“I’m Gonna Win”

Another dark night, in the city
And my prospects lookin’ thin
The survival, of the fittest
Is the law, in the world that I live in

I was not born, to be a fighter
But now’s the time I have to learn
To keep my head, above the water
Gotta play with fire, but not get burned

I gotta stand up, I gotta face it
Don’t want to lose it
I want to taste it while it’s hot
Don’t want to waste it, I need it so bad

I’m gonna win, yeah
I’m gonna win
You see it’s a matter of pride
Deep down inside
I’m gonna win, yeah
I’m gonna win

I got no time, to sit and wonder
I got myself, to reckon with
Yeah and life won’t drag me under
Even if it takes, all I have to give
I’ll give it all

I gotta stand up, I gotta face it
Don’t want to lose it
Ooh I want to taste it while it’s hot
Don’t want to waste it, my mind’s made up

I’m gonna win
I’m gonna win
I tell you, see when it comes down to the crunch
I’ve gotta beat life to the punch
I’m gonna win
Somehow I know I’m gonna win
You know
I’ve got to fight to stay alive
Kick it in to overdrive
I’m gonna win, ooh, ooh, ooh
I’m gonna win

I’m gonna win
I’m gonna win
You see it’s a matter of pride
Deep down inside
I’m gonna win
Gonna win, gonna win
Ooh, I’ll pay the price
Gonna win
No more Mr. Nice
Gonna win
Hey, just watch me roll the dice
I’m gonna win, win, win
I’m gonna win, win, gonna win
I’m gonna win
I know I’m gonna win

World Net Daily Drops The POTUS Ineligiblity Ball…
Posted in Uncategorized on June 23, 2009 by naturalborncitizen

World Net Daily White House Correspondent Les Kinsolving recently had the chance to ask Obama’s Press Secretary Gibbs a question about the eligibility issue and he fumbled at the golden goal.

Whether they know it or not, WND is causing massive distraction by feeding the birth certificate smokescreen more and more fire while consistently failing to concentrate national focus on the core legal issue – Obama admits to being a British citizen at birth and therefore could not have been a “natural born citizen” of the United States as is required by the Constitution.

Phil at Right Side of Life has the most in depth coverage and actual video footage of the WND-White House Experience.

Fox News and the London Times also covered the eligibility issue and Phil has all of that at the link above.

I am very concerned that the amount of serious media attention the birth certificate issue is currently generating is NOT due to some mass awakening of citizens but rather a calculated device put in place by the powers that be as a set up for crushing the eligibility movement once and for all.

One of these days the Obama administration might serve up for your culinary consumption the most perfect long form birth certificate you could ever imagine. Hawaii officials will vouch for its authenticity under oath if need be. And numerous forensic experts will substantiate its veracity.

Then the POTUS eligibility movement is going to look like a vast nutjob right wing conspiracy.

And the ineligible one will be so much stronger and more powerful for it.

The BC thing is a side dish, not the main course. Any discussion of the BC issue should be subordinate to the dual national issue.

The false BC theory is – without a doubt – a conspiracy theory of epic proportions. Nobody can deny that it’s a textbook conspiracy theory. Regardless of whether he has a genuine long form BC saying he was born in Hawaii, the concept that the COLB is a forgery would certainly concern a vast conspiracy to defraud the American people. Conspiracies do exist, but they have a very bad reputation and the media can spin them as kookery with ease.

The dual nationality issue is NOT a conspiracy theory. It’s a genuine legal question. Obama admits he was a dual citizen at birth. Eligibility advocates have simply questioned whether that makes him ineligible to be President under Article 2 Section 1 Clause 5 of the US Constitution.

    BC = Conspiracy theory

Now doesn’t it make sense that they would rather focus ridicule on the conspiracy theory by allowing broad discussion of it rather than face a genuine legal question to which the great body of law and precedent stands to threaten their power grip?

But you just keep believing in false legal prophets. Go on. See where it gets you America.

Let me make this perfectly clear – below is the question that must be asked of White House Press Secretary Gibbs should anyone ever have the chance again. It’s been crafted with razor sharp precision so that slippery tongued vixens can’t slither out of the truth nexus without exposing themselves to even the most sleepy of audiences.

Make this question your mantra. Don’t be distracted from it.

During the election, then Senator Obama published a statement at his website which said that his birth status was “governed” by the British Nationality Act of 1948. Can you please tell the American people how a natural born citizen of the United States can be governed – at birth – by British law?

Troy – just saw that. Leo has been consistently warning everyone about the danger of pursuing the birth certificate issue from day one. I agree with him- it seems all too convenient – all set up to discredit.

Infinite resources are now theirs. Any original document of any age or origin can be produced. Any computer files can now be deleted and created. Any school forms or history can be constructed. Any witness or memory can be purchased. Anyone can be bribed or strong armed. Everything will be opened up and poof, like magic, a perfect American success story will be laid out in front of us.

Yet the perfect dispute of Obama’s ineligibility was placed in plain sight on his website yet all the energy is focused on the birth certificate.

I hope everyone with a public forum starts asking the question Leo has carefully worded for us.

“”During the election, then Senator Obama published a statement at his website which said that his birth status was “governed” by the British Nationality Act of 1948. Re: “Can you please tell the American people how a natural born citizen of the United States can be governed – at birth – by British law?”

Because a foreign law does not affect US Citizenship in any way. Consider this example. Say that Mexico were to pass a law making all the people in Texas also citizens of Mexico.

Would that law mean that the people in Texas were suddenly no longer Natural Born Citizens?

If someone is a Natural Born Citizen under US law, no foreign law can take that right away. So, if Obama was born in Hawaii, the fact that his father was a foreign citizen and the fact that for a time Britain considered Obama to be British is irrelevant. SO long as the criteria of Natural Born Citizen is met, no foreign law can take that away.

What is the criteria? Simply birth in the USA. The fact that one parent, or even two parents was not a US citizen, does not affect Natural Born Status.

And that is why such prominent conservative Senators who are also lawyers as Orren Hatch and Lindsay Graham say that a Natural Born Citizen is simply one who was born in the USA:

    Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), said:

“Every child born in the United States is a natural-born United States citizen except for the children of diplomats.” (December 11, 2008 letter to constituent)

Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT), said:

“What is a natural born citizen? Clearly, someone born within the United States or one of its territories is a natural born citizen.” (Senate Judiciary Committee hearing hearing on OCTOBER 5, 2004)

Months ago, on this blog site, I warned of a “bank holiday”….When this happens you will see scenes of Iran in every city and town in the U.S.
    Bankster “Holiday” Planned for September?
    by DefendUSx June 22, 2009 21:37

    Kurt Nimmo
    June 22, 2009

Bob Chapman’s influential International Forecaster is reporting on the possibility of a so-called “bank holiday” planned for late August or early September. According to Chapman’s sources, U.S. embassies around the world are selling dollars and stockpiling money from respective countries where they operate.

FDR imposed a “bank holiday” soon after taking office. It resulted in the government stealing gold from the American people and giving them useless fiat paper money in return.

“Some US embassies worldwide are being advised to purchase massive amounts of local currencies,” writes Harry Schultz, “enough to last them a year.” Schultz publishes the Harry Schultz Letter, an international investment, financial, economic, and geopolitical newsletter named as “Newsletter of the Year” by Peter Brimelow of Market Watch in 2005 and 2008.

