“Liverpool Slaver”
One of Heine’s darkest satires
http://davidsbuendler.freehostia.com/slaveship.htm
EXCERPT
On average two a day will die,
Yet today we were seven shorted,
Four men and three women — I noted the loss,
‘Twas at once in my notebook recorded.
I inspected the carcasses carefully;
For often these rogues will fake it,
In hopes that we’ll toss them overboard,
To the waves where they think they will make it.
And of course, as usual, I removed
The irons that the dead were adorning,
I had the corpses thrown in the sea
Right early in the morning.
And then, in a flash, there emerged from the waves
An army of sharks to receive them,
They certainly love that negro-flesh;
My pensioners, so I conceive them.
They follow along in the wake of our ship,
From the moment that we are leaving;
The beasts pick up the aroma of corpse
With a snuffling hunger-craving.
It’s just the funniest thing to behold,
How they snap up the dead as they follow!
One grabs the head, one grabs the leg,
The scraps by the others are swallowed.
If all is devoured, they bustle about
Near the vessel, so charmingly reckless,
They gawk at me, in a way that appears
That they want to say, Thanks for the breakfast.”
Modern Poetry in Translation New Series No. 18 – 2001
Heinrich Heine
WD Jackson writes: In 1843 Heinrich Heine – who had been living in Paris for over a decade – revisited his native Germany, where he spent altogether about two months.
On his return he wrote the 2056 lines of Deutschland – Ein Wintermärchen. At the end of this poem he acknowledges Aristophanes as his master, but there is a lot more to Deutschland than social comment or political satire, and like many of Heine’s works – together with his life and opinions in general – it resists easy categorization.
Heine had moved to Paris in 1831, inspired by the July Revolution, which deposed Charles X, the last Bourbon king, and placed the citizen-king Louis-Philippe on the throne.
The complexities of Heine’s politics present, as JL Sammons expresses it, “a rather knotty problem of interpretation . . . Towards Louis-Philippe Heine could be very critical, but also very sympathetic, and he seems to have become increasingly sympathetic as the 1840s went on.
In Heine’s iconology king and poet were spiritual brothers, and this attitude informed much of his ironic view of the citizen-king.
‘Kings, like great poets,’ he wrote with a straight face, ‘cannot defend themselves and must bear lies circulated about them in silent patience’” (Heinrich Heine – A Modern Biography, 1979).
Heine, however, defended himself – usually by some form of attack – on every imaginable occasion.
In 1834 he met the almost illiterate 19-year-old French shop assistant, Crescence Eugénie Mirat, who was later to become his wife.
A further reason for staying in Paris was that his work had been banned along with that of other liberals by the German authorities – and while in Germany he was in some danger of being arrested.
Apart from another trip to Germany in 1844, Heine was to spend the remainder of his life in Paris, where he died in 1856.
Of the following poems, the first is a more or less literal translation.
“Hoffmann von F”, who is mentioned in it, is Hoffmann von Fallersleben, who was dismissed from his Breslau professorship in 1842 for his ironically titled Unpolitical Songs.
Hoffmann became a kind of 19thcentury beatnik poet, travelling about from inn to inn with his guitar and his popular songs, which Heine disliked intensely, regarding them as symptomatic of the beginning of the end of high art – one of the prices the world would have to pay for the rise of democracy.
The second poem, ‘Liverpool Revisited – A Winter’s Tale’, is developed from the first and also from other sections of Deutschland – Ein Wintermärchen, incorporating in addition translations and adaptations of ‘Das ist der alte Märchenwald’, ‘Abschied von Paris’ (or ‘Adieu à Paris’) and ‘Karl I’.
The Slave Ship
The latter part of the poem alludes as well to Heine’s ‘The Slave Ship‘, published in MPT 8.
Van de Smissen is the ship’s doctor and van Koek its supercargo.
Heine spent some time in England in 1827 but did not, as far as I know, travel to Liverpool, although his father had once had business contacts there and Harry Heine himself (he became ‘Heinrich’ only on his conversion to Protestantism in 1825) had been named after a Liverpool merchant called ‘Mr Harry’.
In any case, for those unfamiliar with Liverpool’s topography, which comes into the poem, the Anglican and Roman Catholic cathedrals stand at either end of Hope Street and the pub, The Philharmonic, is about halfway between them.
A “jigger” is a back entry.
As for Maggie May, she is treated here as a kind of tutelary deity of the city, much as Heine treats ‘Hammonia’ as the goddess of Hamburg in some of the most amusing – and scatological – sections of Deutschland (XXIII-XXVI).
In MPT 5 Daniel Weissbort wrote: ‘For many translators, it seems, a threshold has been crossed, an era of self-consciousness entered, making it increasingly hard to limit oneself exclusively or unreflectively to the work in hand.’
With this in mind, even a fairly loose imitation – which is partly what ‘Liverpool Revisited’ consists of – is a form of variation or commentary on its original(s) which may actually be going only a step or two further than what we usually think of as translation.
The tension between what a writer actually wrote and what he could have written is in any case a frequently enough productive one in all but the most literal of translators’ minds.
Furthermore, this particular imitation is intended, directly and indirectly, as a meditation as well on the question of “Why translate?”
Over the threshold, perhaps – but not out of the garden.
Finally, one or two notes on the subject of slavery – developed from ‘The Slave-Ship’ – in ‘Liverpool Revisited’.
As is well known, Liverpool grew to dominate trade not only in Britain but in Europe during the 18th century:
“Almost every man in Liverpool is a merchant . . . The attractive African meteor has so dazzled their ideas, that almost every order of people is interested in a Guinea cargo. Many of the small vessels are fitted out by attornies, drapers, ropers, grocers, tallow-chandlers, barbers, taylors &c” (J Wallace, History of Liverpool, 1795).
The enormous profits derived from the slave-trade were invested in numerous enterprises, including banking, and Heywoods Bank, which is mentioned in the poem, was one of the earliest banks to be founded in Liverpool – in 1773.
This bank was taken over by the Bank of Liverpool in 1883, which later became part of Martins Bank and more recently part of Barclays.

