Cardinal says atheist’s theories “absurd”

A Vatican cardinal said Tuesday that the Catholic Church does not stand in the way of scientific realities like evolution, though he described as “absurd” the atheist notion that evolution proves there is no God.

Cardinal William Levada, head of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, reiterated church teaching about faith and science at the start of a Vatican-sponsored conference marking the 150th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s “The Origin of Species.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, Levada said the Vatican believed there was a “wide spectrum of room” for belief in both the scientific basis for evolution and faith in God the creator.

“We believe that however creation has come about and evolved, ultimately God is the creator of all things,” he said.

He said that while the Vatican did not exclude any area of science, it did reject as “absurd” the atheist notion of biologist and author Richard Dawkins and others that evolution proves there is no God.

“Of course we think that’s absurd and not at all proven,” he said. “But other than that … the Vatican has recognized that it doesn’t stand in the way of scientific realities.”

The Vatican under Pope Benedict XVI has been trying to stress its belief that there is no incompatibility between faith and reason, and the five-day conference at Rome’s Pontifical Gregorian University is a key demonstration of its efforts to engage with the scientific community.

Church teaching holds that Catholicism and evolutionary theory are not necessarily at odds. But the Vatican’s position became somewhat confused in recent years, in part because of a 2005 New York Times op-ed piece written by a close Benedict collaborator, Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn.

In the piece, Schoenborn seemed to reject traditional church teaching and back intelligent design, the view that life is too complex to have developed through evolution alone, and that a higher power has had a hand in changes among species over time.

Vatican officials later made clear they did not believe intelligent design was science and that teaching it alongside evolutionary theory in school classrooms only created confusion.

The evolution conference will explore intelligent design later this week, although not as science or theology but as a cultural phenomenon.

In his remarks, Levada referred to both Dawkins and the debate over teaching creationism in schools in the United States. He declined to pinpoint the Vatican’s views, saying merely: “The Vatican listens and learns.”

Cynkading, You mentioned you remember me from “the site they don’t mention around here”…I always feel slightly vulnerable when ever Im remembered from there. I was out of control angry at a lot of so called “bloggers” that I had met over there. It was my first experience blogging and I had bumped ways with some really frustrating souls. my initial anger over the obama win along with some really ugly dispositioned people took the worst out of me.

Ive been reminded every now and again that I was not so polite. oh well, not to digress from my intention to give thanks to you for your prayers and kind words.

The U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April (’08) that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn’t been updated since ’95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota ; western South Dakota ; and extreme eastern Montana ….. check THIS out:

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska ‘s Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable… at $107 a barrel, we’re looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

‘When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.’ says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature’s financial analyst.

‘This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years.’ reports, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It’s a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the ‘Bakken.’ And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada . For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the ‘Big Oil’ companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken’s massive reserves… and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That’s enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight.

    2. And if THAT didn’t throw you on the floor, then this next one should – because it’s from TWO YEARS AGO!

    U. S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World!
    Stansberry Report Online – 4/20/2006

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction.

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

    – 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
    – 18-times as much oil as Iraq
    – 21-times as much oil as Kuwait
    – 22-times as much oil as Iran
    – 500-times as much oil as Yemen
    – and it’s all right here in the Western United States .

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil!

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we’ve got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped. That’s more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

GOOGLE it or follow this link. It will blow your mind.

  5. patriotamy Says:

and, just why are we not tapping our oil?????????

  6. JAC Says:

Because it is about money and power …and probably involvement of the UN.

  7. patriotamy Says:

Back in the late 60’s, early 70’s my husband worked in the oil fields in northern Wyoming. They had many wells that were ‘fertile’ and they capped them off. Drill another, cap it off. Anyway, my point is that around that same time was when gas prices started going up because of the price of oil imports.

To my knowledge those wells in Wyoming are still capped. The shortage, the dependence on foreign oil, etc., are in my opinion, manufactured “crisis” to control the flow & price of oil.

  8. patriotamy Says:

I hate it that there are some really GOOD people who are completely ‘hoodwinked’ by the environmentalists. By the media and the hype that is out there to sway us to give up more and more of the freedoms and self-dependence.

How does one educate the masses?

  9. cynkading Says:

Good afternoon everyone. Our elite group has some kind of deal with OPEC and they have a choke hold on us.