Schultz believes the global elite are in the process of engineering an FDR-style “bank holiday” of undetermined length in order to “sort-out the bank mess” and impose new bank rules.

On March 5, 1933, in the depths of the banker engineered “Great Depression,” newly elected Franklin Roosevelt declared a “bank holiday” that forced banks closed for four days. Roosevelt then rammed the Emergency Banking Act through the legislature. Passed by Congress on March 9, the act granted FDR near dictatorial control over the dealings of banks. It also allowed the Secretary of the Treasury the power to compel every person and business in the country to relinquish their gold and accept paper currency in exchange.

On March 10, Roosevelt issued Executive Order No. 6073, forbidding people from sending gold overseas and forbidding banks from paying out gold. A few weeks later, on April 5, Roosevelt issued Executive Order No. 6102 ordering Americans to deliver their gold and gold certificates to the Federal Reserve bank in exchange for paper fiat money.

In other words, FDR engaged in one of history’s greatest rip-offs — that is until now.

FDR not only ripped-off the American people, but foreigners holding dollars as well, thus ensuring the “Great Depression” would spread around the world like a bankster engineered contagion.

As Schultz notes, another forced “bank holiday” will likely lead to a formal devaluation of the already broadsided U.S. dollar. “But devalue against what? The euro? Doubtful. Gold? Maybe. Or vs. the IMF basket of currencies,” which he feels is more likely.

In fact, this is precisely what the globalist have in mind. In March, the media reported the IMF was poised print billions of “global quantitative easing” dollars to be dubbed global “super-currency” to address the (bankster engineered) economic crisis. “The principle behind it is that everyone would get bonus dollars and instead of the Federal Reserve having to print them, everyone gets them,” declared Simon Johnson, former chief economist at the IMF.

    Can you say inflation?

It is no secret the elite have envisioned a global currency for some time now. In 2007, the director of international economics at the Council on Foreign Relations stated that the dollar and the euro are but temporary currencies. “It is the market that made the dollar into global money – and what the market giveth, the market can taketh away. If the tailors balk and the dollar falls, the market may privatize money on its own,” Benn Steil pontificated.
More like the banksters taketh away — and not only money but national sovereignty as well because a global currency will demand an end to “monetary nationalism.”

Or as Richard N. Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, has said, “states must be prepared to cede some sovereignty to world bodies if the international system is to function.”

Mr. Schultz believes a “bank holiday” would suit the burning desires of the international bankster elite. It will lead to “nationalization,” which is a polite word for brazen thievery. It will allow the government — owned lock, stock and barrel by the global elite and run by their corrupt whores and cronies — to rape secured creditors and bondholders. Nationalization is the unfettered process of grabbing up of insurance companies, mortgage companies, banks, medical care, and car companies and handing them over to the monopoly men.

During the FDR “bank holiday,” Schulz notes, “thousands of banks never reopened; it was a face-saving way of shutting them down. I would guess the same would occur today; thousands have little or no net value, loaded with debt, bad mortgages.”

In order soften the nation up for the coming pillage, the Obama administration has proposed a plan to give the privately-owned and unaccountable Federal Reserve complete regulatory oversight across the entire U.S. economy. The new rules would see the Fed given the authority to “regulate” any company whose activity it believes could threaten the economy and the markets — that is to say if it “threatens” the monopolistic interests of the bankers.

“Obama’s regulatory ‘reform’ plan is nothing less than a green light for the complete and total takeover of the United States by a private banking cartel that will usurp the power of existing regulatory bodies, who are now being blamed for the financial crisis in order that their status can be abolished and their roles handed over to the all-powerful Fed,” write Paul Joseph and Steve Watson. “The government is ready to hand over everything to a monolithic private corporation and a gaggle of bastard banker offspring, that have gobbled up an amount close to the entire GDP of the country in taxpayers’ money and figuratively stuck the middle finger up regarding questions over where that money has gone.”

A “bank holiday” would work wonders for any “regulation” the Fed and the bankers have in mind. It would compliment the criminal consolidation now underway. It would allow them to finally and formally devalue the dollar and usher in a global “super currency” of control and enslavement.

A Bob Chapman subscriber added a little dinger to the prospect of the banks going dark. The subscriber claims to overheard two men in FEMA jackets talking with a police chief in California, all who agreed that the federalization of police around the country — a process largely complete — will be required if the banks are shuttered in late August or early September because it will get “ugly” out there.

No doubt. Because the sort of enduring and polite American who weathered the “Great Depression” is now in seriously short supply.

If Mr. Schultz’s prediction is correct, we can expect riots in bank foyers and ultimately martial law.

    Negotiating with Terrorists
The Obama administration ignores a longstanding — and life-saving — policy.

    By Andrew C. McCarthy

As the Iranian government’s murderous repression of the Iranian people continues, critics right and left agitate over the deafening silence of an American president who, as a candidate, derided the Bush administration’s ambitious democracy promotion as too timid. They speculate as to why Barack Obama won’t speak out: Why won’t he condemn the mullahs? Is he daft enough to believe he can charm the regime into abandoning its nuclear ambitions? Does the self-described realist so prize stability that he thinks it’s worth abandoning the cause of freedom — and the best chance in 30 years of dislodging an implacable American enemy?

In truth, it’s worse than that. Even as the mullahs are terrorizing the Iranian people, the Obama administration is negotiating with an Iranian-backed terrorist organization and abandoning the American proscription against exchanging terrorist prisoners for hostages kidnapped by terrorists. Worse still, Obama has already released a terrorist responsible for the brutal murders of five American soldiers in exchange for the remains of two deceased British hostages.

    Prepare to be infuriated.

On Jan. 20, 2007, five American soldiers were killed and three seriously wounded in Iraq. As Bill Roggio relates at the Long War Journal, it was a daring operation: a twelve-man terrorist team disguised as U.S. servicemen attacked our troops as they held a previously arranged meeting with local officials in Karbala. Four of the soldiers were alive when they were abducted from the scene. They were handcuffed and murdered in a remote location when the coalition forces attempting to rescue them closed in.

Given the sophistication of the raid and the intelligence required to pull it off, it was a virtual certainty that the mullahs’ special forces, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, were behind it. More than a decade earlier, in concert with Hezbollah (Iran’s forward terrorist militia), the IRGC had bombed the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, killing 19 members of the United States Air Force. In Karbala, the IRGC had relied on what Michael Ledeen of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies aptly calls its “most lethal element,” the Quds (Jerusalem) Force, in combination with a burgeoning, Hezbollah-like network of local Shiite terrorists.

This was confirmed two months later when U.S. forces captured Ali Mussa Daqduq, a high-ranking veteran of Hezbollah, in Basrah. As Roggio explains, Daqduq had been tasked by Iran to organize a network of terror cells to strike coalition forces in Iraq. The network would operate under the direction of Qais Qazali. Qazali and his brother, Laith Qazali, were captured along with Daqduq.