The music of Rasa is a must have for any Yoga teacher and/or student.
Rasa’s album, Devotion, is an enchanting musical exploration of Indian devotional music with beautiful lyrics from Kim Waters set to the instrumental music of cellos, sarangi (Indian violin), sitara (small sitar), and the Swedish keyed fiddle.
The result is an amazing flow of sound that flows like pure water, giving you a sensual and rythmic pulse to perform Yoga to.
I love the non-traditional, world-fusion style of the Indian devotional music in this album.
The chants do not follow your typical call and response format, but rather, contain a fluid, melodious nature that gives them the feeling of a vocal performance.
Only if you listen very closely can you tell that some of these songs are actually traditional chants.

Yephora,
We have never been away from “I don’t know,” which is precisely what I posted in this posting.
The problem is that I’ve questioned WND, and lots of folks don’t like that, because they equate such questioning with the idea that somehow I think that the eligibility issue is no longer an issue. In my opinion, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
The truth is that the lack of evidence is not evidence for anything except … the lack of evidence! And we’ve had a lack of evidence for a very long time. There is nothing new there.
However, when WND insinuates that Mr. Adams’ confirmation that the lack of evidence (i.e.: no birth certificate) means that he was “possibly” (to use WND’s term) born in Kenya and that
— while Mr. Adams, as far as we know, had no direct, tangible access to Mr. Obama’s birth records but merely is passing on what he’s heard from other third parties (and who knows that they would confirm),
it is very, very difficult to say that one knows anything other than what we’ve already known for sure.
Hence, my questioning WND’s insinuation of their article.
And what a response that my questioning has produced!
I’ll tell you what I’m going to do.
I’m going to write back to Mr. Adams and ask some very pointed questions regarding his stint at HI elections and see if I can’t clarify lots of questions even further.
Thanks for the comment,
-Phil

Proposal in Congress puts feds in middle of catastrophe claims

But a letter to members of Congress by members of SmarterSafer.org, dispatched just days ago, said the plan would “displace the private insurance market, and require American taxpayers to pay billions of dollars to support beach front homes and development in environmentally sensitive areas.”
“The ‘Homeowners’ Defense Act,’ H.R. 2555, dubbed the ‘Beach House Bailout,’ requires taxpayers across the country, and in your district, to subsidize insurance for wealthy homeowners along the Florida coastline,” the letter to members of Congress said.
“The bill is structured to assist the state of Florida (and to a much smaller extent, California) through federal assistance.”
Analyst Eli Lehrer, a senior fellow of the Heartland Institute, called it “a takeover of the reinsurance market.”
That, he said, would lead government into the insurance business and eventually the primary insurance market.
(Given the outlook for private health insurance providers, we should probably heed this warning.)

The Alien in the White House
The distance between the president and the people is beginning to be revealed.

It is no surprise that Mr. Posner—like numerous of his kind—has found a natural home in this administration.
His is a sensibility and political disposition with which Mr. Obama is at home.
The beliefs and attitudes that this president has internalized are to be found everywhere—in the salons of the left the world over—and, above all, in the academic establishment, stuffed with tenured radicals and their political progeny.
The places where it is held as revealed truth that the United States is now, and has been throughout its history, the chief engine of injustice and oppression in the world.
They are attitudes to be found everywhere, but never before in a president of the United States.
Mr. Obama may not hold all, or the more extreme, of these views.
But there can be no doubt by now of the influences that have shaped him.
They account for his grand apology tour through the capitals of Europe and to the Muslim world, during which he decried America’s moral failures—her arrogance, insensitivity.
They were the words of a man to whom reasons for American guilt came naturally.
Americans were shocked by this behavior in their newly elected president.
But he was telling them something from those lecterns in foreign lands—something about his distant relation to the country he was about to lead.
The truth about that distance is now sinking in, which is all to the good.
A country governed by leaders too principled to speak the name of its mortal enemy needs every infusion of reality it can get.

