Seven islands to the high side of the bay, ‘cross the bay
To the sunset through the blue light of a fiery autumn haze
We went walking on the high side of the bay on a chilly morn
And we saw how leaves had fallen on the beds where trees were born
Any man in his right mind could not fail to be made aware
Any woman with a gift of wisdom would not seek her answers there
Seven islands to the high side of the bay if you’re looking west
To the sunset you can see it, all in fiery autumn dress
Anytime would be the right time to come up to your bed of boughs
Anybody with a wish to wander could not fail but to be aroused

Living high in the city, guess you think it’s a pretty good way
You get to learn but when you get burned you got nothing to say
You seem to think because you got chicken to go you’re in luck
Fortune will not find you in your mansion or your truck
Brothers will desert you when you’re down and shit out of luck

Look around at the morning, guess you’re doing the best you can
Surely you know that when you go nobody gives you a hand
Think of the air you’re breathing in, think of the time you waste
Think of the right and wrong and consider the frown on your face

It’s time you tried living on the high side of the bay, you need a rest
Any woman or a man with a wish to fade away could be so blessed
Fortune will not find you in your mansion turned to gold
Brothers will desert you when your nights turn long and cold

If you feel it you better believe it, you’re gonna see it, so you really know
It is rising like a feather, dipping and dancing from below
There’s a new wave that is breaking in the wake of a passing ship
Every nation’s gonna be shaken, put it together, don’t let it slip

It’s time you tried living on the high side of the bay, you need a rest
Any man or a woman with a wish to fade away could be so blessed

Seven islands to the high side of the bay, ‘cross the bay
To the sunset through the blue light of a fiery autumn haze
To the sunset through the blue light of a fiery autumn haze

    Gordon Lightfoot: Edmund Fitzgerald

  2. Troy Says:

Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald lyrics

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called ‘Gitche Gumee’
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty.
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early.
The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship’s bell rang
Could it be the north wind they’d been feelin’?

The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too,
T’was the witch of November come stealin’.
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the Gales of November came slashin’.
When afternoon came it was freezin’ rain
In the face of a hurricane west wind.

When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin’.
Fellas, it’s too rough to feed ya.
At Seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in, he said
Fellas, it’s been good t’know ya
The captain wired in he had water comin’ in
And the good ship and crew was in peril.
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searches all say they’d have made Whitefish Bay
If they’d put fifteen more miles behind her.
    They might have split up or they might have capsized;
May have broke deep and took water.
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters.

    Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion.
    Old Michigan steams like a young man’s dreams;
The islands and bays are for sportsmen.
    And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her,
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the Gales of November remembered.

In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
    In the Maritime Sailors’ Cathedral.
The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call ‘Gitche Gumee’.
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early!

On this Memorial Day, I wanted to share this incredible, inspiring story.

The Lord truly does work in mysterious ways!

Jacob Daniel DeShazer, 6584514, Staff Sergeant

    Bombardier Crew 16

    http://www.doolittleraider.com/raiders/deshazer.htm

“I begged my captors to get me a Bible, and when the emperor of Japan told them to treat us better, I got one.”

    Jacob DeShazer

    Doolittle Raider, POW

The sentence that changed DeShazer’s world was “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

During three decades as missionaries, the couple helped start 16 churches in cities throughout Japan.

One of those converted to Christianity by DeShazer’s testimony was Mitsuo Fuchida, the former Japanese pilot who led the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. After reading a tract that DeShazer had written, called “I Was a Prisoner of Japan,” Fuchida began to study the Bible. He became a Christian and spent the rest of his life as a missionary.

Bonded by their experiences, DeShazer and Fuchida met and became friends.

“I saw him just before he died,” DeShazer said in 2001, recalling their last meeting. “We shared in that good, wonderful thing that Christ has done.”

Health-care battle opens — The Public Option “Trigger”

(The Daily Kooks are against this because they know the trigger will never be pulled.)

    http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/news/local/1194330915.html

Gentzel, the Snowe spokesman, said Snowe believes a national public health insurance option should be used as a “last resort” if other reforms in the private market fail.