Unquestionably, Iran, acting through the Qazali network — which is better known as Asaib al-Haq, or the League of the Righteous — was responsible for the murder of our troops in Karbala. As Ledeen documents in his book The Iranian Time Bomb (reviewed here), Gen. David Petraeus made that clear at an April 2007 press conference. Petraeus detailed that the Qazali brothers were among “the key members” of a network of “extremist secret cells.” These groups, he said,

were provided substantial funding, training on Iranian soil, advanced explosive munitions and technologies as well as run-of-the-mill arms and ammunition, in some cases advice and in some cases even a degree of direction. When we captured these individuals . . . we discovered . . . a 22-page memorandum on a computer that detailed the planning, preparation, approval process, and conduct of the operation that resulted in five of our soldiers being killed in Karbala . . . . There are numerous documents which detailed a number of different attacks on coalition forces, and our sense is that these records were kept so that they could be handed in to whoever it is that is financing them. And there’s no question, again, that Iranian financing is taking place through the Quds Force of the Iranian Republican [sic] Guards Corps.

About two weeks ago, the Obama administration released Laith Qazali after extensive negotiations with the Asaib al-Haq terror network. That network has long been in negotiations with the fledgling Iraqi government, dangling the possibility of laying down its arms, renouncing violence, and integrating into Iraqi society, provided that its top members — particularly Qais and Laith Qazali, as well as Ali Mussa Daqduq — be released. Realizing, however, that these terrorists were responsible for kidnapping and killing American soldiers in gross violation of the laws of war, the Bush administration had declined to release them.

The Obama administration has not only released Laith Qazali, it has been in negotiations to release his brother, Qais Qazali, as well. The negotiations and release were carried out in flagrant disregard of the longstanding policy against exchanging prisoners for the release of hostages. Undermining that policy endangers all American troops and civilian personnel — as well as the troops and civilian personnel of our allies — by encouraging terrorists to kidnap them to use as bargaining chips.

The story of this deal with the devil traces back to May 31, 2007. At the Iraqi finance ministry in Baghdad that day, the Asaib al-Haq network kidnapped five British civilians: an information-technology expert named Peter Moore and his four contract bodyguards. The civilians pleaded for the British government to engineer their safe return. British, American, and Iraqi forces were unsuccessful in numerous rescue attempts.

Asaib al-Haq operatives told Iraqi-government officials that they would release the Brits in exchange for the Qazali brothers and Daqduq. The Bush administration refused. The Times of London has reported that the Americans gave the British request respectful consideration but declined to approve it absent an Iraqi commitment to prosecute the terrorists. The Iraqis refused. Mohammad al-Sa’ady, an adviser to Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, rationalized the decision to take no action against the murderers of Americans who died fighting for Iraqis this way: “We pointed out that Qais Qazali has a problem with the Americans. He doesn’t have a problem with us. He is not wanted for crimes against Iraqis.”

By contrast, President Obama was persuaded to free Laith Qazali outright, just as Obama previously had authorized the outright release to Britain of the al-Qaeda terrorist Binyam Mohammed, who had plotted with “dirty bomber” José Padilla to commit post-9/11 mass-murder attacks in American cities. And although the administration has attempted to pass off Laith Qazali’s release as a necessary compromise of American national interests for the purportedly greater good of Iraqi reconciliation, the camouflage is thin indeed. Transparently, the terrorist has been freed as a quid pro quo for the release of British hostages. According to the New York Times, Sami al-Askari, another Maliki mouthpiece, told an interviewer:

This is a very sensitive topic because you know the position that the Iraqi government, the U.S. and British governments, and all the governments do not accept the idea of exchanging hostages for prisoners. . . . So we put it in another format, and we told them that if they want to participate in the political process they cannot do so while they are holding hostages. And we mentioned to the American side that they cannot join in the political process and release their hostages while their leaders are behind bars or imprisoned.

That President Obama has exchanged a terrorist for hostages is now obvious, as should be the disastrous consequences.

In the wake of Laith Qazali’s release, the Asaib al-Haq network was unsatisfied; it continued to demand the release of its leader, Qais Qazali, and that of Daqduq. The terrorists did, however, release two of their British hostages, or, to be precise, their corpses: Jason Creswell of Glasgow and Jason Swindlehurst of Lancashire had been dead for weeks, perhaps longer, when their remains were turned over to the British embassy in Iraq. As the U.K.’s Independent recounted, the bodies had been “taken from an Iraqi government building in the centre of the Iraqi capital by men in police uniform, past army checkpoints and a second security screen into Sadr City, the base of Shia militias, all signs, say the men’s families, of official collusion.”

Back in May 2008, in a speech before the Israeli Knesset, President Bush derided the “foolish delusion” of unidentified, naïve politicians who “seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along.” Exhibiting a thin-skinned consciousness of guilt, Sen. Barack Obama assumed Bush had been referring to him, and lashed out: “George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists.”

President Obama is now way beyond mere support of such engagement. Under his leadership, and even as the mullahs who have been at war with the United States for 30 years are engaged in a Tiananmen-style crackdown, Obama is neck-deep in terrorist-for-hostages negotiations with Iran-backed killers who have American blood on their hands.

To what end? Other than emboldening terrorists everywhere with the message that the way to gain American concessions is to kidnap Americans and American allies, all we have achieved by freeing a murderer of American soldiers is the retrieval of two British murder victims when we’d been led to believe that all five hostages still were alive. And still there is the implied threat that, if Qais Qazali and Ali Mussa Daqduq are not released soon, the other three British hostages — assuming they are still alive — will be murdered.

The media have had precious little to say about this astounding performance. But I daresay the American people will be outraged if and when the details become known. The Justice Department’s effort to release prisoner-abuse photos that were tailor-made for jihadist propaganda was bad enough. But now the Obama administration is both engaging the worst operatives of the most execrable enemy regime and encouraging all terrorists to take more hostages — and even to kill them, since killing hostages plainly doesn’t disqualify terrorist organizations from winning valuable concessions.

Finally, one more matter must be considered. Laith Qazali was released on or about June 8. Only days later, four Uighur detainees — who are affiliated with an officially designated terrorist organization and received jihadist training in camps connected to al-Qaeda — were released from Guantanamo Bay and flown to Bermuda. The transfer was effected after secret negotiations between the Obama administration and Bermudian premier Ewart Brown. The deal, as both sides obviously know, appears to be a violation of Bermuda’s constitution and an affront to the United Kingdom, which is responsible for Bermuda’s security and international relations.

Neither Premier Brown’s cabinet nor the people of Bermuda were consulted about the relocation of jihadists to their island. The British government, moreover, has publicly indicated that it was not privy to the transfer, and that it was saddled, instead, with a fait accompli. Is this true? While the British foreign office and its governor in Bermuda have assumed a posture of anger, they have also indicated they are resigned to the transfer and will refrain from any action to reverse it.

One theory, inevitably speculative, is that Britain’s acceptance of the Uighur transfer is the price the Obama administration exacted for trading an American-killing terrorist for what turned out to be the bodies of two British hostages. If this were the case — and, again, it’s just a theory — that would mean that life-saving policies against negotiating with terrorists, or bartering captive terrorists for hostages, have been abandoned in the service of Obama’s reckless commitment to close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp by January.

Ron Paul: economic collapse goal of this administration

    by DefendUSx June 24, 2009 12:31

Tell us something we don’t know Ron!

