s now a more recent report, also published in JAMA, which says that the CDC has analyzed as many as 12,000 incidents of adverse side effects caused by this inoculation.

Yet despite the controversy, the ASCCP actually encouraged its membership to lobby “state and federal agencies to pay for the vaccine.”

You read that right: a group of doctors was being goaded into practically becoming lobbyists to get the government to start paying for what I can only assume would be mandatory Gardasil vaccinations.

Merck has admitted that it provided $199,000 to the ACHA, $300,000 to the ASCCP, and $250,000 to the SGO to fund “education efforts.” I can promise you that this is less money than Merck spent to get their ad agency to generate even one TV commercial for Gardasil.

For less than $1 million, three medical associations peddled their reputations and legitimacy to a pharmaceutical company.

And your daughters and granddaughters are the ones paying the price.

What happened in Honduras was nothing short of the preservation of their democracy. Their president, Zelaya, tried to usurp the will of the people (sound familiar?).

Take this hypothetical: Imagine Obama announced that he was going to hold a referendum on legalizing a third term for himself. Imagine that even his attorney general Eric Holder advised him that it was illegal. Imagine that the Supreme Court ruled that holding the referendum was unconstitutional. In spite of that, let’s imagine that Obama coerced the FEC to hold the referendum any way. Then we found out that the referendum was being financed by Hugo Chavez. What should the Joint Chiefs do? That is exactly what has occurred in Honduras to a tee. The Honduras Attorney General and their Supreme Court did exactly that. Their Generals did what they had to.

    What does the US do:

Department staff have recommended that the ouster of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya be declared a “military coup,” a U.S. official said on Thursday, a step that could cut off as much as $150 million in U.S. funding to the impoverished Central American nation.

Bill would give president emergency control of Internet
by Declan McCullagh Font size Print E-mail Share 19 comments Yahoo! BuzzInternet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They’re not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

The new version would allow the president to “declare a cybersecurity emergency” relating to “non-governmental” computer networks and do what’s necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for “cybersecurity professionals,” and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.

“I think the redraft, while improved, remains troubling due to its vagueness,” said Larry Clinton, president of the Internet Security Alliance, which counts representatives of Verizon, Verisign, Nortel, and Carnegie Mellon University on its board. “It is unclear what authority Sen. Rockefeller thinks is necessary over the private sector. Unless this is clarified, we cannot properly analyze, let alone support the bill.”

Representatives of other large Internet and telecommunications companies expressed concerns about the bill in a teleconference with Rockefeller’s aides this week, but were not immediately available for interviews on Thursday.

A spokesman for Rockefeller also declined to comment on the record Thursday, saying that many people were unavailable because of the summer recess. A Senate source familiar with the bill compared the president’s power to take control of portions of the Internet to what President Bush did when grounding all aircraft on Sept. 11, 2001. The source said that one primary concern was the electrical grid, and what would happen if it were attacked from a broadband connection.

When Rockefeller, the chairman of the Senate Commerce committee, and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) introduced the original bill in April, they claimed it was vital to protect national cybersecurity. “We must protect our critical infrastructure at all costs–from our water to our electricity, to banking, traffic lights and electronic health records,” Rockefeller said.

The Rockefeller proposal plays out against a broader concern in Washington, D.C., about the government’s role in cybersecurity. In May, President Obama acknowledged that the government is “not as prepared” as it should be to respond to disruptions and announced that a new cybersecurity coordinator position would be created inside the White House staff. Three months later, that post remains empty, one top cybersecurity aide has quit, and some wags have begun to wonder why a government that receives failing marks on cybersecurity should be trusted to instruct the private sector what to do.

Rockefeller’s revised legislation seeks to reshuffle the way the federal government addresses the topic. It requires a “cybersecurity workforce plan” from every federal agency, a “dashboard” pilot project, measurements of hiring effectiveness, and the implementation of a “comprehensive national cybersecurity strategy” in six months–even though its mandatory legal review will take a year to complete.

The privacy implications of sweeping changes implemented before the legal review is finished worry Lee Tien, a senior staff attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation in San Francisco. “As soon as you’re saying that the federal government is going to be exercising this kind of power over private networks, it’s going to be a really big issue,” he says.

Probably the most controversial language begins in Section 201, which permits the president to “direct the national response to the cyber threat” if necessary for “the national defense and security.” The White House is supposed to engage in “periodic mapping” of private networks deemed to be critical, and those companies “shall share” requested information with the federal government. (“Cyber” is defined as anything having to do with the Internet, telecommunications, computers, or computer networks.)

“The language has changed but it doesn’t contain any real additional limits,” EFF’s Tien says. “It simply switches the more direct and obvious language they had originally to the more ambiguous (version)…The designation of what is a critical infrastructure system or network as far as I can tell has no specific process. There’s no provision for any administrative process or review. That’s where the problems seem to start. And then you have the amorphous powers that go along with it.”

Translation: If your company is deemed “critical,” a new set of regulations kick in involving who you can hire, what information you must disclose, and when the government would exercise control over your computers or network.