“It is clear that current insurance markets are not working properly,” Snowe said in a written statement.

“The solution lies in reforming and regulating markets to produce greater competition and lower costs, and ensure consumers are protected.”

Kevin Kelley, spokesman for Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, said Collins is committed to a few key priorities, including accessibility, price, quality and freedom of choice for consumers.

“She believes the goal should be universal health-care coverage, and she wants to see what the Senate Finance Committee proposes,” Kelley said.

The Daily Kooks Admit Expanded Medicare “could” grow into single-payer.

The Public Option is Dead, Long Live Expanded Medicare

    http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/5/22/729887/-The-Public-Option-is-Dead,-Long-Live-Expanded-Medicare

There’s confusion over the terminology of health care as interest groups jockey for name turf.

The term “public option” is being used by several camps to describe uh, what exactly.

One plan, such as Senator Schumer’s, is one in which you pay premiums and doctors in one don’t belong in the other, and the plan has no public funding, as Medicare does.

Yet Schumer calls his a public option.

Senator Max Baucus, along with his corporate bedfellows, likes Schumer’s plan.

We need to reframe the debate.

What is needed is a name for a humane, affordable health care plan on the Medicare model that cannot be co-opted by the opposition.

(No, this is exactly what we don’t need!)

Even better, what about the name used by the sponsors of HR676 in 2005?

That plan is called Expanded Medicare.

    ***

The original plan was single payer. This one isn’t in the beginning but it could grow.

    ***

    (Those sneaky Kooks!)

  22. rosettasister Says:

    ONLY IF

The debate, though, centers on exactly how to construct a public plan.

Some members of the Finance Committee have been giving consideration to a “fallback” plan, which would trigger a public insurance option ONLY IF private competition proves inadequate in a geographic region.

(This never happened with President Bush’s prescription coverage for the elderly. And this is a much bigger market.)

    U.S. debt worries rising

Markets concerned about federal borrowing as rates increase

First published: Sunday, May 24, 2009

Japan has lost, and Britain may lose, its triple A credit rating. California is in junk bond territory. Could the United States be next?

“We are heading toward very high debt-to-GDP ratios very soon,” said UC Berkeley economist Alan Auerbach. He said the rise in perceived risk of the federal government going bankrupt is “sobering.”

As it is, the United States does not even meet the standards for admission to the European Union, because its deficit and debt levels are too high, said Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee.

The federal government faces either enormous tax increases or inflation, to remedy the problem, he said.

“That means people, instead of having money to buy a home, have to send it to the government to pay the interest on the debt,” Gregg said in an interview.

“There are no ways around this. This is not academic. It’s not theoretical. It’s real. The numbers are there.”

The appetite for U.S. debt has remained robust, and U.S. Treasuries were viewed as a safe haven amid the financial turmoil last fall.

Budget analysts have been warning about the sorry condition of U.S. finances for years, and nothing happened.

But the United Kingdom credit warning has turned many eyes suddenly to the United States.

“Nothing happens until it does,” said Auerbach. “People were warning about the housing market and the bubble and nobody seemed to worry about that, and now a lot of us are sorry.”

  25. rosettasister Says:

More from UC Berkeley economist Alan Auerbach

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/05/23/MN2B17PDPL.DTL

“Nothing happens until it does,” said Auerbach. “People were warning about the housing market and the bubble and nobody seemed to worry about that, and now a lot of us are sorry.

The United States can go on for several more years doing absolutely nothing responsible to get the debt under control and things may be fine, but at some point, and it’s impossible to predict when, people can lose confidence in the U.S. government’s ability to deal with its problem, and things can unravel.

Whether that happens in five years or 10 or even longer, it’s impossible to say.”

The idea that something very bad will happen is now a consensus view among budget experts.

Talking to US Senators Patrick Leahy, Mark Warner and Sheldon Whitehouse at PM House, the Prime Minister said though Pakistan was fighting its own war against terrorism, the world would be the ultimate beneficiary of its success.

The Prime Minister said democratic Pakistan desires good relations with all its neighbours. He underlined the need to resolve all outstanding issues including the core issues of Kashmir with India in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people for a durable peace in the region.