    Ron Paul
    June 24, 2009

Last week Congress passed the war supplemental appropriations bill. In an affront to all those who thought they voted for a peace candidate, the current (alleged) president will be sending another $106 billion we don’t have to continue the bloodshed in Afghanistan and Iraq, without a hint of a plan to bring our troops home.

We are buying nothing but evil and global oppression by sending your taxdollars to the IMF.

Many of my colleagues who voted with me as I opposed every war supplemental request under the previous administration seem to have changed their tune. I maintain that a vote to fund the war is a vote in favor of the war. Congress exercises its constitutional prerogatives through the power of the purse, and as long as Congress continues to enable these dangerous interventions abroad, there is no end in sight, that is until we face total economic collapse.

From their spending habits, an economic collapse seems to be the goal of Congress and this administration. Washington spends with impunity domestically, bailing out and nationalizing everything they can get their hands on, and the foreign aid and IMF funding in this bill can rightly be called an international bailout!

As Americans struggle through the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, this emergency supplemental appropriations bill sends $660 million to Gaza, $555 million to Israel, $310 million to Egypt, $300 million to Jordan, and $420 million to Mexico. Some $889 million will be sent to the United Nations for so-called “peacekeeping” missions. Almost one billion dollars will be sent overseas to address the global financial crisis outside our borders. Nearly $8 billion will be spent to address a “potential pandemic flu” which could result in mandatory vaccinations for no discernable reason other than to enrich the pharmaceutical companies that make the vaccine.

Perhaps most outrageous is the $108 billion loan guarantee to the International Monetary Fund. These new loan guarantees will allow that destructive organization to continue spending taxpayer money to prop up corrupt leaders and promote harmful economic policies overseas.
Not only does sending American taxpayer money to the IMF hurt citizens here, evidence shows that it even hurts those it pretends to help. Along with IMF loans comes IMF required policy changes, called Structural Adjustment Programs, which amount to forced Keynesianism. This is the very fantasy-infused economic model that has brought our own country to its knees, and IMF loans act as the Trojan Horse to inflict it on others. Perhaps most troubling is the fact that leaders in recipient nations tend to become more concerned with the wishes of international elites than the wishes and needs of their own people. Argentina and Kenya are just two examples of countries that followed IMF mandates right off a cliff. The IMF frequently recommends currency devaluation to poorer nations, which has wiped out the already impoverished over and over. There is also a long list of brutal dictators the IMF happily supported and propped up with loans that left their oppressed populace in staggering amounts of debt with no economic progress to show for it.

We are buying nothing but evil and global oppression by sending your taxdollars to the IMF. Not to mention there is no Constitutional authority to do so. Our continued presence in Iraq and Afghanistan does not make us safer at home, but in fact undermines our national security. I vehemently opposed this Supplemental Appropriations Bill and was dismayed to see it pass so easily.

WTF is going on here?….Guv Sanford refuses federal “bailout” money and threatens to sucede from the union (basicly stands up for his state’s rights) and then this marital affair scandal?….Huh???….None of it makes any sense to me…..No one (politician) is stupid enough to intentionally pull a disappearing act and then return to do a news conference and admit to having an affair….I repeat, No one is that effing stupid!!!….It all seems orchestrated and planned to me…..What is it that could prompt a high ranking Guv to intentionally self destruct?….Was he pressured?….Was he threatened?….Was he afraid for his family’s safety?….Were they threatened?….Something smells very fishy here.

Check this out….Guv Sanford collaborating with Russia???….Huh???…WTF???

“Something is rotten in the state of Denmark”
SC Governor is/was serious about suceeding from US

    by DefendUSx June 23, 2009 16:40

According to author/world analyst with ties to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sorcha Faal reports:

Russian Foreign Ministry sources are reporting to President Medvedev today that the Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford [photo top left], arrived at Russia’s Ottawa Embassy seeking ‘immediate assistance and protection’ for his plan to succeed from the United States over what he states is the ‘planned annihilation of his country’ by a ‘criminal cabal’ headed by the current US President Barack Obama.

According to this bizarre report, Governor Sanford, who has been reported as “missing” for the past week after evading his security detail, pleaded with Ambassador Mamedov to have Russia become the first country to recognize the ‘New Nation’ of South Carolina upon its succession from the United States and promised in return that Russian Military Forces would have ‘total and immediate’ access to his States ports and airfields.

Russian legal authorities state in these reports that Governor Sanford’s statements under US law could be construed as treasonous, though they doubt that Obama would seek prosecution opting, instead, to ‘neutralize’ this threat as most US Presidents have done in the past, most notably Louisiana Governor Huey Long who was assassinated in 1935 after his threats to succeed from the United States during the Great Depression.

Reports from the United States about Governor Sanford state that he is firmly opposed to Obama and the socialization of his country, with some of these reports even speculating that Obama wants him dead, and as we can read:

“In a chilling story that seems more at home on a television police drama than in a conservative political blog, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has gone missing. The South Carolina Governor emerged as an early and outspoken opponent of President Barrack Hussein Obama’s stimulus funding and even refused to take federal money. The Republican Governor was last seen on Thursday when he was sighted in a South Carolina Law Enforcement Vehicle. His wife has no idea where he is.

There is no doubt that Sanford’s opposition to Obama’s stimulus plan made him a very powerful enemy with a powerful motivation to silence him.”

These reports further state that Governor Sanford was ‘extremely upset’ over the near assassination of former US President Jimmy Carter last week and stated to Ambassador Mamedov, “see…they can even kill a president and the Zionist media controlling everything wont’ even report it.”

Most interesting to note about South Carolina is that it became the first State to succeed from the United States when it left the Union on December 20, 1860 after the election of President Abraham Lincoln and which started the Civil War that left over 1 million Americans dead and wounded in its worst ever conflict.

More curiously about South Carolina is its State flag [2nd photo left], which on January 28, 1861, became the National flag of the newly seceded Republic of South Carolina and is steeped in occult symbolism holding the ancient symbol of the Crescent Moon honoring the aging goddess and which to the Islamic faith means victory over death.

Most importantly, however, of these events now occurring in the United States is that they have been predicted by some of Russia’s most important diplomats, and as we can read as reported by the RIA Novosti News Service:

“A leading Russian political analyst has said the economic turmoil in the United States has confirmed his long-held view that the country is heading for collapse, and will divide into separate parts.

Professor Igor Panarin said in an interview with the respected daily Izvestia published on Monday: “The dollar is not secured by anything. The country’s foreign debt has grown like an avalanche, even though in the early 1980s there was no debt. By 1998, when I first made my prediction, it had exceeded $2 trillion. Now it is more than 11 trillion. This is a pyramid that can only collapse.”

The paper said Panarin’s dire predictions for the U.S. economy, initially made at an international conference in Australia 10 years ago at a time when the economy appeared strong, have been given more credence by this year’s events.

When asked when the U.S. economy would collapse, Panarin said: “It is already collapsing. Due to the financial crisis, three of the largest and oldest five banks on Wall Street have already ceased to exist, and two are barely surviving. Their losses are the biggest in history. Now what we will see is a change in the regulatory system on a global financial scale: America will no longer be the world’s financial regulator.”