The Internet Security Alliance’s Clinton adds that his group is “supportive of increased federal involvement to enhance cyber security, but we believe that the wrong approach, as embodied in this bill as introduced, will be counterproductive both from an national economic and national secuity perspective.”
Declan McCullagh,’s chief political correspondent, chronicles the intersection of politics and technology. He has covered politics, technology, and Washington, D.C., for more than a decade, which has turned him into an iconoclast and a skeptic of anyone who says, “We oughta have a new federal law against this.” E-mail Declan

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Charlie Crist chose trust and loyalty Friday over Washington experience or potential political gain in choosing former chief of staff George LeMieux to replace Republican U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez.

State Rep. Jennifer Carroll, who was considered for the position, said Crist told her he is choosing LeMieux. LeMieux is Crist’s closest political adviser and the governor’s pick shows he wants someone who thinks like him to hold the Senate seat Crist hopes to win in the November 2010 election.

As LeMieux said after interviewing for the position: “I’m a Charlie Crist Republican.”

LeMieux served as deputy attorney general under Crist and left that job to run Crist’s 2006 campaign for governor. Once elected, Crist picked LeMieux to serve as chief of staff. LeMieux left the position in December 2007 and has since worked for the Tallahassee law firm Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart.

Crist has continued to seek LeMieux’ advice on political and policy issues.

Crist had a final list of nine candidates for the appointment. It included former U.S. Rep. Clay Shaw, Mike Bilirakis and Lou Frey. Crist also passed on a chance to please party conservatives by picking former Sen. Dan Webster. The governor also could have tried to win points with certain constituents by picking Carroll, a black woman and retired Navy officer, or former U.S. Attorney Roberto Martinez, who was born in Cuba.

Other candidates considered were University of North Florida president and former Jacksonville Mayor John Delaney and Jim Smith, a Tallahassee lobbyist who is a former attorney general and secretary of state.

Martinez announced in December he wouldn’t seek a second term, and earlier this month said he would step down once Crist found a replacement. Martinez was the first Cuban native to be elected to the Senate, and previously served as President George W. Bush’s housing secretary.

LeMieux was born and raised in Broward County and was twice elected the county’s Republican Party chairman. In 1998 he unsuccessfully ran for a state House seat.

Crist faces former House Speaker Marco Rubio in the Republican primary next August. U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek is the only major Democrat in the race, though Rep. Corrine Brown has formed a committee to explore a Senate run.

Frank House likely to pass Audit Fed bill in October!
Friday, August 28, 2009 Posted by Lori
Labels: Audit The Fed, Depression, Federal Reserve, Systemic Collapse

Barney Frank says they will Audit The Federal Reserve the House will “likely” pass the bill in October. With the Bailed out banks threatening a Systemic Collapse and others predicting a Market Collapse things could be very ugly. I think we should END THE FED! (video)

Here is the Transcript from the Washington Times (Thanks Barney is very hard to understand it always sounds like he has mouth full of something when he is speaking) I will believe it when I see it Barney is after all somewhat of a Banking Queen. Odd crash predicted for October same month Barney claims they will pass an audit the fed bill! Keep in mind we are US in the U.S. Government.

House Financial Services Chairman Rep. Barney Frank, Massachusetts Democrat, said he expects former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul’s legislation to audit the Fed to pass out of his committee in October as part of a larger regulatory package.

Rep. Paul’s, Texas Republican, bill if added to Mr. Frank’s other proposed reforms could give a boost to a financial regulation package the Obama Administration wanted to pass last spring. The Fed bill has 282 co-sponsors, including every Republican member of the House and a considerable number of Democrats. The Senate’s lead sponsor of the bill is Sen. Bernard Sanders, a Vermont independent and self-described socialist.

Today, the Government Accountability Office has no power to audit the Federal Reserve. Mr. Paul’s bill would empower the government watchdog to do so and make their findings available to the public.

Mr. Frank was asked at a town hall meeting when he would put the bill up for a vote in committee and after giving a lengthy explanation of current problems with the Federal Reserve Mr. Frank said he was working with Mr. Paul and that, “This will probably pass in October.”

Below is a complete transcript of Mr. Frank’s remarks concerning the bill:

“I have been pushing for more openness from the Fed. I want to restrict the powers of the Federal Reserve. First of all, the Fed will be the major losers of power if we are successful, as I believe we will be, setting up a financial product protection commission. The Federal Reserve is now charged with protecting consumers. They were supposed to do subprime mortgage restrictions. Congress in 1994 gave the Fed powers to ban subprime mortgages.

Alan Greenspan refused to do it. They had the power to ban credit card abuses. Under Greenspan they did nothing. Under Bernanke they started but only after Congress acted. That’s one of the reasons why in the new consumer protection agency, we will take away from the Federal reserve the power to go consumer protection. Secondly, they have has since 1932 a right under Herbert Hoover to intervene in the economy whenever they could. Last September, the Federal Reserve they were going to advance $82 billion to AIG. I was kind of surprised and said, ‘Mr Bernanke do you have $82 billion?’ Mr. Bernanke replied, ‘I have $800 billion and under section 13.3 of the Federal Reserve Act they can lend anything they want.’ We are going to curtail that lending power. We are going to put some restrictions on it.

