Long May She Wave!
We thought it might be fun to attach a face to the personalities we’ve been communicating with.
I’ll be updating this post each time I receive a new photograph.
I am a retired Govt Contracting Officer with over 32 years service.
I moved back to my original home in New Bern NC after I retired in 2003.
I have a daughter who just recently moved here also- she is 34 and I have a son, who is 32 and he lives in Orlando, Fl. Neither are married so I am not a Grandma.
Unfortunately or fortunately I am no longer married. Been divorced for 19 years. Felt 3 times put me out of the ball game – LOL.
I am an extremely independent and outspoken person. My pet peeve is stupidity. My hobbies include reading (my Bible, Christian romance and Christian prophecy) and working in my yard, which is over 3-1/2 acres. I have quite a menagerie of animals – two Pekingese’s (Bucky and Cindy Lou), four kitties (Binx, Rainey, Socs, and Speckles – Speckles is new and she was born with only one front leg), three birds, cockatiel – Piper, two parakeets, Jazzy and Kippy), an aquarium full of fish, and I also inherited a few weeks ago an outside kitty who has taken up at my home but won’t let me near him. So all I can do for him is ensure he is properly fed.
Me when I was 26 years old in Charleston SC at the Fort Sumter memorial.
Me and my teenagers at Vacation Bible School. I teach crafts every year at my church for all age groups.
You all know me as the guy from Texas that, sometimes, writes some pretty outlandish stuff, here at our little blog site. Yes, it’s true that I can be a bit austere, but I’m really a teddy bear, honest!!!
Since that is about all that you folks know about me, I will share, with you, a little more. I’m forty-nine years old and single, as of 2002. My ex and I never had children, so here is a photo of me, in my early forties, with the only two kids that I’ve ever had. The one on the right is Bear and he lived for 15 & 1/2 years and the other one is Shiner and he lived for 17 years They were littermates and I found them abandoned at about six weeks old.
I have two favorite hobbies, one of which is fishing, and here are some photos of recent catches.
Rose, yesterday you mentioned kayaks. Did you notice what is in the bed of the pick-up truck behind me?
My favorite hobby is searching for and collecting Indian arrowheads / artifacts. I started collecting in my early twenties. Here is a photo from then of me standing next to a large frame of arrowheads that are surrounding a rattlesnake. I encountered the snake while out searching through a creek bottom. I won!!!
Here is a photo from my late twenties in which I display a tiny portion of what is now my collection. My oldest finds date back to around 12,000 BC and are from the Clovis culture.
BTW, I have had a pretty good summer, in terms of good finds. Here is a photo of a couple of very nicely made blades.
Some would say that I am an expert in the craft of auto body and paint restoration.
Here is a link to a slide show of and old 1948 Ford Coupe that my father found and purchased.
Click the center to start the show. You can use the “forward” button in the bottom right corner to speed up the slides. The slides show the vehicle as it was found and progresses through the restoration phase. My dad and I, both, did the body repairs, I did all of the paint work and pop did all of the mechanical work. We spent about 1 1/2 years on it and finished it about four years ago. It’s quite a gem now.
I worked in the craft for eighteen years and taught / trained others for an additional ten years and I’m now pretty much retired.
Ok, that’s me in a nutshell and as Porky would say, “Ah-blee, Ah-blee, Ah-blee, That’s all folks”!!!