When asked who would replace the U.S. in regulating world markets, he said: “Two countries could assume this role: China, with its vast reserves, and Russia, which could play the role of a regulator in Eurasia.”

    >Asked why he expected the U.S. to break up into separate parts, he said: “A whole range of reasons. Firstly, the financial problems in the U.S. will get worse. Millions of citizens there have lost their savings. Prices and unemployment are on the rise. General Motors and Ford are on the verge of collapse, and this means that whole cities will be left without work. Governors are already insistently demanding money from the federal center. Dissatisfaction is growing, and at the moment it is only being held back by the elections and the hope that Obama can work miracles. But by spring, it will be clear that there are no miracles.”

He also cited the “vulnerable political setup”, “lack of unified national laws”, and “divisions among the elite, which have become clear in these crisis conditions.”

    >He predicted that the U.S. will break up into six parts – the Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population; the South, with its Hispanics; Texas, where independence movements are on the rise; the Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality; five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and the northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong.

He even suggested that “we could claim Alaska – it was only granted on lease, after all.”

On the fate of the U.S. dollar, he said: “In 2006 a secret agreement was reached between Canada, Mexico and the U.S. on a common Amero currency as a new monetary unit. This could signal preparations to replace the dollar. The one-hundred dollar bills that have flooded the world could be simply frozen. Under the pretext, let’s say, that terrorists are forging them and they need to be checked.”

When asked how Russia should react to his vision of the future, Panarin said: “Develop the ruble as a regional currency. Create a fully functioning oil exchange, trading in rubles… We must break the strings tying us to the financial Titanic, which in my view will soon sink.”

Panarin, 60, is a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has authored several books on information warfare.”

No doubt that this was orchestated….I can smell it from here….Everything we see and hear these days is all a effing sham.

  37. jrinNC Says:

I agree Troy – something is not quite kosher. Why would someone fight so strongly then give up everything under a scandal such as this. It’s like the total GOP is being totally annihilated. One party, one world order???????

j.b. thanks for the info on cap and trade — I’ve forwarded the info to the President of our local tea party group and asked that he send it to our members.

  39. CJ Says:

This Sanford thing really is strange. Seems his wife asked him to leave a couple weeks ago. Just when his star was rising in the GOP this scandal pops up. I sure hope Sarah stands strong because they will be viscious in trying to bring her down. They are chipping away at it all the time in her home state. So far, they haven’t found anything like the Sanford stuff. Was it the Obama thugs or his own party that cut him down? But if he had the affair he has to pay the consequences now that it is public fodder. Practice what you preach. Marital hypocrisy is rampant with these politicians. Question is: who started the process of spilling the beans on this guy? My bet is the Obama dems who are deathly afraid of anyone bringing their lord and master down in 2012.

  40. Troy Says:

It may be possible that the entire “affair” story is concocted and was an agreed upon way for Sanford to end his reign in SC….Make no mistake about it, he will resign as guv.

It is almost the entire Congress on both sides of the isle, the Supremes, the State Department, CIA, The Federal Reserve, The press, the CFR, and another 100 or more elitist outside our country. It is practically the entire Democrat party even at the state and large municipality levels. It is most of the judicial system. It is incorporated churches. It is darn near the entire education system. It is every dumbed-down citizen that has abdicated their responsibility to fight for our God given rights. To some extent, I am to blame. People who were no different than I was 2 years ago are to blame. I will not quit. They can put me in the guillotine, but I will not surrender until a government of law not men reigns again in at least the state of Colorado. I can’t save the whole bloody country, but maybe a few million of me can. I want my grandson to have a shot at living in a free republic. I will not quit.

No one has to refuse any of his orders. Court martials are handed down the chain of command starting with the President.

So anyone facing a court martial right now for any reason at all, can file this criminal complaint, saying they want to know of “what authority” does Obama have to continue with the court martial?

He has no authority because he’s a foreign born domestic enemy 🙂

For these military men/women to file a criminal charge right back at Obama, he will have to defend himself in court to prove he is even a citizen or a NBC for that matter.

So, you see….Obama can’t and won’t push forward existing court martials or court martials coming down the pike, because he will have several counter suits filed against him.

It doesn’t matter how many. We just need one 🙂

Dr. Orrin Devinsky, a neurologist at the New York University Langone Medical Center, challenged Obama: What if the president’s wife and daughters got sick? Would Obama promise that they would get only the services allowed under a new government insurance plan he’s proposing?

    Obama wouldn’t bite.

If “it’s my family member, if it’s my wife, if it’s my children, if it’s my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care,” Obama said.

Underground, grass roots should be ramped up and organized like their side has done. I’ll ask again: WHERE IS OUR LEGITIMATE LEADERSHIP?” One more knocked out yesterday with the outing of Sanford. If someone doesn’t take the reins and get an opposition started that has some real teeth then kiss 2010 and 2012 goodbye for any re-taking of our government. From then on, all bets will be off.

Also, Barbara Bachmann is being called a lawbreaker by the Commerce Sec. for refusing to answer questions about herself and family on the census. It is starting to be out in the open that our privacy rights will be assaulted. Violation again of our Constitutional rights. She is standing up for herself and all of us, she has major issues with Acorn, but she is now a target. I thought she would become one a lot sooner because she is unafraid to state her opposition and is emerging as a leader that people like and agree with. A true family and American advocate. We all need to have her back and watch out for her. Send her an email or letter of support. I hope she doesn’t have anything in her past that will become Obama thug fodder to knock her out of the game like Sanford. He did bring it on himself though. Gave them a big door to walk through to get him. Interesting that a newspaper had the emails of his affair a long time ago and just sat on them. Who gives them their marching orders again? Oh yeah, the lefty, liberal machine. Bet they wanted to hold them a bit longer to get closer to 2012 but it was too good an opportunity to dispose of him early. Sanford probably knew all along he was a sitting duck. Could be why he never would say he was thinking of a run for Pres. in 2012.

Save money? I thought the left kept saying money doesn’t matter with healthcare?
Posted by Warner Todd Huston (Profile)

Thursday, June 25th at 6:45AM EDT

I am wondering when the euthanasia folks are going to start touting this one? I mean, it sure seemed to me as if the most caring, most civil, most intelligent president evah just said that healthcare could be cheaper if we don’t give old folks and the infirm the full measure of care they now get. It appeared that Obama said we should just let them die or suffer because they aren’t worth the effort. Imagine if Bush had said something like this? The left wouldn’t have hesitated to call him any manner of names.

Obama said during the ABC Special on Wednesday night that a way to save healthcare costs is to abandon the sort of care that “evidence shows is not necessarily going to improve” the patient’s health. He went on to say that he had personal familiarity with such a situation when his grandmother broke her hip after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Obama offered a question on the efficacy of further care for his grandmother saying, “and the question was, does she get hip replacement surgery, even though she was fragile enough they were not sure how long she would last?”

But who is it that will present the “evidence” that will “show” that further care is futile? Are we to believe that Obama expects individual doctors will make that decision in his bold new government controlled healthcare future? If he is trying to make that claim it is a flat out untruth and he knows it.