The US Senators agreed with the Prime Minister that the US has to play its role in resolution of this long festering dispute to enable Pakistan to focus its attention on combating terrorism.

Emphasizing the importance of Pakistan’s political and economic stability, the Senators stated that the US Government will continue extending all possible assistance to Pakistan for achieving its objectives.

They apprised the Prime Minister that part of the due Coalition Support Funds will be released to Pakistan by the US this week and the disbursement of pledged amount as assistance for displaced people will be fast-tracked.

They also assured the Prime Minister their cooperation in the early passage of pending legislations for helping Pakistan.

Federal Minister for Defence Ahmad Mukhtar and US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson were also present in the meeting.

The Crucial Need For Focus – “An unprincipled effort to bleed Judge Sotomayer”

    http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/blog/g/3081fa2d-d702-43e8-8b80-1c1fb8966985

The summer should be opening with an annual slow-down in D.C., but instead the already rushed pace of events is accelerating with

the nomination of Judge Sotomayer to SCOTUS,

the North Korean nuclear and missile tests,

    the continuing debate over Gitmo,

the end game for the old GM and of course

the rush to radically rewrite the rules of American medicine.

So many major debates are underway or about to open that conservatives have to very carefully manage their efforts so as not to get rolled in every single instance.

On health care, “history and good sense contradict the president,” writes Philip Klein in today’s Politico, and Klein is of course right.

“People who receive subsidies for any good or service consume more, driving up costs. This has proved true for health care wherever government has expanded coverage.”

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22934.html

Voters know we cannot afford to hemorrhage trillions more on single-payer, Canadian-style health care which would lower the quality of care even as it contributes to the bankruptcy of the country.

Conservatives have the high ground here and need only to begin and sustain the debate as soon as possible.

All of which is a long way of saying that the GOP’s priorities should be national security –Gitmo and missile defense– and the health care debate,

NOT an unprincipled effort to bleed Judge Sotomayer.

Her hearings will provide an excellent opportunity for Republican members of the Judiciary Committee to remind the public of the principles of originalism and of the limited nature of the judicial power,

but voices on the right already calling for an all-out effort to mobilize opposition to the nominee without even a week of reading or a day of hearings

are diverting crucial attention from debates which are clear, urgent, and already upon us.

    (Amen, brother!)

Focus on Maine in battle over health care

Olympia Snowe’s position on a key Senate panel leads advocates of national health insurance to campaign here.

    May 25, 2009

    http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=258391&ac=PHbiz

Maine lies in the cross hairs of the reform debate largely because of Republican U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe’s position on the Senate Finance Committee. That panel will be handling health care bills because of its jurisdiction over federal entitlement programs.

Last Wednesday’s press conference was one of several coordinated by Health Care for America Now, a national coalition. Its members include more than 1,000 groups representing health care providers and advocates, social justice issues, labor unions and others.

The press conference came one week after another group, Healthy Economy Now, launched a $500,000 television advertising campaign. The 30-second spots aired in Maine and six other states with senators who are seen as moderates on reform.

The ad claims that reducing health care costs would save 3.5 million jobs. “Fix health care,” the ad’s narrator says. “It’s a big part of fixing the economy.”

Sponsors of the campaign include several health care industry groups, unions and other organizations that recently proposed a voluntary $2.3 trillion reduction in health care costs.

Here is the ad targeting both Snowe and Collins:

  59. rosettasister Says:

    Sounds reasonable, no?!

This is pure propaganda and a false choice.

The ad suggests that the only alternative to a “public” option is the status quo.

Snowe is in fact saying, yes, let’s do this thing, but let’s do it the American way, utilizing the private sector and the laws of supply and demand.

This would be similar to the Swiss way.

The “public” option would only kick in after a period of time and only if that became a necessity.

And the people who made this ad know that will never happen.

They’re trying to sound reasonable by saying “public” option now — knowing full well that will lead to single-payer.

And, ultimately, that’s what they want.

They know the American public will never go for single-payer, so they’re trying to sneak it in through the back door.

