Cirque Du Soleil Elvis Las Vegas

MGM City Center Hotel and Casino

(set to open in 2009 on Las Vegas Blvd. between the Monte Carlo and the Bellagio)

The Cirque du Soleil Elvis show will be produced in cooperation with CKX, which is a media and entertainment company that owns the rights to the name, likeness and image of Elvis Presley.

The show is slated to tour the country when it is ready to go, at least until it’s permanent home is established at the MGM City Center Hotel Casino, which is slated to open in 2009.

It is sure to have plenty of hip-swaying moves and classic Elvis songs.

Whether you love Elvis or are just a casual fan, the Las Vegas Elvis show is sure to strike a chord somewhere within.

The Usurper and Mr.-Deer-in-the-Headlights Gibbs will just pass it off as a “distraction”. They’re into transparency, remember? Good grief, it almost makes one want to turn to criminal behavior. That seems to be the best way to get ahead in this fake administration.

Btw, anybody see Imbiben’s oath flub w/ Hillary yesterday? After he said the words, “against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC” he FROZE. It’s so pathetically obvious.

Glenn laid out 9 principles and if you agree with them (not necessarily all of them), he wants you to take a picture of yourself, your spouse, your kid (all individual pictures) and send it to him. It’s the beginning of something you will really want to be a part of and hopefully something that unites we, the people. What are the principles? ”

Lead StoryNancy Pelosi & company yuk it up while stimulus becomes a national joke
    By Michelle Malkin • February 4, 2009 10:19 PM

House Speaker Nancy “Know Your Math” Pelosi is at the Washington Press Club Foundation’s dinner tonight along with other Beltway lawmakers.

Lots of MSM types Twittering the event, including Roll Call and WaPo’s The Sleuth. From all reports, it sounds like Pelosi and company are yukking it up. Glad they can laugh while they and their colossal failure of a “stimulus” package have become the biggest joke in America.

Pelosi apparently joked that times are so tough at the NYTimes that when Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner gets a call from the paper, he doesn’t know if it’s a media inquiry or a bailout request.

She also made fun of President Obama’s ears, saying his e-mail address is “I’m all ears at”

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar made a joke that would have had Rush Limbaugh boycotted by GLAAD if he had made it. She quipped: “I raised $17,000 from ex-boyfriends. Barney Frank holds that record in the House.”

And the Sleuth at WaPo adds that she overheard Pelosi saying she “wants to pee on the Washington Times.”

    Stay classy, Nan.

Tim from Indiana is working on presenting legislation regarding either sovereignty or honest money (gold backed currency) similar to what is being proposed in other states.

  58. justanamericancindy4 Says:

Cool,…. I heard a tiny bit of it……. then lost the connection, then it wouldn’t let me back

  59. Tenacity Says:

You can probably find the contact info for Tim on the membership roster in Indiana at the site.

  60. justanamericancindy4 Says:

    thanks Ten

  61. Tenacity Says:

Tim in Indiana may also be working on legislation to sanction thru the state the well-regulated state militia. Even though a state militia may exist, and I believe there may be one in Indiana, it is likely considered un-organized and not properly sanctioned by the state.

LT, did you do it? We did. Well we took the pics, haven’t e-mailed ’em yet. Has anyone been watching Glenn on Fox? He IS SO WOUND UP! Yesterdays show was riveting. Dang, he made me cry and he got so choked up himself.

Please go to the link that LT provided and play along. It’s for a good cause (he’s trying to gather up “the troops” to unite and fight the socialism track we find our selves on right now) and you might get on t.v.!

  64. CJ Says:

Anybody know if the following is true? I got this in an email today, but no link was providied. Just wondering because even though I’m not surprised anymore by what this birdbrain comes up with, this one is beyond belief if true.

  65. j.b. Says:

Hmmmm, well, I learnt that I get real nervous at the thought of speaking up to ax a question.
I missed the beginning so that kinda put me at a disadvantage. I would definately be willing to approach the prez of the gun club/ range we just joined and make something happen there to get the word out.