Does your homebuilder negotiate with your city hall over whether you get a building permit, or does the permit get levied no matter what? Does a cop decide if you really broke the law, or does he simply arrest you and let the courts hash it out? Does your tax preparer negotiate with the IRS or is he supposed to just calculate your tax bill on their terms and have you pay the required amount?

Government does not work by negotiation. Government does not work from the bottom up. It works from the top down. This singular fact means that no doctor will be deciding if you are too old or infirm to get medical care. It will be a medically untrained bureaucrat that sets a national rule that everyone will have to obey. There won’t be any room for your grandma to have a different outcome than anyone else’s.

So, what will it be then? Who will decide when medical care is just too expensive to bother with? Who will be left to perish because they just aren’t worth the lifesaving effort? Well, for sure it won’t be any members of Congress or anyone that works for the federal government because they won’t be expected to suffer under the nationally socialized plan. It also won’t be Obama’s buddies in the unions who are about to be similarly exempted from the national plan, at least if Senator Max Baucus has his way.

Ah, but we are told that Obama’s ideas on healthcare are “evolving,” dontcha know? During the recent campaign for president (that was only 7 months ago, if you’ll recall) Obama insisted that he would never tax your healthcare benefits from work. He even ridiculed McCain for proposing such a plan. Lately, however, he’s “evolved” toward saying that such a new tax is on the table. What about his stance against fining people and businesses that don’t join his UberPlan? He was against that sort of coerciveness before. Now he’s “evolved.”

Originally, he said it was “healthcare for all,” but as of Wednesday night, it seems he’s “evolved” to say that only those worth the bother should get healthcare. The rest should be left to died and/or suffer. If he does any more “evolving” we’ll all be finding just who is “worth” what as far as he and his Democrats are concerned. Somehow I’d guess that many of you reading this today won’t quite be worth as much as certain others!

Let’s hope none of us are ever in a position to find out if Obamacare deems our grandmothers worth saving.

And what ever happened to the left’s mantra that healthcare is a “right” and that money should never enter into a life or death decision? Now The One is saying it’s just too darn expensive to save the old and infirm? Will our friends on the left now disown Obama the “murderer”?

I am an Iranian citizen and I cannot believe my eyes when I see you representing your people and your country wich are supposed to be democratic countries. You are behaving like you are against injustice and you are behaving like you are for democracy and freedom for all. Yet you all have business ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran- Yes you all have it, even the US and Israel who are supposed to not have any business ties with Iran have it through various subsidiaries. It is a shame that you publicly condemn Iran for its actions against humanity, while in the background you are still maintaining the same old ties. You’re just a bunch of hypocrites who just care about your public appearance and nothing else.

Dear Citizens of the Free World

People in Iran are asking you to put pressure on your governments to cut all ties with Iran. Why should your country have ties, with a non democratic country, non democratically elected government and a country that commits genocide on its own people? Your help can break down the vicious regime who has taken my beautiful country as a hostage. Believe me you can make the difference, if you put enough pressure they will react as they only care about their public appearance and nothing else.

CQ Transcript: Senators Lieberman, Graham and McCain Call for Stronger Stance on Iran

[*] LIEBERMAN: Well, good morning. I wanted Senator McCain to start this morning, but he cleverly called a vote, and I was — a lost two to one, so I’m going to start.

Thanks for being here. Over the last two weeks, we have seen how, in the 21st century, technology can empower millions of ordinary people to resist the stranglehold of a repressive regime. Through blogs, text messages and social networking Web sites like Twitter and Facebook, Iranians from all walks of life have been able to use cyberspace to exercise their fund mental rights to free speech and free assembly and to share information among themselves and with the outside world about what has been happening inside their country.

And what has been happening inside their country have been both inspiring, as we’ve watched the yearning desire of the Iranian people for freedom and a better life come forward with courage to speak against the regime and, yet, we’ve ultimately watched the regime brutally repress their own people.

LIEBERMAN: The fact is that, as we acknowledged in our Declaration of Independence, there is, in every human being, a desire for freedom. We say in our declaration that that’s a right that every person has as an endowment from our creator. That yearning desire, that flame burning inside everybody, for now, seems too much in Iran to have been pushed out of the streets by the brutality of the regime, but the flame of freedom, the yearning of the Iranian people for freedom has not been extinguished.

And we as Americans, because of our founding and still-driving ideals of freedom, rule of law, the right of assembly, the right of free speech, have a responsibility to do what we can to stand with those around the world and now, particularly, in Iran, who are asserting their freedom.

That’s why Senator McCain and Senator Graham and I are announcing today our intention to introduce legislation when we return from the recess that will stand with the people of Iran. We’ve seen that the regime has tried to deploy new technologies to restrict its people from getting access to information, prevent its people from exercising their freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, particularly online.

The Iranian government has jammed satellites and radio broadcasts, disrupted cell phone service, monitored Internet use, and blocked particular Web sites. It’s now trying to slam shut the door that a vibrant election had begun to open.

The legislation we intend to introduce is inspired by a clear and simple purpose. We want the Iranian people to be able to stay one step ahead of the Iranian regime, getting access to information and safely exercising freedom of speech and freedom of assembly online.

I know somebody asked don’t we risk discrediting the forces of change and reform — and reform in Iran and risk that the regime will accuse us of meddling. I would ask if we don’t stand up for the fundamental rights of the Iranian people to speak freely, to assemble peacefully, don’t we risk abandoning our own first principles as Americans in undermining the courageous quest of the Iranian people for freedom.

This legislation is not about endorsing one or aiding one particular civil society group versus another in Iran. It’s not about handing out money to groups in Iran. It’s about the fundamental right of all Iranians to get access to the information that they want and to speak with one another. I’m going to yield at this point to Senator McCain to talk in more detail about the package of proposals that we’re introducing. But let me say again how proud I am to stand with my two colleagues across party lines in support of the ideals that have always animated America and that we’ve seen powerfully on display in the streets of Iran from the people of Iran over the last two weeks.

G8 ministers seek firm stance on Iran

G8 foreign ministers headed Thursday into three days of talks in the Adriatic city of Trieste that could yield a firm condemnation from the world powers of Iran’s crackdown.

Tensions have been rising between Iran and the West over the Islamic regime’s suppression of mass street protests sparked by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s contested re-election.

Reaching consensus on Iran was shaping up as a delicate diplomatic exercise with G8 member Russia insisting that the post-election turmoil was an Iranian internal matter.

But Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini voiced confidence that the world powers would stand together in condemning the Islamic regime over violence that has left at least 17 dead, according to state media.

“We will adopt a firm and clear position before the world,” Frattini said as he arrived in Trieste, in northeast Italy.

“Iran is at a turning point. It must now choose whether or not it wants to keep the door open to dialogue with the international community.

“Because the open hand from the United States, that we supported, must not be greeted with a hand covered in blood.”

Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner acknowledged that there was not full agreement on condemning the regime in Iran but said a firmly-worded statement was needed.

“At the G8 tonight, we will try — a text is being examined and not everyone is in favour of condemnation — but we do need in Trieste a firm statement. We will do this,” Kouchner said in Paris before departing.

The Group of Eight — Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States — will kick off the gathering with a working dinner at the Palazzo della Regione in the city overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

    Not Another Missing Governor?