Finally we will subject them to a complete audit. I have been working with Ron Paul, who is the main sponsor of that bill. He agrees that we don’t want to have the audit appear as if influences monetary policy as that would be inflationary. One of the things the audit will show you is what the Federal Reserve buys itself. And that will be made public, but not instantly because if it was made instantly people would be trading off it, so the data would be released after a time period of several months, enough time so it will not be market sensitive. This will probably pass in October.”

Fox News Poll: Majority Think Swine Flu Vaccine Deadlier Than Virus
    by DefendUSx August 28, 2009 12:15

    Paul Joseph Watson
    Friday, August 28, 2009

According to a Fox News poll, the majority of respondents think that the swine flu vaccine is deadlier than the actual virus itself, emphasizing the growing momentum in the revolt against government plans to institute mass H1N1 vaccination programs.

Despite attempts on behalf of governments and their lapdog corporate media allies to push the necessity of the H1N1 vaccination, large numbers of the general public along with health workers have made it known that they will refuse to take the shot.

The latest effort on behalf of the establishment to push the vaccine occurred earlier this week when Dr. Nancy Snyderman, billed as chief medical editor at NBC News, stated during an MSNBC panel discussion that people should reject “conspiracy theories” about the vaccine’s safety, trust the government and “get your damn vaccine”.

The desperation and anger in Snyderman’s snarly voice was clearly a result of frustration arising out of the fact that vast numbers of people are getting educated about what will actually be in the vaccine.

The swine flu vaccine is being rushed through safety procedures while governments have provided pharmaceutical companies with blanket immunity from lawsuits arriving out of the vaccine causing deaths and injuries.

It was previously revealed that some batches of the vaccine will contain mercury, a toxin linked with autism and neurological disorders. The vaccine will also contain the dangerous ingredient squalene, which has been directly linked with cases of Gulf War Syndrome and a host of other debilitating diseases.

It was also recently reported that the UK government sent a confidential letter to senior neurologists telling them to be on the alert for cases of a brain disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), which could be triggered by the vaccine.

The Fox News poll on the issue is not scientific but is impossible to “game” for one side or the other because votes are restricted to one per IP address.

The results show that 50% think the vaccine is a greater risk than the virus, 32% think not taking the vaccine is the greater risk, while 19% are undecided.

The poll arrives on the back of a study published in the world’s foremost peer-reviewed medical journal which found that half of Hong Kong’s medical workers would refuse to take the swine flu vaccine because of fears about its safety.

New Community of Discalced Carmelites Enclosed in Elysburg
    Friday, August 28, 2009

    By Jen Reed
    The Catholic Witness

ELYSBURG – Exactly 447 years to the day that St. Teresa of Jesus founded the first convent of the Carmelite reform, a solemn Mass and blessing of the enclosure of a new Carmelite community took place at the Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in Elysburg.
The community of 11 Discalced Carmelite nuns arrived from Valparaiso, Neb., in April and came to the Diocese of Harrisburg due to a constant increase of vocations. This new community of Carmelites joins the Danville Carmelites and the Dominican Nuns of the Perpetual Rosary in Lancaster as the third contemplative community of nuns in the 15 counties of the Diocese of Harrisburg.
The Solemn High Mass and establishment of enclosure took place on Aug. 24, the Feast of St. Bartholomew. Father Joseph Howard of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, who will serve as chaplain at the monastery, celebrated the Mass. Those present included Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades, Msgr. Timothy Thorburn, Vicar General of the Diocese of Lincoln; Father William Waltersheid, Diocesan Secretary for Clergy and Consecrated Life; and Father Neil Sullivan, Director of the Diocesan Office of Worship.
“We are grateful now to have our enclosure since the last four months have been filled with preparations and renovations to the monastery,” said Mother Stella Marie, prioress. “It will be a great gift for us to return to our solitude and to continue our work.”
“We will be praying for all the people of the diocese,” she said. “We look forward to having the faithful come to our chapel for daily Mass. Please come, because you are welcome and you are welcome to leave your prayer intentions which we will offer during our Divine Office and Holy Mass.”
The Discalced Carmelite nuns will live a strictly cloistered life setting themselves apart from the world in order to dedicate themselves to God. By means of their prayers and sacrifices, they participate vitally in the redemption of the world.
During the blessing of the monastery, Bishop Rhoades remarked that the nuns “enter the silence of Carmel where, in the words of John Paul, cloistered Carmelite nuns throughout the world continue to bring forth perfumed flowers of holiness, souls in love with Heaven, who with their evangelical heroism have sustained and effectively sustain the mission of the Church.”
“These daughters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel remind all of us who are so often busy with so many activities and concerns that we must give absolute priority to seeking first the kingdom of God, as Jesus taught us,” the bishop said. “Here prayer becomes life and life flourishes with prayer. In our busy world, we need the example of Carmel to remind us of the necessity of prayer, that we all need to make space in our lives for prayer, that we are all called to union with the Lord. These beloved daughters of the Church, immersed in silence and prayer, recall to all of us the absolute primacy of God. This witness is desperately needed in our increasingly secularized world.”
The ceremony ended with Bishop Rhoades locking the door to enclose the nuns in cloister.
The Mass and blessing were attended by a number of faithful from the diocese, including several Discalced Carmelites from Danville, who lived at the monastery from 1961 until their move to Danville in 2008.
“Today is a great day, a great gift from God,” said Discalced Carmelite Sister Angela Pikus, of the Danville community. “It is his providence that we are in Danville, and it’s providence that the sisters that have come here are now here in the monastery.”
Father William Waltershied called the nuns “a marvelous witness to a life of contemplative prayer. Their monastery will be a powerhouse of prayer. They will be praying for our diocese, our priests, all of our people in the diocese. Even though they are enclosed, they will be intimately involved in the lives of the people because they’re praying for us.”
“They witness to the value of consecrated life,” he added. “It’s wonderful to see a sign that consecrated life is still so relevant in the Church today and that it is vibrant and healthy. They really are signposts on the way to heaven because of the way in which they embrace the Gospel.”
Brochures with information about the Discalced Carmelite community in Elysburg, as well as information on how to support them, can be found in parishes throughout the diocese. Prayer intentions can be sent to the Carmel of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph at 430 Monastery Rd., Elysburg, Pa., 17824 or given via phone at 570-672-2122