Know Your Enemy — Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud

Army attacks militants in South Waziristan, six killed

Pakistani helicopter gunships attacked Taliban positions in the South Waziristan region on the Afghan border on Tuesday, killing six militants, intelligence officials and residents said.

    http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/news/pakistan/04-army-attack-militants-south-waziristan-qs-05

The attack came as the army pressed on with an offensive against the Taliban in their Swat valley bastion, about 350 km to the northeast of South Waziristan, in its most concerted attempt to push back an expanding insurgency.

Speculation has been mounting that the army would soon turn its attention to South Waziristan, the headquarters of Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud and a major base area for his Afghan Taliban allies.

The army sent in its helicopters shortly after militants fired rockets at a paramilitary force base in Siblatoi town, 60 km east of Waziristan’s main town of Wana.

‘The helicopter gunships are still attacking and so far six militants have been killed and 14 wounded,’ said an intelligence agency official in the area said, adding that ground troops had secured the nearby village of Chakmali.

South Waziristan has been a militant hub for years.

Many Taliban and al Qaeda fighters fled there, and to neighbouring North Waziristan, after US forces and their Afghan allies drove the Taliban from power in Afghanistan.

The United States, which is pouring thousands of extra troops into Afghanistan this year, has been attacking militants in both South and North Waziristan with missile-firing drone aircraft.

DPO Mianwali Akbar Nasir has said that Abdullah Ghazi was planning for abduction of the Chinese engineers working at Chashma Nuclear Power Project and Jinnah Hydropower Project with other five conspirators. Police arrested Abdullah and Saleem while their other accomplice fled from the scene.

“Heavy weapons were also received from the arrested terrorists,” DPO said.

The arrested men were also involved in attack on Qudratabad police checkpost between Mianwali and Khoshab in which eight policemen were killed, police sources said.

Yeah – how many times have they gone back on their ‘promises’?

The media and many commentators would always blame the GoP and Army for the failure of the past peace deals, since there was always this impression that the Taliban were sincere and we were not.

Well that perception has been blown to smithereens with the Nizam-e-Adl Regulations and the invasion of Buner, so how can anyone guarantee that we won’t see a repeat of the past and the Taliban once again regrouping and attacking the state?

Kill off the leadership and commanders, arrest and prosectute whoever surrenders (rehabilitaion programs can be initiated for some who reform while in prisons depending upon individual cases). We are not dealing with over 2 million displaced just so we can strike peace deals with the same characters that have backstabbed us time and again.

They probably believe that the time for anything to have come of this issue was before the election last November.

And that for this to come out now would prove too disruptive.

About all we can do now is to make sure this never happens again and fight Obama on the issues.

“He can’t even be prosecuted for the fraudulent COLB because he did not forge it, never personally acknowledged it or disavowed it, and he can not be forced to. All he has to do is remain silent and obedient.”

(Polarik does have a sense of humor!)

His campaign stated, for the record, that it was Obama, himself, who had obtained the COLB they posted on the Web.

In response to Berg’s latest lawsuit, Obama’s own lawyers stated, for the record, that Obama had sent a copy of his 2007 COLB to Factcheck for validation, AS WELL AS, allowing Facthceck to come by his campaign headquarters to photograph it.

Hawaii’s Health Department also stated, for the record, via its Department Director and Communications Officer, that the State would not have issued Obama’s COLB without his personal authorization to do so.

Additionally, the Communications Director also stated, for the record, that Obama’s Campaign had requested the COLB in June 2008.

    But, Obama’s COLB has a date-stamp of June 2007.

I’d love to see how ZERO would avoid being linked if a formal investigation was launched into the origin of his COLB.

We need to keep people focused on the forgery instead of minimizing its importance.

If you look at the history of all of the attempts made to divert attention away from the forged COLB, you’ll see a very strange progression.

