EXCERPTS

But when liberals point to Summers and other members of the Obama team, crying betrayal, they misunderstand the strategy behind those appointments. The most important thing to remember about the president-elect as he prepares to govern is that he takes the long view — and that he knows how to make a reasonable case for radical change. He has not taken one step back from the commitments he articulated during his campaign.

Indeed, Obama has steadfastly refused to scale back his platform of spending initiatives, from infrastructure to health care, despite all the tut-tutting commentary. Instead, even as he rolled out his team, he pledged a very substantial spending increase during the first two years of his term as the only means to prevent the recession from plunging into something far worse.

And his appointees will implement the Obama program, not only because that is what he tells them to do but because that is what they have come to believe is best for the country. Whatever Summers or Geithner or any of the other centrists on the new team may once have said or thought, they will pursue a course of massive counter-cyclical spending, public investment and strong new regulation.

As for Summers, just last month he published an essay in the Financial Times that seemed to acknowledge past errors, writing that the “wealth and income gains from the easy availability of credit were highly concentrated in the hands of a fortunate few.”

Sounding liberal themes, he went on to call for a strict new regulatory regime and measures to ensure that the nation’s future prosperity will be broad-based and inclusive. He and the rest of the Obama team possess the managerial competence to implement those policies, which is why the president-elect appointed them. He knows that the proof will be in the pudding and not the cooks.

wnd – thanks for all your good information. I too feel like the info in the Federalist blog is really good stuff. Thanks for letting me use the post up there, too. I am going to include it in an email I am going to send out.

Can someone give me the breakdown on what Leo’s opinion on that was? Poor Leo may be in a little over his head…if he suceeds it will be a victory for the common guy. I am glad too that Thomas is on top of this case – he is an excellent justice with a mind to strictly interpret the Constitution.

ANYWAY, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I had a nice time with my LIBERAL family-in-laws…I made some political points but sorta kept Obama out of it except to say that we should expect taxes to hit the roof before he is out of office – to which the actually seemed to agree! Wierd.

I am gonna do a little shopping so I will check back in later. If someone can update me on Leo’s case I always read the old post so TIA!

  3. wndawmn666 Says:

I don’t know what Leo had to say about the stuff on the Federalist Blog but I’m going to poke around and see what I can find.

Also, has anyone read the articles by Judah Benjamin that are posted on
    Texas Darlin’ about this stuff?

    texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/07/25/divided-loyalties-pt-1/

    texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/07/25/divided-loyalties-pt-2/

They pretty much reiterate the thoughts and ideas presented on the Federalist Blog.

If I can find anything from Leo I will be sure to post it here.

  4. wndawmn666 Says:

Looks like I misread a comment on the previous thread.

It stated that a caller mentioned the Federalist Blog to Leo – not that Leo mentioned the blog.

    Google ‘censoring’ anti-Obama stories?

Pamela Gellar of Atlas Shrugs claims the search engine giant has banned her groundbreaking articles about Obama – a technique many people refer to as “sandboxing.”

“It’s a freedom of speech issue,” she said. “Who are they to decide what should be searched? They don’t like what I’m running so they ban me?”

    This is from MediaMatters

I just find it strange that some on the left keep bringing up this stuff:

“Still waiting for the Rightroots movement, cont’d”

    http://mediamatters.org/countyfair/200811260001

Here were just some of the stories (i.e. conspiracy theories) that prominent conservative bloggers chased, at times relentlessly, during the 2008 campaign; stories they complained the mainstream media just wouldn’t touch:

*While attending Columbia University in the early 1980’s and interested in the South African divestiture movement, Obama was involved in violent protests, including domestic terrorist bombings, that erupted when a South African rugby team toured America.

*Obama had an affair with a young female staffer who was promptly exiled to a Caribbean country by an angry Michelle Obama who discovered the blossoming relationship.

*Obama’s deeply personal memoir, Dreams of My Fathers, was actually ghost-written by Bill Ayers, the former ’60’s radical-turned college professor who befriended Obama in Chicago in the 1990’s.

*Michelle Obama did an interview with something called African Press International where she condemned “American white racists” who were bringing up issues of Obama’s citizenship.

*Obama was not born in the United States, and therefore not eligible to President. The birth certificate his campaign posted online to debunk that story was actually a forgery. And that he was actually born in Kenya.