The bad news is that the Washington Post doesn’t know where Virginia governor Tim Kaine is. The good news is they’re pretty sure he’s not in Appalachia or Argentina:

But repeated attempts to review Kaine’s schedule — in Richmond, around the state or across the country — before and after he became DNC chairman in late January have been unsuccessful. The Washington Post has requested Kaine’s calendar through the governor’s office, the DNC and his political action committee, Moving Virginia Forward. The requests have been denied or gone unanswered.

Kaine’s office cites security and privacy concerns, as well as state law, court rulings and precedent, in declining to release a full schedule of his travels and activities. Requests for travel records and the cost of his security detail were also denied.

Contemplating a second governor whose whereabouts are unclear, I’m reminded of the line at the end of The Hunt for Red October: “Andrei, have you lost another submarine?”

UPDATE: Baucus: Health-Care Bill Cost May Fall Below $1Tln (Deficit Neutral?)

According to a Baucus aide, plans currently under consideration by the committee would cover 97% of Americans.

Finance Committee Democrats have been negotiating with several Republicans – including Sens. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah – on a bill that could be voted on in committee in July. Baucus signaled Thursday it remains unclear when details of any agreement will be released.

Baucus added that committee members had come to a preliminary agreement on one of its most controversial policy options: allowing for the taxation of health benefits that exceed a certain value. Under the current system, health benefits are completely excluded from taxation.

“The concept is basically agreed to, but there’s nervousness on this and so we’re trying to work out variations,” Baucus said.

Taxing health benefits over a specified cap would raise close to $300 billion. That is one of two main new revenue sources that would offset the cost of the $1 trillion package, said Snowe.

The other is a tax on employers who don’t provide affordable health insurance for their employees. Such employers would be required to pay as much as 50% of Medicaid costs, or as much as 100% of the federal subsidy if those employees bought coverage through a new public exchange.

The plan has been dubbed the “free rider” proposal, because it aims to ensure that employers don’t become free riders by abandoning their coverage and sending employees into federally-subsidized programs.

Snowe said employers with less than 50 employees would not have to pay the fee. Baucus said new revenues to pay for the plan will be “essentially within” the area of health care. Senators have also discussed a variation on President Obama’s proposal to reduce the value of itemized deductions for wealthier Americans.

Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said the costs of the $1 trillion package could be paid for without including the Obama proposal on itemized deductions.

He said that negotiators have trimmed the cost of the package to less than $1 trillion “largely” by reducing the subsidies that would be available to low and middle-income taxpayers to purchase health-care.

One way to reduce the costs is to lower the income level at which subsidies become available. Senate Finance members have discussed making the subsidies available on a sliding scale to anyone up to 300% of the federal poverty level.

“You do not need to go below 300% to get to a trillion dollars,” Conrad told reporters.

Republican members of the panel suggested that talk of an agreement on the health-care legislation is premature, however.

“We haven’t made a deal,” said Snowe.

Sen. Hatch questioned whether CBO’s cost estimates – or “scoring” – were accurate, since the committee hasn’t yet written draft legislation.

“We haven’t seen any language, and I don’t think they have language,” Hatch said. “They’ve got concepts. Now, how do you score on concepts?”

I’ve written quite a bit about the co-op option recently because it seems like a viable bipartisan solution.

Now it looks like the White House is signaling that they’re willing to forgo a government run, public plan and accept alternatives (like co-ops) to garner Republican support.

This would be a quite a slap in the face to Congressional Dems, but I think the White House has to rein the health care debate back in because Pelosi has been managing it so poorly.

Cooperative Health Care: The Way Forward?

    A People-Centered, Value-Enhancing Health System

As President Lincoln emphasized in his Gettysburg Address, the U.S. is guided by the philosophy of “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

What is needed in health care is a similar philosophy: a health system that is truly for the people.

Redesigning health care so that it puts people front and center and ensures that care is patient-centered, accessible, and coordinated should be the fundamental goals of health reform.

Ultimately, it is the public that pays for health care, whether through the direct costs of premiums and health services, forgone wages from rising premiums in employer-sponsored health plans, or higher taxes to support Medicare, Medicaid, and other public health programs.

Health reform needs to ensure accountability and value for the resources that are entrusted to health care organizations and providers for the care of patients.

Two choices have been put on the table —

a cooperative health care system designed and governed by consumers, and

a public health insurance plan designed and offered by government acting in the public interest. (Liberal Translation – government-run healthcare)

(Option One Please! – Or let’s go back to Snowe’s fallback “trigger” option.)

‘Cap and Trade Doesn’t Work’ [Guy Benson]

Thus reads the headline of an important piece in today’s Wall Street Journal Europe. Martin Livermore of the Scientific Alliance cautions the US to learn from Europe’s mistakes:

To get a good idea [of how Cap and Trade may turn out], U.S. policy makers need only look across the Atlantic. The European Union, keen to show global leadership, introduced the world’s first Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in January 2005, just before the Kyoto protocol came into force. The principle of this and similar schemes — including the proposed U.S. cap and trade regime — is that certain sectors of industry are allocated permits to emit fixed amounts of carbon dioxide, held to be the primary driver of climate change. If they manage to reduce emissions more than planned, companies can sell their excess permits; if they need more, they have to buy them.

Advocates of the system like it because “the polluter pays.” Setting aside for the moment the question of whether it is justifiable to call carbon dioxide a pollutant, companies of course do not simply absorb these extra costs. Instead, they pass them on to their customers who are also, by and large, taxpayers. Not only does the taxpayer carry the cost of any cap and trade scheme, but their money also provides profit for a whole new industry: the new carbon trading sector, the middlemen who make the system work.

Conservatives have done a pretty good job of getting the message out that this legislation would wreak havoc on businesses’ bottom lines, forcing companies to pass down increased costs to consumers. These cost-of-living hikes would, in turn, hammer family budgets to the tune of $1,600 to $3,900 annually, per household. (Yes, that means all households, not just Obama’s magic top 5 percent).

That financial punch aside, one of the least-discussed problems with a government-imposed cap-and-trade regime is the inevitable avalanche of graft and corruption that would consume the bureaucratic process. When the government is doling out permits and contrived “pollution allowances,” with huge sums of money on the line for all parties involved, it’s nearly inconceivable that estimation mechanisms could avoid turning very political.

The House is scheduled to vote on the Waxman/Markey bill tomorrow. Before America embraces yet another expensive government power-grab, it’s imperative that we examine this administration’s track record so far, as well as the crippling inefficiencies of other current big-government spending programs. To this end, there are a few things that ought to be making more headlines:

    (1) Joe Biden, charged with overseeing $789 billion in stimulus spending, recently admitted the process was prone to waste, and that “some people are being scammed already.” Oh, and the “transparency” website ostensibly designed to track stimulus spending won’t be complete for years.

    (2) Both the president and vice president, confronted with irrefutable evidence of their stimulus plan’s epic failure on job creation, have begun reciting a talking point that blames “everyone” for incorrectly assessing the severity of the downturn. When will we start hearing that we were “all” also wrong about Government Motors, government healthcare, cap-and-trade, etc?

    (3) As of April, the feds had already opened 20 criminal investigations into dealings related to the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). That could be the tip of an iceberg of abuse.