Police baffled as dozens of ‘suicidal’ cows throw themselves off cliff in the Alps ^ | August 29, 2009 | Mail Foreign Service

Posted on Friday, August 28, 2009 12:51:46 PM by Free ThinkerNY

In the picturesque Swiss village of Lauterbrunnen the locals are worried.

Dozens of alpine cows appear to be committing suicide by throwing themselves off a cliff near the small village in the Alps.

In the space of just three days 28 cows and bulls have mysteriously died after they plunged hundreds of metres to rocks below where they were killed instantly.

In each case local mountain rescue services using a helicopter had to be called in to remove the bodies because of the danger to the local groundwater of pollution.

A police spokesman said: ‘There are no large carnivores living in the Alps anymore who would once have disposed of the bodies so they have to be moved.

‘We are investigating because cows growing up in the mountains normally can estimate dangers and do not plunge down cliffs.’

According to local reports there had been violent thunderstorms in the area which may well have have spooked the animals.

Wake Up, America: Forced vaccinations, quarantine camps, health care interrogations and mandatory “decontaminations”

(NaturalNews) The United States of America is devolving into medical fascism and Massachusetts is leading the way with the passage of a new bill, the “Pandemic Response Bill” 2028, reportedly just passed by the MA state Senate and now awaiting approval in the House. This bill suspends virtually all Constitutional rights of Massachusetts citizens and forces anyone “suspected” of being infected to submit to interrogations, “decontaminations” and vaccines.

It’s also sets fines up to $1,000 per day for anyone who refuses to submit to quarantines, vaccinations, decontamination efforts or to follow any other verbal order by virtually any state-licensed law enforcement or medical personnel. You can read the text yourself here:

Here’s some of the language contained in the bill:

(Violation of 4th Amendment: Illegal search and seizure)

During either type of declared emergency, a local public health authority… may exercise authority… to require the owner or occupier of premises to permit entry into and investigation of the premises; to close, direct, and compel the evacuation of, or to decontaminate or cause to be
    decontaminated any building or facility; to destroy any material; to restrict or prohibit assemblages of persons;

(Violation of 14th Amendment; illegal arrest without a warrant)

…an officer authorized to serve criminal process may arrest without a warrant any person whom the officer has probable cause to believe has violated an order given to effectuate the purposes of this subsection and shall use reasonable diligence to enforce such order. [Gunpoint]

    (Government price controls)

The attorney general, in consultation with the office of consumer affairs and business regulation, and upon the declaration by the governor that a supply emergency exists, shall take appropriate action to ensure that no person shall sell a product or service that is at a price that unreasonably exceeds the price charged before the emergency.

“Involuntary Transportation” (also known as kidnapping)

Law enforcement authorities, upon order of the commissioner or his agent or at the request of a local public health authority pursuant to such order, shall assist emergency medical technicians or other appropriate medical personnel in the involuntary transportation of such person to the tuberculosis treatment center.

    $1,000 / day in fines

Any person who knowingly violates an order, as to which noncompliance
poses a serious danger to public health as determined by the commissioner or the local public health authority, shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than 30 days or a fine of not more than one thousand dollars per day that the violation continues, or both.

    Forced vaccinations

Furthermore, when the commissioner or a local public health authority within its jurisdiction determines that either or both of the following measures are necessary to prevent a serious danger to the public health the commissioner or local public health authority may exercise the following authority: (1) to vaccinate or provide precautionary prophylaxis to individuals as protection against communicable disease…

Forced quarantine for those who refuse (illegal imprisonment without charge)

An individual who is unable or unwilling to submit to vaccination or treatment shall not be required to submit to such procedures but may be isolated or quarantined pursuant to section 96 of chapter 111 if his or her refusal poses a serious danger to public health or results in uncertainty whether he or she has been exposed to or is infected with a disease or condition that poses a serious danger to public health, as determined by the commissioner, or a local public health authority operating within its jurisdiction.