*When Obama went to visit his ailing grandmother in Hawaii in October, he was really traveling there in order to deal with controversy about his birth certificate.

*Obama was getting answers in the first debate through a clear plastic hearing aid in his ear.

*Obama is the illegitimate son of Malcolm X.

  28. Cyndi Says:

Those that have time would you read this article? I know it’s long but it tells alot about Obama and some of his key connections and how they play a role in Obama’s administration. Brzezenski and Soros are suppose to be the men puppetering Obama and what their plans are for the country.

Obama lied about contacts with Brzezinski before OH primary

    youtube.com/watch?v=20RGookyRrM

It appears to me that these men all have ties to Big Banking and the Federal Reserve. The federal reserve is causing our dollar to collapse.

The Federal Reserve caused the 700 billion dollar bailout and economic crash
    youtube.com/watch?v=KV9yDLhKbjg

I think we should be paying attention to the federal reserve and the people that cater to it. There are many video’s about the federal reserve you kind find out the history of the federal reserve and why some of the earlier president’s were so against it.

I’m aware this is almost three years old. But this may be a blueprint of exactly how Obama’s lawyers intend to circumvent the Article II requirement for our nation’s President to be “natural born”.

“Although some of the reasons for maintaining the natural born citizen requirement are rational, many of the reasons are based primarily on emotion. Therefore, although globalization is one impetus that should drive Americans to rely on reason and amend the Constitution, this paper argues that common perceptions about globalization ironically will convince Americans to rely on emotion and oppose a Constitutional amendment.”

Sarah P. Herlihy is employed by Kirkland & Ellis LLP http://www.kirkland.com . Note: this law firm is based in Chicago. Bruce I. Ettelson, P.C., is a Member of the finance committees for both U.S. Senators Barack Obama and Richard Durbin.

Good news!!!….In this video Justice Anthony Scalia gives his opinion on the concept of a “living coststitution” versus “original intent”….He strongly opposes the idea and believes that the constitution is to be interpreted as the original framers wrote it with no consideration given to current times and events….I have a feeling that most if not all the justices feel this way…They are afterall, married to the constitution and are it’s protectors….In the video you can get acquainted with Justice Scalia….He seems like a very likeable fellow….He has 28 grandchildren, WOW!!!….You can also Google the other justices and the word “video” to the search criteria.

  56. Bob Says:

Before anyone criticizes the “natural born citizen” clause of the Constitution (like Susan Herlihy’s article citing that it has been called the ’stupidest provision’ in the constitution), they need to remember that this clause all alone and by itself that was used by Congress to wipe out millions of dollars of property held by slave owners, and to eliminate slavery within the jurisdiction of the United States, as witnessed by the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and the “Citizenship Clause” in Sec. 1 of the 14th Amendment.

What she has forgotten, it that Congress always had the right to regulate “naturalization,” but American-born slaves were not “foreigners,” so the authority to regulate naturalization did not apply.

So, it was only the “natural born citizen” qualification to be President of the United States that offered Congress the leverage it needed to abolish slavery, and they used it to the fullest extent, on the logic that since the former slaves were “natural born,” they had to be “citizens.” (This decision was upheld in U. S. vs. Rhodes (1866))

    Justice Rehnquist has also noted in the Constitution, “a political document noted for its brevity,” that there are 11 instances addressing the “citizen-alien” distinction: Art. 1, S 2, C 2; S 3, C , S 8, C 4; Art. 2, S 1, C 5, Art. 3, S 2, C 1; Art. 4, S 2, C 1, and in the 11th, 15th, 19th, 24th and 26th Amendments.

Of all of these, Rehnquist says, the first sentence of the 14th Amendment is the most important. And, in fact, the “Citizenship Clause” in the Fourteenth Amendment (Sec. 1) was proposed by Senator Jacob Merritt Howard of Michigan almost as an afterthought.

So, in summary, the “natural born citizen” clause was a stroke of genius that was later used to end every cruel attempt to create second-class citizens through “Jim Crow” laws and the evil of Segregation.

This makes it so peculiar that Barack Obama and his allies seem to want to make an issue of the “natural born citizen” clause.

This makes Alan Keyes right to notice that Barack Obama appears never to have dealt with the same issues that Ambassador Keyes had to in rising to his achievements, or he might have a greater respect for the meaning of the words: “natural born citizen!”

This might be a leading indicator that Obama is NOT “really” the American he wants us to believe he is!