    (4) Current long-term government entitlement programs are hurdling towards insolvency, with another whopper potentially on the way. Supporters of Waxman/Markey would argue this bill would help generate revenue to pay for the various spending programs, but the damage it could do to the economy as a whole could negate any or all of the intended revenue gains—and then some.

    (5) Powerful lawmakers have a long history of making sure that they themselves, friends, donors, and allies make out like bandits, regardless of the latest law passed or regulation enacted. (It’s not hard to imagine corporations aligned closely with well-placed politicians managing to escape costly carbon emissions estimates).

    (6) “Gangster government” has a nasty penchant for bullying, punishing, and intimidating its critics. (It’s similarly easy to envision companies deemed politically problematic being smacked with oppressive estimates).

But at least our representatives are thoroughly reading the potentially-devastating bill they’re considering, right?

    Not so much:

    From nro:

Obama Pinch Hits for Gore [Iain Murray]

With Al Gore no longer coming to Washington to rally support for Speaker Pelosi’s cap-and-tax bill, it was up to one of his support acts in the green industrial lobby, Barack Obama, to try to persuade reluctant Democrats to back the bill. Speaking at the White House just now, he said that this was a “jobs bill” that would cost the same as a “postage stamp a day.” Now, by my reckoning that means that he has secret plans to put the price of First Class Mail up to $3.40, because according to the best analysis out there, the bill will cost the average family $1241 a year. Moreover, high prices are what the president said he wanted (video evidence here).

As for jobs, look at that Heritage link and particularly Chart I. You’ll see that the effect in 2012 is almost 2,000,000 jobs lost. Over a million more are lost in each of 2013 and 2014, before the “green jobs” — those low-paying, temporary construction jobs the greenies rave about — come online. They never quite stop the effect being negative and then, once the brave new economy is in place, they go away and the job losses mount almost exponentially as industry relocates to China and India, who would never be so mind-bogglingly stupid as to impose such limits on themselves.

If you want more on this, there’s my article in the Washington Times today and this wonderful Top Ten list from the House Republicans:

    1. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Impose a National Energy Tax on Every Single American.

    2. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Cost American Jobs, Shipping Them Overseas to China & India.

    3. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Cause Electricity Bills to “Skyrocket.”

    4. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Hurt Family Farmers & Rural America

    5. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Not Improve the Environment

    6. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Cause Gasoline and Diesel Prices to Spike Further.

    7. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Be A Bureaucratic Nightmare.

    8. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Send Billions of US Taxpayer Dollars Overseas.

    9. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Raise Food Prices.

    10. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax Will Set the Stage for Another Market Meltdown.

You can add to that 11. Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax will cause a trade war with China and India.

As for the vote count on this bill, as the president said, it is on a knife edge. There are signs that some centrist Democrats are being persuaded by their constituents to resist the pressure from Speaker Pelosi and President Obama. Phil Kerpen of Americans for Prosperity is sending out regular updates on Twitter, and if you follow him you can get a list of those Democrats that need pressure. There are also rumors that some Republicans are saying they need to vote in favor or their re-election will be in jeopardy. This is, of course, dangerous twaddle, and you can remind your representative that you will remember how he or she votes by taking action as I suggested here.

    Remember: It’s a tax!

This exchange was not good for Team Obama:

Dr. Orrin Devinsky, a neurologist and researcher at the New York University Langone Medical Center, said that elites often propose health care solutions that limit options for the general public, secure in the knowledge that if they or their loves ones get sick, they will be able to afford the best care available, even if it’s not provided by insurance.

Devinsky asked the president pointedly if he would be willing to promise that he wouldn’t seek such extraordinary help for his wife or daughters if they became sick and the public plan he’s proposing limited the tests or treatment they can get.

The president refused to make such a pledge, though he allowed that if “it’s my family member, if it’s my wife, if it’s my children, if it’s my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care.

“There’s a whole bunch of care that’s being provided that every study, that every bit of evidence that we have indicates may not be making us healthier,” he said.

Gibson interjected that often patients don’t know what will work until they get every test they can.

(This raises a nasty populist element to the whole debate. Expect a closer focus on the health plan of Congress.)

  149. rosettasister Says:

I sat through most of the Ben Bernanke/BofA hearing before having to duck out to do some CNBC. But these are my takeaways

    1) It sure would be great to have a transcript of the conversation between Richmond Fed President Jeffrey Lacker and Bernanke that led Lacker having a chat with BofA’s Ken Lewis that then led Lewis to claim he was being threatened.

    2) Without #1, there is no smoking gun. Rep. Issa overreached when he said there was a coverup.

    3) Some Dems, particularly Elijah Cummings, indicated frustration with Bernanke’s narrow, legalistic answers. Bernanke to Lewis was like asking your mechanic if you need new brakes and he says, “I wouldn’t drive the car with these brakes, but that’s me. It’s up to you.” Lewis read between the lines. Bernanke said he should not have, that the Fed was merely outlining the market reaction to BofA trying to scuttle the deal with Merrill.

    4) A three-hour grilling where the GOpers basically accused Bernanke of lying and perjury. And then at the end, a question about M2 and monetary policy. Still think having the Fed as a super-regulator is a good idea?

  150. rosettasister Says:

    Obama’s stimulus trap

Some two-thirds of the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was planned to be spent after 2009, so immediate “stimulus” was never really the primary intent of the package. If it had been, the plan would have been front-loaded (massive payroll tax cuts being one possible mechanism) to boost the economy at the nadir of the recession.

As it is, the economy will likely be growing (hopefully) when the bulk of the money hits, though unemployment may still be rising or stuck at a high level.

No, the main goal of the ARRA was to make a downpayment on the Obama healthcare, energy and education agenda, leaving it mostly to monetary policy to bolster the economy in 2009.

Not surprisingly, Obama didn’t highlight the uncomfortable reality that this economic bug was really an intended feature. And most Americans surely don’t realize the political and economic subtleties at play, and so to them the “stimulus” plan doesn’t seem to be very stimulative. Of course, it was not intended to be.

Indeed, a Rasmussen poll earlier this month found that by a 45-to-36 percent margin, Americans think the rest of the stimulus plan should be canceled.

(And, of course, quickie stimulus programs programs have a poor track record. Back in 2008, only a third of the $100 billion Bush stimulus was spent by consumers, according to the Economic Policy Institute. Economist Martin Feldstein estimates that only 15 percent was spent.)

Is it any wonder, then, that if a growing number of Americans think the president’s major economic achievement should be dumped, that a growing number also disapprove of his handling of the economy?

First, the military is stepping up to the plate and supporting the efforts of the Citizen Grand Juries by putting our Presentments into the hands of our soldiers who are being railroaded into Fort Levinworth via the illegal Court Marshal. They will be using the presentments (Which include Lt. Commander Fitzpatrick’s criminal complaint accusing BHO of Treason) and asking “by what authority am I being tried?” Since all Court Marshal’s come down from the President, he (BHO) will have to prove he is a legal POTUS, duly empowered by virtue of his qualifications under the Second Amendment. This he cannot do! It is currently in play in at least one such case (cannot reveal the soldiers name at this time but will when allowed too) Checkmate.