Arrest for refusal to be “decontaminated”

If an individual is unable or unwilling to submit to decontamination or procedures necessary for diagnosis, the decontamination or diagnosis procedures may proceed only pursuant to an order of the superior court… During the time necessary to obtain such court order, such individual may be isolated or quarantined pursuant to section 96 of chapter 111 if his or her refusal to submit to decontamination or diagnosis procedures poses a serious danger to public health or results in uncertainty whether he or she has been exposed to or is infected with a disease or condition that poses a serious danger to public health.

When the commissioner or a local public health authority within its jurisdiction reasonably believes that a person may have been exposed to a disease or condition that poses a threat to the public health, in addition to their authority under section 96 of chapter 111, the commissioner or the local public health authority may detain the person for as long as may be reasonably necessary for the commissioner or the local public health authority, to convey information to the person regarding the disease or condition and to obtain contact information… If a person detained under subsection (1) refuses to provide the information requested, the person may be isolated or quarantined pursuant to section 96 of chapter 111 if his or her refusal poses a serious danger to public health…

    Forced isolation and quarantine

An order for isolation or quarantine may include any individual who is unwilling or unable to undergo vaccination, precautionary prophylaxis, medical treatment, decontamination, medical examinations, tests, or specimen collection and whose refusal of one or more of these measures poses a serious danger to public health or results in uncertainty whether he or she has been exposed to or is infected with a disease or condition that poses a serious danger to public health.

Forced entry into any home or building…

There’s a lot more in this bill, including language that allows Mass. police to enter any home or building without a search warrant, to destroy any object or building they suspect may pose a threat to public safety, to order the closing and / or decontamination of any facility using highly toxic chemical decontamination agents, and to arrest, detain and interrogate anyone who gets in their way.

Meanwhile, all state law enforcement and medical personnel are granted complete immunity from prosecution for their part in violating your Constitutional rights. So if they violate your right to due process, or they accidentally destroy your home, or they kill your family dog because they suspect it might be infected, you have absolutely zero recourse.

Under this bill, Massachusetts becomes a medical police state. There is no debating it. It’s all written, clear as day, in this law: The citizens of Massachusetts will have no rights, period. The Constitution is ancient history. You are now the property of the State.

    Kiss your freedoms goodbye
Massachusetts, it seems, has never met a vaccine it didn’t like. This is the same state that rounded up the parents of schoolchildren who hadn’t been vaccinated, then corralled them into a courtroom (with attack dogs standing guard outside) and forced vaccine injections onto all the schoolchildren under the threat of jail time for parents who resisted.

Remember, readers, that this is all taking place in the “land of the free,” a nation that former President George Bush claimed was so envied around the world that terrorists attacked America because they “hate freedom” and wanted to destroy our way of life. But terrorists need no help attacking freedom as long as Massachusetts is in the vaccine game, because this latest form of “gunpoint medicine” destroys freedom for everyday Americans in a way that terrorists could have never hoped to accomplish with all the bombs in the world.

Massachusetts, it seems, has done what terrorists could not: It has turned “free” Americans into medical slave subjects who no longer have any freedom to decide the details of their own medical care. All options have been stripped from them but one: The Big Pharma option. That’s the one that involves using untested, unproven and potentially dangerous vaccines that could paralyze you or even kill you. All to defend you against a virus that’s so weak, almost anyone with decent levels of vitamin D and basic nutrition can resist the virus without incident.

But Massachusetts, as you’ll see below, is just the beginning. It turns out that the whole nation could soon find itself under a similar forced vaccination policy…

Isolation camps, forced vaccinations and more
In 2006, former President George Bush signed into law the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP). It gives power to the Secretary of the U.S. government’s Health and Human Services department (HHS) to declare any infectious disease a “national emergency” and therefore require mandatory vaccination of the entire population. Because of the existence of this PREP Act, the entire population of the USA is now but one pen stroke away from being subjected to mandatory swine flu vaccinations at gunpoint.

Those who resist such vaccines will be arrested and taken away for “isolation” in domestic prison camps. They can’t just leave vaccine refusers free to live among the population, of course, because that would send the message that anyone can refuse the vaccines without consequence. So they’ll arrest those who refuse the vaccine, labeling them “a threat to national security” (enemies of the state) and imprison them without trial, without charges and without any legal representation whatsoever.

Meanwhile, all those who take part in enforcing these crimes against the American people will be granted complete immunity. From the HHS website: “[the Secretary may] issue a declaration… that provides immunity from tort liability (except for willful misconduct) for claims of loss caused, arising out of, relating to, or resulting from administration or use of (vaccine or other pharmaceutical) countermeasures to diseases, threats and conditions determined by the Secretary to constitute a present, or credible risk of a future public health emergency…”

There are other laws already on the books that strip Americans of virtually all Constitutional rights in a “pandemic emergency” scenario. One such act is The Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (S. 3678), which probably merits another article altogether.