I went this past weekend to take a refresher course to get my CCW/CPL (?). We ended up “shopping” at two different stores, afterward. I overheard many conversations that I found interesting and there is a great deal of buzz about “what’s coming”, that’s for sure. The g h u n I am getting is on backorder and the rumor about ammo, esp for 380 is true. Oh and the piece I’m getting? Woulda been $100.00 less if we would have bought it before the election.

    Am I saying too much?

  66. j.b. Says:

Seriously? Nancy could get into a fight with a brain aneurism. Lose. And I would not give a rats ASS. I need help.

  67. Tenacity Says:

I highly recommend you check pawn shops. I’ve found that you can negotiate and get a better deal on weap*ns in great shape for less than you can at g*n shows.

I personally believe g**s are a great investment now, maybe as good or better than gold. Once they legislate the manufacturers out of business, the prices should skyrocket.

  68. j.b. Says:

Thanks , Ten. Since I’m getting mine for Valentines Day, lol, I hardly think it’s MY place to suggest WHERE to purchase it.
Besides, (true confessions time), I am a (little) bit of a *cough* germaphobe and thankfully, my guy respects that. 🙂 It’s all good.

  69. Tenacity Says:

I’m afraid the Pelosi windfall on retirement tax is a hoax.

There are several other sites reporting on this as well. This hoax was started back in 2006 when the stock market was high.

  70. Troy Says:

What is the easiest way for the gov. to control the gun issue?
Any guesses?….Everyone needs to stock up on powder, firing caps, casings, and slugs….Buy reloading tools / press, scale, etc….When the time comes and IT hits the fan the only ammo available will be what you have stockpiled and once it’s gone you will not be able to get any more….When you target practice save your spent brass and reload it yourself…It’s easy.

  71. Tenacity Says:

A new weap*n will not be sterilized and perhaps handled by numerous people. Have the g*n cleaned whether new or used, it won’t matter. My son has OCD…you?

  72. Troy Says:

You also need a small tool kit for that can be carried on your person complete with what’s needed for assembly / disassembly, muzzle rod and brushes ans lubricating oil…A dirty firearm that doesn’t properly work could get you in trouble.

  73. j.b. Says:

Not diagnosed OCD, but am persuaded by it maybe , a little?
My daughter has it, very mild. Not a germaphobe at all, just real organized.(her room has been clean since the second grade) Likes to count things in her head. ADHD, too.

  74. Tenacity Says:

You’re awake! Good advice…doing it already. Several of my buddies reload for me and I plan to get a re-loader soon to keep at our safe ranch not far from our house. She was scary insane before she declared herself ruler of the not-so-free-world. It’s the Peter Principle on steroids.

02040903 Hewitt: Hour 3 – Hugh talks about the non-stimulus bill with South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, legal issues with the Smart Guys, and politics with Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol.

    [audio src="" /]

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham on the non-stimulus bill: The process stinks, and the substance of the bill sucks

HH: Two last questions. The rhetoric this morning included a suggestion that we would have a catastrophe if this didn’t pass. It’s not the kind of speech that most Americans are used to from the president, because it kind of ups antes, and gets people nervous.

    LG: Right, exactly.

HH: Are you surprised by that?

LG: Big time, because I think he’s got his back against the wall now. He should have started with housing, because housing is the root cause of this.

A lot of Republicans would have supported the 4% mortgage, the Isakson amendment, my amendment to give money to the FDIC to negotiate loans underwater, that would have been a great housing package for about $250 billion dollars.

Then we could have moved on to banks and stimulus. But he chose stimulus, he backed the House bill that stunk up the place.

It came to the Senate, they’re trying to make it better by picking off a few Republicans, but now he’s got a President’s Day date of the 14th of February.

He can’t back out, he’s got himself in a canyon, and he’s changing his rhetoric, and I think this is scare tactics to try to justify passing a bill that really on its merits shouldn’t pass.