    The first excuse was that

“a US Senator would never risk his career and chances to become President by forging his birth certificte,” to

“If this was a forgery then Hillary Clinton would have said something about it,” to

“We emailed our image copy to Janice Okubo who said that “It looks just like my birth certificate,” to

Factcheck saying that “Our experts could find no evidence of forgery,” to

other “experts” saying the same thing, to

other factchecking sites saying, “It looks real to me,” to

“a real graphics expert” saying that “Polarik is just, plain wrong,” to

“Forget about the birth certificate and concentrate on the real issues, to

“Forget about the birth certificate – Obama’s a dual citizen,” to

“the Ceritification of Live Birth does not have the same info as the long-form,” to

“the Ceritification of Live Birth was given out to foreign-born children,” and finally,

“Let’s see that ‘Vault’ birth certificate! (but I don’t remember why).”

My next move is to contact Adam Lambert and ask him to sing, “Is Anybody Listening” at Obama’s next Press Conference while holding up a WANTED poster with a picture of the COLB.

(I’m glad Polarik has a sense of humor. Now if he would just work on his run-on sentences!)

Congratulations, President Obama, You’ve United the Entire Conservative Movement

    Christian Newswire Bio
    Email Article

By Christian Newswire Wednesday, May 27, 2009
The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, regarding President Obama’s nomination of Appeals Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“The nomination of Sonia Sotomayor unites all wings of the conservative movement–economic, foreign policy, social, traditional, neocon, and libertarian–in a way we haven’t seen since the early Clinton years.

“Judge Sotomayor frightens all conservatives. As the debate over her nomination heats up, conservatives will provide the primary opposition to Sotomayor and will quickly launch a massive educational campaign using direct mail, the Internet, talk radio, cable TV, You Tube, and other forms of new and alternative media.

“It was sad to read that Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele’s comment on the Sotomayor nomination reflected the typical reaction Americans have come to expect from Republican politicians when he said that Republicans will reserve judgment on Sotomayor.

“No wonder conservatives now look to talk show hosts and other unelected conservatives for leadership, rather then wet-finger Republican politicians who always seeming to be waiting to see the direction of the political winds.

“It remains to be seen how active and effective Republican politicians will be on this historic fight, but conservatives are on the field, engaged, and ready to battle President Obama and all U.S. Senators who support Sotomayor.”

NOTE TO EDITORS: Richard A. Viguerie pioneered political direct mail and has been called “one of the creators of the modern conservative movement” (The Nation magazine) and one of the “conservatives of the century” (The Washington Times).

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but a senior investigator told AFP the attack was the likely handiwork of Al-Qaeda linked Taliban militants operating from Pakistan’s wild Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan.

Lahore has been increasingly rocked by violent attacks.

On March 30, attackers armed with guns, grenades and suicide vests stormed a police training centre on the outskirts of the city, unleashing eight hours of gun battles and killing seven police cadets and a civilian.

That attack was claimed by Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud — a man with a five-million-dollar bounty on his head offered by the United States — who threatened to carry out further attacks across the country.

On March 3, gunmen ambushed the Sri Lankan cricket team bus in Lahore, killing eight Pakistanis and ending hopes of the country hosting international sport in the immediate future.

Bragdon said there clearly are problems with the current system but there is no reason to think private insurers and other industry groups shouldn’t be “key players” in the solution.

In an e-mailed statement on Tuesday, Snowe, who serves with Baucus on the Senate Finance Committee, said reform of health insurance regulations is “a prerequisite to achieve sustainable, universal coverage and my colleagues and I … are engaged in doing that.”

She said she supports the idea of a strictly public plan as “a last-resort, fallback option” if insurance reforms do not result in “realistic choices among affordable plans.”

In an e-mail, Collins also pointed to the need for reform of the insurance industry and voiced concern about a projected “collapse of the private insurance market if a Washington-run public plan were to be established.”

She said she wants to ensure that families are able to keep private insurance coverage if they choose to.

The left knows at least two things, they know Americans won’t settle for the status quo.

And they know Americans love choice.

They know single-payer is off the table so they are trying to sneak it in through the back door.

    How will they accomplish this?

By pulling at our heart strings and repeating the mantra that Americans deserve a choice. Now, not later.

What you need to be asking yourself, right now, is why is the left putting up such a big stink about what Snowe and others are trying to do?

They knew single-payer wasn’t going anywhere and so they came up with “public” option. Then serious players pointed out that “public” option would lead to single-payer.