Have no illusions: At the stroke of a pen, the Constitutional rights of all Americans will be immediately suspended. Mandatory vaccinations and “decontaminations” will kick in and the mass arrest of resisters will begin. There will be no court, no trial, no jury and no due process. Your actions will be dictated to you by a law enforcement officer or a health care worker who has been granted complete immunity, so if you just happen to get kicked around a bit (or shot), there’s really nothing you can do about it.

Some might argue these are necessary actions to save a nation from a deadly pandemic. And yet they forget that the pandemic has been intentionally allowed to worsen by censoring information about vitamin D and natural remedies that could stop it. Somebody at the top, in other words, wants this pandemic to get really bad, perhaps because it allows them to invoke precisely the draconian response I’ve outlined in this article. Seizing power in a Democracy cannot be accomplished by simply declaring war on the rights of the People. Rather, a situation must be engineered where the People are so desperate that they beg to be controlled. Releasing a pandemic into the wild is the perfect way to accomplish precisely that.

None of these laws will be invoked before the vaccines are ready in large numbers, of course. Part of the purpose in all this is to prop up Big Pharma profits with massive vaccination efforts, so until the vaccines are actually available, don’t expect to see any declarations of a public emergency.

It might take until October or November before the vaccines are readily available in sufficient quantity to inject just half the U.S. population. But once that milestone is reached, a declaration of a pandemic emergency is imminent. Trust me on this point: They won’t let all those hundreds of millions of vaccines sit around unused; they’ll make sure they get injected into the People as soon as possible, because that’s the only way to justify making more.

So the sequence of events we’re likely to see here are:

#1) Waiting on vaccine manufacturing to procure at least 150 million doses in the U.S. Probable timeframe = October.

#2) Hyping up a few local swine flu breakouts in schools in order to justify step #3. Probable timeframe = November / December.

#3) Declaring a full-blown national emergency and announcing mandatory vaccinations for everyone (to use up the vaccines that are now available). Probable timeframe = January / February / March.

#4) If the disease continues to spread, this is when you’ll see forced entry into homes and buildings, forced “decontamination” sprayings, widespread arrests and forced quarantine of resisters, Martial Law and a complete crackdown on freedoms (especially in the inner cities). This will likely continue through the winter until Spring arrives, bringing the sunshine that will suppress the virus around the May 2010 timeframe.

All this is written in black ink. It’s already part of the pandemic response plan. Body bags, FEMA camps and much more.

Two years ago, this was all the domain of conspiracy theory “wingnuts.” Now it’s State law. Now it’s being openly discussed in security conferences and health care meetings. What will we do when the hospital beds are full? How will we accomplish the “involuntary transportation” of those who are infected? Are there enough zip-tie handcuffs to go around? How do we disarm and arrest citizens who refuse to be vaccinated? How do we prevent National Guard troops from becoming infected themselves?

These are the questions circulating now at high levels, all across the world. And the answers are always the same: Abandon freedoms. Strip the People of any rights. Dictate from the top down and arrest anyone who gets in your way.

Welcome to the Land of the Free. I hope you are prepared for what looks to be coming, because this isn’t America anymore, folks. This is Amerika, and the Constitutional rights you thought you had are about to be written right off the books.

3rd Nebraska H1N1 death reported; outbreaks in 4 parts of state

OMAHA – Nebraska health officials on Thursday reported the state’s third H1N1 flu death and say there are outbreaks of the virus in four cities.

The latest case involved a woman in her 20s. The unnamed woman died Wednesday at an Omaha hospital. The woman also had a chronic medical condition that contributed to her death, according to Douglas County health officials.

The woman, who had a neuromuscular disorder, had been sick for less than a week and was confined to her home before being hospitalized, said Dr. Adi Pour, director of the Douglas County Health Department.

A spokeswoman with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services couldn’t immediately say when the woman went to the hospital.

The news comes a day after state health officials reported Nebraska’s second death from H1N1 flu. An Adams County woman in her 50s with chronic medical issues – including heart disease, asthma and diabetes – died late last week, health officials said Wednesday.

Last month, the state reported the death of a Custer County woman in her 50s who also had underlying medical problems.

The H1N1 virus can cause a fever of more than 100 degrees, body aches, coughing, a sore throat, respiratory congestion and, in some cases, vomiting and diarrhea.

The flu has proven to be especially serious for those with chronic conditions, like heart disease and asthma, or for those who have compromised immune systems, said Dr. Joann Schaefer, the state’s chief medical officer.

Most people who contract the virus can recover on their own. Only those who are moderately or severely ill should see a doctor, health officials have advised.

Outbreaks of the H1N1 flu have been reported in and around Omaha, as well as Crete, Chadron and Loup City, state health agency spokeswoman Marla Augustine said. However, she said, the disease is present statewide.

    FEC Probe’s Palin’s SarahPAC Contributions

    Friday, August 28, 2009 3:10 PM

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Federal Elections Commission has found that former Gov. Sarah Palin’s political action committee gave excessive contributions to two well-known Republicans.