  102. CJ Says:

Thanks for the update ala Pooplosi’s retirement issue. I thought that might be the case since I had not heard it on the blogs. In any case, she is truly the biggest mistake in politics today. How she ever got to be in charge is a story I’d like to know. And I am a champion of good women getting into politics as much as possible. She is the worst example, male or female, of a politician that exists today IMO. What were the Dems thinking when the re-elected her as their boss in Congress?!!! I change my mind daily as to who wins the idiot of the day award–Pooplosi or Reid with Frank running a close third. Unbelievable such no nothing, out of touch elitists are in charge with a non-vetted CIC helping them. Yikes. We are surely and positively in big trouble. Is there room in Texas for some greenhorns ? Please? We are fast learners and would be loyal patriots. I can cook too.

  103. rosettasister Says:

Senator Graham on the “Stimulus”: “Well, all I can tell you is that the process stinks, and the substance of the bill sucks.”

Senator Graham’s assessment is that the president has “got his back against the wall now,” and that Senator Reid’s drive for cloture today or tomorrow is an attempt to stave off serious reform of the package. Reid will need at least two of the four Republican senators thought wobbly

–Snowe and Collins of Maine, Specter of Pennsylvania and Voinovich of Ohio—

but the example of the House may energize the GOP caucus to hang together and force through genuine restructuring of the package.

All three of these states stand to benefit significantly from stimulus that is focused and effective, so there are excellent reasons why the GOP’s 41 should hang together on this front.

Never has so much money been proposed for so many projects with so little scrutiny. All four of the GOP senators target by the White House have reputations for seriousness when it comes to legislation even if they are to the left of the GOP’s center.

It seems unlikely that they will give in to the bum’s rush to get this mess of a bill through the Senate before the public has a chance to absorb the details and react to the specifics.

  104. rosettasister Says:

    Olympia Snowe

But the suddenly-partisan-sounding President is also under pressure from senate Democrats and Republicans, like Olympia Snowe of Maine, who went to the White House Wednesday to urge spending cuts.

Worried that the Obama jobs plan would waste money on programs not well targeted at job creation.

“And he’s prepared to be receptive to these ideas and to re-evaluating some of the spending measures that were included that raise questions about whether or not they’re simulative,” Snowe said.

Flexibility on spending, not on tax cuts or Wall Street bonuses.

  105. rosettasister Says:

    Susan Collins

Ben Nelson , D-Neb., and Susan Collins , R-Maine, are leading the moderates’ effort, even as the Senate added billions more in spending provisions and tax cuts Wednesday evening, including a major expansion of a tax credit for homebuyers.

Both lawmakers met individually with President Obama earlier in the day, as he again urged quick passage of the legislation, warning that any delay could have dire consequences for the economy.

The bill (HR 1) before the Senate would cost more than $900 billion, and members of both parties are questioning whether some of the spending should be removed and considered as part of the regular appropriations process, instead of being tucked into the emergency stimulus bill.

“I want it to be a package that does not contain extraneous spending that may be worthwhile if it goes through the regular appropriations process, but does not meet the test of helping to boost our economy or help to create or save jobs,” Collins said. Sen. Olympia J. Snowe , R-Maine, also met with Obama Wednesday to express her concern with the overall size of the bill.

Both Collins and Nelson said Obama was receptive to some of their critiques. But Collins said the president told her he was concerned that if too much is cut, the package will be too small to have the needed impact on the economy. Collins said she would like to see the package cost about $650 billion, a number Obama told her was too low.

“His concern is that the package be robust enough and large enough to give a real jolt to the economy,” Collins said.

Both senators said they are discussing what funding to cut with about 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans. The proposal could be ready by Thursday.

Nelson and Collins declined to say what they want removed from the bill. But Nelson said his bottom line for cuts would be a lot more than $30 billion. Earlier Wednesday his office put that figure at more than $50 billion.

The senators said that Obama has assigned Lawrence H. Summers, director of the White House National Economic Council, and White House budget director Peter R. Orszag to work with them on what funding can be cut.

    Arlen Specter

Mr. Specter voted to move forward President Barack Obama’s $900 billion Economic Recovery And Reinvestment Act. While the senator raised serious concerns about the merits of the bill, he deemed it the subject of worthwhile debate. The following are his remarks during the vote.

“I am prepared to support a stimulus package, but I want to be as sure as I can that the monies which we appropriate will be directed in a meaningful way to create jobs as promptly as possible and not in the future,” he said.