They know this and they are trying their darnedest to keep Americans from knowing this.

“Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) last week held a private meeting to discuss a compromise on health care reform legislation that would include a “fallback public plan,” implemented in several years if private insurers do not take steps to make coverage more affordable and accessible, CongressDaily reports. The plan is modeled on the Medicare prescription drug benefit, under which the government can offer prescription drug benefits if private insurers choose not to do so. The government currently does not offer a Medicare Part D directly plan because a sufficient number of private firms have done so.”

    ***

This last part is what scares them the most as they know this fallback trigger will never be pulled, just like it never was with Bush’s prescription coverage of the elderly.

Private insurers jumped at the opportunity as they wanted a piece of the pie. This is a much bigger pie.

The left is counting on the right to remain ignorant about these things and just come across as mean-spirited.

There’s a much simpler and cheaper way to fix health care. Taxpayer health savings accounts. There’s a much simpler and cheaper way to fix health care. Taxpayer health savings accounts.

    ***

What politician is advancing this right now?

And is it just a part of a much larger package?

And does it have a snowball’s chance in hell of passing?

Me says, no one’s advocating it, that’s the problem. But Bush initiated it during his first term. The point is NOT that it does or does not have a chance of passing. The Point is that Conservative R’s need to offer a workable CONSERVATIVE alternative that addresses the issues.

Yes, I read the Swiss info…. sounds all hunky dory, but again, I don’t trust the current batch of Congress critters to pass ANYTHING that doesn’t stick a knife in our backs while at the same time lining their pockets (save for a select few).

  104. rosettasister Says:

Well, NEC, I can understand why you wouldn’t want to place your trust in Olympia Snowe right now.

But I fear the alternative is “public” option now, and that would be a disaster and would fundamentally change this country forever.

There would be no turning back.

People, in general, including the American people, are way too malleable and would get quite comfortable with the nanny state rather quickly.

And then this great nation wouldn’t really be America any longer, would it?

And the rest of the world wouldn’t be able to count on us, either.

BTW, Snowe isn’t the only one supporting the fallback option trigger.

There are other moderate Repubs and Dems alike.

I still maintain a “Gang of 14” will decide this thing.

We may not like it, but we’re going to need Snowe and Collins and Specter and Ben Nelson and others to keep Obama and Pelosi and Reid from having their way with us.

5pm Pacific, I will be on with Laurie Roth to discuss the Obama birth certificate controversy. Pursuant to the law in Hawaii, certain people have a right to obtain the birth certificate.

Those listed as entitled to obtain a copy of an original birth certificate include the person born, or “registrant” according to the legal description from the governor’s office, the spouse or parent of the registrant, a descendant of the registrant, a person having a common ancestor with the registrant, a legal guardian of the registrant, or a person or agency acting on behalf of the registrant.”

    Ron Polarik on Linda Starr

    Polarik said…

So much for all of the “Anomymous” comments.

I am going on record here as saying that Lisa Liberi — the real one, not one of the 14 aliases that Lisa Courville Richardson (the REAL criminal) used — has been smeared by a person who worked for Phil and Lisa.

Her alias was Linda Starr and under her real name she has a rap sheet a block long.

Let me say that I would trust my life in Lisa’s hands, and I don’t trust that many people anyway. I have Lisa’s actual background check and it’s squeaky clean.

Orly chose to believe the lies about Lisa and to spread them, and when I told her that I stand by Lisa, she turned her back on me. Can’t say that I didn’t warn her.

If someone wrongly accuses you of being a criminal and refuses voluntarily to retract that statement, there is no other recourse but to take legal action.

This is not some silly, jealous spat — this is character assassination, about destroying someone’s livelihood, as well as their life.

Think about that before you easily dismiss this matter.

Neither Lisa nor Berg did anything to deserve this.

Thank you, John. {{{HUGS}}} Your support and that of others from the old blog means so much to me. I can never tell you how much.

    I brought this to Phil.

My reward for the 10+ years of friendship, and many months of support and endless hours on the blog defending him and his professional past for filing this suit has been NUMEROUS false, maliciously libelous accusations made against me.