The problem is highlighted in a letter sent to SarahPAC treasurer Tim Crawford.

Crawford told The Anchorage Daily News that the problem has been fixed.

He said SarahPAC has sorted out the $5,000 contributions to Sens. John McCain and Lisa Murkowski, and the campaigns have already refunded $200 each.

Crawford blamed the problems on election software used to deal with required disclosures.

Federal law allows political action committees to give candidates up to $5,000 per election if they meet certain conditions. Lower limits of $2,400 per election can apply.

Crawford said SarahPAC has redesignated the $5,000 going to the McCain and Murkowski campaigns so that each received $2,400 for the 2010 primary and another $2,400 for the general election.

The FEC also is looking for more information on work that people were paid to do on the SarahPAC disclosure report. Travel invoices also need to be itemized if more than $500 was spent on a trip. SarahPAC spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton said travel invoices didn’t come until after the report was filed.

The FEC wants a response by Sept. 24. It says an audit or enforcement action is possible if the deadline is not met.

The United States of America is devolving into medical fascism and Massachusetts is leading the way with the passage of a new bill, the “Pandemic Response Bill” 2028, reportedly just passed by the MA state Senate and now awaiting approval in the House. This bill suspends virtually all Constitutional rights of Massachusetts citizens and forces anyone “suspected” of being infected to submit to interrogations, “decontaminations” and vaccines.

The entire population of the USA is now but one pen stroke away from being subjected to mandatory swine flu vaccinations at gunpoint.

It’s also sets fines up to $1,000 per day for anyone who refuses to submit to quarantines, vaccinations, decontamination efforts or to follow any other verbal order by virtually any state-licensed law enforcement or medical personnel. You can read the text yourself here:

Very interesting excerpt from below article:

Personal recollections of the 1957 H2N2 flu pandemic

“This past Friday night there was a flyover above my home at about 8:30 in the evening. It happened again at just before midnight on Saturday, and then a third fly by — and I will never forget the exact time of this one, it was 2:09 AM Monday morning August 24th. The airplane was a twin-engine turbo prop that rumbled the house rafters as it went over. The valley where I live is about 9000 feet in elevation, about a mile wide and is rimed on opposite sides by 12,000 to 13,000 foot peaks. I could hear the aircraft feather its propellers on approach as it dropped down in a crop duster like swoop. It breezed across the valley in only a few seconds, then it powered back up into a climbing turn and disappeared over the reservoir. I should alert you to the fact that large twin engine aircraft flying at low altitude over our little valley in the wee hours of the morning, is as rare as snow storms in Pensacola Florida, yet it happened three times, in as many nights.

The reason I won’t forget the last flyover is this — in hopes of catching a glimpse of the noisy bird, I scurried out the front door onto the porch. I was immediately hit with a smell and taste that I can never forget. A sensation I have not experienced since the first time I tasted it. It was the taste and smell of that deathly ill three days I lived through, back in 1957.”

  218. jrinNC Says:

Well all I have to say – is move over TX here I come. Have a few friends living there now, plus an ex-husband.

In case things get a little tougher during the next few months, we In LOUISIANA, TEXAS , OKLAHOMA & ARKANSAS have a plan.

Maybe you don’t know it, but LOUISIANA , TEXAS , OKLAHOMA , & ARKANSAS have a legal right to secede from the Union. (Reference the Texas/Louisiana-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.)

Us TEXOARKLANS love y’all Americans, but we’ll probably have to take action since Barack Obama won the election and is now the President of the U.S.A. We’ll miss ya’ll though.

    Here is what can happen:

    1. Barack Hussein Obama, after becoming the President of the United States , begins to try and create a socialist country, then TEXAS , LOUISIANA , ARKANSAS and OKLAHOMA announces that they are going to secede from the Union .

    2. George W. Bush becomes the President of the Republic of TEXOARKLA . You might think that he doesn’t talk too pretty, but we haven’t had another terrorist attack and the economy was fine until the effects of Barney Frank and the Democrats lowering the qualifications for home loans came home to roost.

So what does TEXOARKLA have to do to survive as a Republic?

    1. NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control the space industry.

    2. We refine over 90% of the gasoline in the United States .

    3. Defense Industry–we have over 65% of it. The term “Don’t mess with TEXAS,” will take on a whole new meaning.

    4. Oil – we can supply all the oil that the Republic of TEXOARKLA will need for the next 300 years. What will the other states do? Gee, we don’t know. Why not ask Obama?

    5. Natural Gas – again, we have all we need and it’s too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry and AlGore will just have to figure out a way to keep them warm…

    6. Computer Industry – we lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications equipment – small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Nortel, Alcatel, etc. The list goes on and on.

    7. Medical Care – We have the research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers.

    8. We have enough colleges to keep educating and making smarter citizens: University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, University of Arkansas, LSU, LA Tech, Arkansas State University, Baylor, Rice, TCU, SMU and MANY more.