He went on to say: “I traveled in October, and I heard loud complaints from my constituents; I’m sure they were registered all over the country. Now we’re facing another situation where we are being asked to complete legislation by Feb. 13, in time for a recess. I have grave doubt that that’s a wise course of action. In fact, I think it is not a wise course of action. There is no doubt we have to move promptly, but the old saying is that we have to do it right as opposed to doing it fast.”

Mr. Specter met with Mr. Obama Tuesday to discuss amendments to the bill, including more opportunities for job creation and tax cuts.

This morning Fox News interviewed a Senator (D). He is the ONE Senator that the Dems need to give them a 60 vote fillibuster proof passage. He said he would like to see the package be reduced to 700 billion before he would feel good about it. This is a huge dog and pony show. There is no stopping this thing now. Our country and our freedoms are being dismantled piece by piece.

Two U.S. senators seek to strip $200 billion from stimulus

Anxious over the ballooning size of the proposed economic stimulus package, now at more than $900 billion, lawmakers in both parties are working on a last-minute plan to strip $200 billion from the bill.

The effort is being led by two centrist senators Ben Nelson, Democrat of Nebraska, and Susan Collins, Republican of Maine.

    George Voinovich

Later, in a series of votes on amendments to the bill on Wednesday evening, Senate Democrats easily beat back a number of efforts by Republicans to vastly change the stimulus measure by stripping out spending programs and broadening the tax cuts.

In a number of those votes, the Democrats were joined by Collins and Snowe, as well as Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and George Voinovich of Ohio.

For procedural reasons, at least 60 votes are needed to advance the legislation and with those four Republicans voting in favor, Democrats could muscle the bill through.

The Democrats currently hold 58 out of 99 seats in the Senate, with one vacancy because of the contested election in Minnesota; this week only 57 Democrats have been voting because Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts has been absent, due to illness.

    Stimulus in Spend City

Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Ben Nelson, D-Neb., are talking about shaving as much as $200 billion from the Senate stimulus package.

“I’m not a big fan of the current stimulus bill,” Bob Bixby of the fiscal watchdog group the Concord Coalition told me. “They should spend more time worrying about where to spend the TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) money and how to spend TARP II. I think that’s much more important for the future of the economy than what’s in the stimulus bill.”

Some of the tax cuts and spending make sense, Bixby noted, as they’re directed at “people who could use help, people who are out of work, or stuff that will be pretty quickly injected into the economy.” Put together a plan with the right tax cuts and quick spending, and the total “might add up to $400 billion,” he said.

As for the billions that go to “green” buildings, federal hiring and other programs — that money should be allocated during normal appropriations.

    Two more points.

First, Obama was right to argue with those who think that “tax cuts alone will solve all our problems.” For one thing, some tax cuts won’t stimulate the economy. “You lose the revenue, but you lose the revenue to people who don’t spend it,” Stone noted. For another, they add to the deficit. And worse, then you’ve got the problem of shutting them off.

Second, if Obama really wants to create good jobs, the stimulus package should advocate opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and Outer Continental Shelf to oil and gas drilling, as Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., suggested. It wouldn’t cost taxpayers a dime, would raise federal revenue, create good jobs and decrease American dependence on foreign oil.

The very fact that Obamadom hasn’t even thought to push for more drilling tells you that maybe this stimulus package isn’t about jobs. It’s about politics.

The one is on now telling us all that his stim plan is the end all and be all for us folks. He lies better than anyone I have ever seen. However, he did stumble a few times. Of course he says it needs to be passed now no matter that the Senate is still looking at it. Scare us scare us, that’s his mo on getting what he wants. We are the stupid ones for listening to anyone critical of this bill. Well, he better know that there are a lot of us out here who know what his game is and aren’t going to be scared or manipulated without a fight. His lap dogs were smiling and shaking their heads in agreement. Marketing 101, make people think they need something real badly and that they need it now. We are better consumers than that though aren’t we. Every time he talks I cringe. I sure hope the Senators are listening to all of us sending faxes, emails and calling. We shall see very soon.