I have also been falsely accused in thed pleadings of using numerous aliases.

On blogs, people are posting outright lies that I am an alcoholic and drug addicted and other things. None of that is true.

Phil, Lisa and Momma E opened the door to the destruction of my good name by spreading and widespread dissemination of malicously libelous allegations against me.

Make no mistake John, I can absolutely prove that every single thing said about Lisa’s past can be substantiated by official police and court documents which we have obtained, as well as sworn affidavits in court documents made by Lisa Rene Richardson Courville Liberi herself.

We can, and definitely will, publish this extensive dossier of offical documents as soon as possible.

Once again, I want to emphasize for you that it is an absolutely affirmative defense to false allegations of slander and/or libel when one is speaking the truth.

I hope once you know the whole truth, you can understand why I said I no longer trusted Phil’s judgement.

What I didn’t say was it was caused by his employing not only a person of such low character, but someone with an extensive criminal background!!!

False sworn affidavits have been made to various courts and that will be easily proven as well.

Further, I read that someone (either Ron Polarik or someone posing as him) posted a highly defamatory statement accusing me of having a criminal background a block long.

If it is not him I suggest he make a public denial of this ASAP.

I sent him an email directly quoting the libelous comment and he has not denied it to me either directly, or in any other forum to my knowledge.

Additionally I have now been told confidentially by several people that OC posters are being threatened against posting elsewhere, or open their own blogs.

We live in a climate of fear and intimidation by official authroities, and make no mistake, these threats are no exception.

The whole disgusting truth is going to come out and when it does, I will be the one that is found by the courts to be defamed and libeled by Phil. Lisa and Momma E.

Thank you for your support friend…and don’t forget to invite anyone to our site that is sick of the harassment and climate of intimidation found elsewhere by the overtaking of their site by Obama Trolls.

    Ours is a Troll-Free Zone.

Thank you once again for your kind, supportive post. It means so much to me.

(Well, I’ll say it again. Isn’t it possible that there’s more than one Lisa Liberi and Linda Starr assumed they were one and the same?)

(I am NOT an Obama Troll!!! I swear it!!!)

(It’s probably not right to make light of this, but do you honestly think Berg, et al would have filed suit if his Lisa Liberi was in fact guilty of all these accusations?!)

ANOTHER RIGHT WING BLOGGER VISITED BY SECRET SERVICE FOR QUESTIONING OBAMA BIRTH CERTIFICATE

    by DefendUSx May 27, 2009 15:33
Posted on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 1:21:37 AM by RaceBannon

I was paid a visit by the Secret Service today at 2:30 PM EST. They were cordial and asked questions about my motives and my basis for our actions which I happily relayed. I talked with them (they had it with them) about the Presentments and Commander Fitzpatrick’s criminal complaint and they said they had been called by the autorities (whoever THEY are) in the Central District of GA. obviously related to my travels through that section of the State last week. I was told that I/we are well within our rights to take this action. This is GOOD news.., we are getting the message to the powers that be and they are aware of our efforts. Their concerns are related to what happens if the American people are summarily ignored.

__________________________________________________________________ On May 23rd, 2009, the American Grand Jury showed up to indict Obama by handing down presentments. The vote was unanimous. Twenty-seven (27) Jury members attested to the final charges: http://americangrandjury.org/

    http://jaghunters.blogspot.com/

Rise up for America’s Carl Swenssen reports:

“I was paid a visit by the Secret Service today at 2:30 PM EST. They were cordial and asked questions about my motives and my basis for our actions which I happily relayed.

I talked with them (they had it with them) about the Presentments and Commander Fitzpatrick’s criminal complaint and they said they had been called by the autorities (whoever THEY are) in the Central District of Georgia obviously related to my travels through that section of the State last week.

I was told that I/we are well within our rights to take this action.”

SECRET SERVICE IN GEORGIA: CARL SWENSSEN’S UPDATE

    Carl writes:

“They approached me because they were instructed to someone in U.S. Attorney’s office for Georgia’s Central District. I can only assume it came from U.S, Attorney Wood.

“No names were given but badges were flashed and they were who they said they were.