    9. We have an intelligent and energetic work force and it isn’t restricted by a bunch of unions. Here in TEXOARKLA, we are a Right-to-Work State and, therefore, it’s every man and woman for themselves. We just go out and get the job done.. And if we don’t like the way one company operates, we get a job somewhere else.

    10. We have essential control of the paper, plastics, and insurance industries, etc.

    11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the TEXOARKLA National Guard, the TEXOARKLA Air National Guard, and several military bases. We don’t have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six guns and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over the Texas Rangers.

    12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables and let’s not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. We don’t need any food from somewhere else.

    13. FIVE of the ten largest cities in the United States and THIRTY TWO of the 100 largest cities in the United States are located in TEXOARKLA. And TEXOARKLA also has more land than California , New York , New Jersey , Connecticut , Delaware , Hawaii , Massachusetts , Maryland , Rhode Island and Vermont combined.

    14. Trade: FIVE of the ten largest ports in the United States are located in TEXOARKLA.

    15. We also manufacture cars down here, but we don’t need to. You see, nothing rusts in TEXOARKLA so our vehicles stay beautiful and run well for decades.

This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of TEXOARKLA in good shape. There isn’t a thing out there that we need and don’t have.

Now to the rest of you folks in the United States under President Obama:

Since you won’t have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only President Obama will be able to drive around in his big 9 mpg SUV. The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes.

You won’t have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off satellite communications.

You won’t have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since AlGore has predicted global warming, you will not need the gas as long as you survive the 2000 years it will take to get enough heat from Global Warming.

In other words, we’re leaving it with ya!

    Signed, The People of TEXOARKLA

Ten more companies have pulled their advertising from Beck’s show on FoxNews, bringing the current total of Beck-deserting companies to 46.

Bank of America is among the new list of 10 businesses, and went so far as to tell the media yesterday that a BofA commercial on Beck’s Wednesday show was “run in error” by media outlets that carry the show.

Other companies joining BofA include big advertisers such as DirecTV, General Mills, Kraft, Vonage, Travelers Insurance, and Bell & Howell.

The Beck advertising boycott was begun three weeks ago by, after Beck called Pres. Obama a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people” during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

(I don’t agree that Obama is a “racist” but I do agree that Obama has played the race card when he thought it would further his interests.

Cap And Trade: Productive Farmland To Be Turned Into Forests
    Posted: 28 Aug 2009 07:52 AM PDT
The “Cap and Trade” climate bill has been out of the headlines (exactly where Washington wants it) while the world is glued to Obamacare and Ted Kennedy’s convenient death. It’s still coming, unfortunately, and we’d be wise to keep up the pressure on Congress. It may be hard to imagine, but Cap and Trade could be more destructive to our nation than socialized health care. That’s pretty damn bad. Democrats have already said they’d go nuclear (via reconciliation) to pass both.
An Environmental Protection Agency analysis shows that under the House bill– new forests would spread across the American landscape, replacing both pasture and farm fields. Cap and Trade gives financial incentives to farmers and ranchers to plant trees versus food crops.
The bill would allow landowners who “reduce carbon dioxide” by NOT planting food, to sell carbon permits to “polluters” like power plants. Those suckers are going to become quite valuable if Cap and Tax passes. Bonus: credit-owners can sell credits in a new market provided exclusively by Goldman Sachs. Whee!
When was the last time a re-forestation plan this enormous occurred in the U.S.? F.D.R.’s Civilian Conservation Corps, which lasted from 1933 to 1942, planted 3 billion trees. Make-work that drastically decreases food production? Brilliant.
The plan would be hard on ranchers and farmers, and food prices will surely soar. Cap and Tax will touch every corner of our economy as-is, and will make virtually everything more expensive…including food. A reduction in food production would only exacerbate the misery. What kind of boneheaded move is this, when we already have reduced production due to farmers growing corn for ethanol?
The Senate is likely to consider a similar bill to the Apollo Alliance and Tides Foundation-written House plan this fall. Obama’s Green Czar, Van Jones, has already been given control of billions from the Stimulus plan. He will gain immense power if Cap and Trade passes.
Don’t take your eyes off the whole picture– part of the liberal strategy is to overload you. Cap and Trade needs to stay in the forefront of your protests; Democrats have threatened to pass it via reconciliation just like they have with Obamacare. They are willing to ram both through with simple majority votes…via a practice not meant for legislation other than budgets. Turn the table on your Representatives who are holding town halls between now and September 8th. Ask them about Cap and Trade–which Obama has admitted will make electricity costs SOAR. I assure you, they probably haven’t read the almost 1500 page-long bill. Here it is, so you can.

WTF is BofA getting involved in this? Customers must have threatened to withdraw their deposits. Or does this have to do with bailout money?
It’s absolutely about bailout money….That is what the bailout money was intended for, to own people’s asses….Nothing has been bailed out, we’re still screwed!!!

I wished that I could give Obama a single ounce of credit for anything at all, but I can’t come up with one thing that he deserves credit for….He hates Americans, he hates white people and he won’t rest until he has inflicted as much pain as he possibly can on this country….His diseased mind hates the fact that he was ever born.