  10. patriotamy Says:

But, if by some magical power, the masses were more knowledgable on this and other matters, we could lessen their power over us.

Gee, I don’t know. Would you like to talk about plasma phenomena and it’s relationship with UFOs?

  63. Tenacity Says:

Well now, that sounds interesting. What is plasma phenomena anyway?

  64. Tenacity Says:

Some people call it ball lighting. It is sometimes formed around high powered lines. It is a self sustaining magetic field that glows like a ball of light.

  65. Tenacity Says:

Hmmmm, what’s that got to do with UFOs?

  66. Tenacity Says:

When the ball lightning occurs at night, it looks like a UFO. It will also hover near an airplane. When it loses energy, it shrinks. Right before it expires, it turns red and then implodes. Pilots see it shrinking and perceive it to be acceleration away at high speed and think the implosion is a sonic boom. Thus they mistake the ball lightning as a UFO that can fly much faster than their plane.

  67. Tenacity Says:

What would happen if ball lightning happen to float up the TIC’s drainium and imploded?

    From: Q & A [2]: Svali Answers More Questions

Q: You say you had a core split, over 7,000 fragments and 16 internal systems. You mean you developed split personalities who weren’t aware of each other? If so, did any of these personalities seem to have a fairly nice life?

A: Yep, split personalities. Most of the people I knew in the Illuminati were fairly fragmented (in fact, I cannot think of anyone who was not dissociative to some degree). Even the local and regional leaders all come in for regular “programming tune ups” as Jonathan and I used to call them. The largest split was between the front and back; ie. daily life and night life. Most, but not all, of the night alters could communicate, or at least the controllers and the higher parts inside could (and relay information to those beneath them). And yes, many of my personalities had a wonderful life. I had 140 created to deal with daytime life, such as work, friends, and fun (who have coalesced).

Many of my back people had good experiences, such as the ones I described above with Dr. Brogan. Others were pampered and praised, told that I would be a leader in the coming “New Order” (of course, they tell everyone that….). I was to be a mediator between governmental figures in different nations because of my language abilities and people mediation skills. Many of my internal parts were quite proud of their abilities and accomplishments in the group, and grieved heavily when I left.

  70. Tenacity Says:

Do you think the TIC has a different front (daytime persona) and back (nighttime persona)? I can’t even imagine Mi***lle’s back persona. Now that is scary!

Part 15 – TV – The Perfect Mindcontrol Device –

Q: Svali, what role does television play? From your point of view, as an ex-Illuminati trainer/programmer, how much of a mindcontrol device ‘really’ is it? How does it interact with the brain, what sounds and images are used for programming? What makes TV the perfect mindcontrol device for the masses? Give us some details please.

Svali: It is important to realize that when a person watches TV, they go into an alpha brain wave state, in which they are more suggestible than normal. In fact, a LOT of Illuminati programming is done in alpha state, since the person is relaxed and highly suggestible. Have you ever noticed the glazed expression on the face of a person who has been watching TV for any length of time? This is from being in prolonged alpha state, and a semi dissociative state (and this is for people who HAVE NOT been raised with mind control).

Also, remember those studies that stated that “TV violence doesn’t affect children’s behaviour” years ago? Guess who funded them? They are a bunch of bullcrud. What a person watches DOES influence them, and this is well known by the behaviourists in the group. In fact, they know that TV is a tool that they purposely use to influence “the masses”. It cannot create a total personality change in the average citizen, but it can desensitize us increasingly to violence, pornography and the occult, and influence the perceptions of young children.

Most cartoons have a subtle message as well as subliminal ones meant to influence the next generation of children, destroy family values and old fashioned “morality” as being “Christian Right” or “prejudiced” or “politically incorrect’. TV today has a profound influence on our society, and especially young children. How many parents have delegated it as their children’s babysitter, yet have no idea what their children watch?

I am horrified at times to hear about the movies that my 12 year old son tells me his friends have watched : movies that depict mass murders, violence, and occult evil. I would never let an impressionable child watch the Matrix, Fight Club, or the new Exorcist, for example, or the “slasher movies” that are so popular among some teens.

Sounds and images include: flashing images and constant changes (such as with MTV videos, for example, or many of the new ads); certain tones are played on some shows, or even the theme of the show, if it glorifies the occult, such as many of the popular shows depicting a cute young teen witch as the heroine, or vampires and demonic shape shifting.