“When I asked their names they asked for what purpose and I clearly stated I would post them on my web site. They both refused and I could have asked them to leave at that point but chose not to and I’m glad I didn’t.

“We engaged in the constitutional definition of the term Natural Born and they were woefully ill prepared for my responses.

“The Secret Service special agents cited Article II Section I and said that there was gray area concerning the definition of Natural Born Citizen.

“I quickly showed them the definition as printed in the Laws of Nations and more specifically…Thomas Jefferson’s definition posted on my web site.

“They were taken aback by my firm grip on the meaning and had to change course.

“One asked me how many favorable responses I had received from the Judges and I responded none at which point he said if I had tried that many times why didn’t I just give up.

“I then asked if they had taken the oath to the Constitution and they agreed they had.

“I then reminded them that we now have Domestic enemies and asked what they planned to do about it. The sound of crickets was deafening. I reminded them that I was exercising my rights under the Constitution and they agreed I have every right to do so and furthermore I can continue doing this for as long as I wish.

“Their halfhearted attempt to dissuade me went nowhere so they finally cut to the chase.

“They were called out to make sure there was not a credible threat to the [impostor] president and I assured them that what all of us are doing is the last peaceful means of redress.

‘What if that doesn’t happen they asked?’

“I answered not and told them this was my focus as it is with thousands of others across the country and that I am certain I/we will be successful.

“They left asking just one question.

‘If someone were to tell me they intended to do the [impostor] president harm, would I report it?’

    “I respond in the affirmative.

“What I took away from that meeting was that these agents didn’t know the Constitution as I do and they had some soul searching to do.

“I am proud to be on their radar.

“They specifically asked me not to give out their names for fear of reprisal.

    I will honor that.”

  113. rosettasister Says:

“I am going on record here as saying that Lisa Liberi — the real one, not one of the 14 aliases that Lisa Courville Richardson (the REAL criminal) used — has been smeared by a person who worked for Phil and Lisa.”

“Her alias was Linda Starr and under her real name she has a rap sheet a block long.”

I could be wrong here, but I think I may have misinterpreted what Polarik meant.

In the first paragraph, I believe Polarik was referring to the (2) Lisa Liberi(s).

And the reference to Linda Starr’s real name has nothing to do with either Lisa Liberi.

    I think.

According to Berg, his Lisa Liberi is in some kind of Witness Protection and she fears her ex-husband finding her whereabouts (and her children’s whereabouts?)

I guess I’m just trying to understand why it wouldn’t be fairly straightforward proving there are in fact (2) Lisa Liberi(s).

    Perhaps this explains it.

I have known of instances where a person trusts another person, because of a long established friendship, so much that they simply took that person’s word as gospel truth and found no reason to fact check what was told to them by the “long-time friend”…..Why bother to fact check when you know beyond any shadow of doubt that the “friend” is telling it to you straight?…..Could this be the case with Phil and Lisa L.?

A “very good friend” of mine that I once worked with was accused of embezzelment by the company owner that we both worked for…..He let me know right away that it was a giant mistake and that he had not done what he was accused of…..I took his word for it, because I was certain that we were good enough friends that if he had really done it he would have just simply said, “Hey Troy, I really screwed up”, but he told me beyond any shadow of doubt that he didn’t do it and that our boss had made a big mistake…..In defense of my “good friend” I told my boss that I no longer wanted to work for him, because I didn’t want to work for anyone that wouldn’t give a long time employee the benefit of a doubt in regards to a serious matter like this….To make a long story short, my “good friend” lied to me, because he was too embarrassed and ashamed to tell me the truth….In fact, he was such a good friend and was so embarrassed and ashamed that he knowingly allowed me to quit my good job on his behalf.

Moral of the story: People are LIARS and they lie for all sorts of reasons.
That is why I have never commented on the Orly/Phil saga, because somebody’s ass is lying and it will come out in court as to who that somebody is….Until then, as far as I’m concerned, they are all suspect and I won’t comment on it again, until the liar is exposed.

I do tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.

But I wouldn’t assume that someone is necessarily lying.

This may be a case where someone is just mistaken, and too prideful to admit it.