The turmoil continues.
This investigation should have been wrapped up a year ago.
I doubt that a conservative administration would have been permitted half this time before the stream media screeched it out of business.
This administration is determined to fish up something on Arpaio because he stands in between it and the democrat Mexican votes it needs to survive.

GOP Candidate for AZ-GOV Wants ‘Tent Cities’ For Illegal Immigrants Convicted of Other Crimes
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/06/arpaio_backs_az_state_treasurers_plan_to_create_te.php
According to a statement by Martin, he and Arpaio met earlier this week, and Arpaio endorsed Martin’s “Zero Tolerance” plan because it “offers real solutions.”
Martin told TPM that Arpaio also said he would take on any illegal immigrants arrested in his own Maricopa County for other crimes.
In the plan, Martin describes how the state of Arizona could save millions by temporarily housing “criminal aliens” in either private prisons or in “tent cities.”
Though in his proposal Martin says Arizona “can no longer afford the luxury of comfy new prisons when our state is in the red,” he assured TPM that with the tent cities, “we’re not talking about a Shantytown here.”
He said they would use extra land adjacent to existing prison facilities, which would allow the tent cities “room to grow, so to speak.”
When asked to describe what the tent cities would look like, Martin said that they would be modeled after those used by Sheriff Arpaio in Maricopa county, using army surplus tents that have “air conditioning or evaporative cooling” but are also “portable and temporary.”
He also emphasized that his plan would eliminate the need to release convicted illegal immigrants from prison 90 days early, which he says Gov. Jan Brewer has been doing to balance the budget.
Martin’s plan would also require welfare recipients to give thumb prints before getting a check, and speed up the completion of the border fence, among other things.

Bob Lazar is a former employee of area 51 and was a key informant in breaking the story of the SR-71 Blackbird.
Lazar is owner of a mail-order scientific supply company and claims to be a physicist who worked from 1988 until 1989 at an area he alleges exists called S-4 (Sector Four).
He claims that S-4 is situated at the edge of the (dry) Papoose Lake bed, near Groom Lake, Nevada, about 15 miles from Area 51.
Lazar claims this area was devoted to the study and back-engineering of extraterrestrial space vehicles.
In a series of interviews, he provides supposed details on the origin of the alleged craft and their mode of propulsion.

Mamas & Papas
1. California Dreamin’
2. Spanish Harlem
3. Glad to Be Unhappy
4. Go Where You Wanna Go
5. Monday, Monday
6. My Girl
7. No Salt on Her Tail
8. Sing for Your Supper
9. Twelve-Thirty (Young Girls Are Coming to the Canyon)
10. Words of Love
The CD starts with the title track, “California Dreamin’.”
This song came out at a time when many young people were disillusioned about life and the song became a calling to them to move to California.
Young people hoped that if they lived in California they could enjoy a better quality of life and more inner peace as well.
The group really harmonizes well on “California Dreamin’;” and I know you’ll like this tune.
Listen also for a slower than normal tempo on “Spanish Harlem;”
The Mamas & The Papas do a fine interpretation of this classic ballad; and the percussion works very well on this number.
“Go Where You Wanna Go” features more perfect harmonizing as The Mamas & The Papas sing this out with style, heart and soul.
I like the tempo changes and they sing this out strong like the pros that they always were!
(Go Where You Wanna Go — I remember listening to this song on AM radio (770?) when I had the mumps or whooping cough. It’s funny what one remembers.)
baby boomers in the 1960s on WABC’s Top 40 AM station 770
I was there from 1964 — 1965 2nd grade
1965 — 1966 3rd grade
1966 — 1967 4th grade
Somewhere in there
“Monday, Monday” is clearly one of the biggest hits for this timeless group;
“Monday, Monday” swings gently with just enough of a rock flavor to make this an exceptionally fine ballad.
They sing “Monday, Monday” very well; and this was always one of my very favorite tunes by The Mamas & The Papas.
“No Salt On Her Tail” has a mixture of rock and folk rock to make this a memorable tune; I really like “No Salt On Her Tail.”
This ballad makes great use of the guitar and percussion as The Mamas & The Papas sing it out strong!
“Twelve Thirty (Young Girls Are Coming To The Canyon)” has the group’s vocals squarely in the spotlight as the guitars, percussion and more make a solid musical arrangement. ”
“Twelve Thirty (Young Girls Are Coming To The Canyon)” is clearly a major highlight of this album.
The CD ends nicely with Mama Cass belting out “Words Of Love” as her peers help her out on background vocals.
Cass sure could sing this well and the music helps the melody along.

From TRSOL article linked above:
[....]
Of course, just because someone goes on record (say, via an affidavit) with certain claims doesn’t mean much unless whatever question is at hand (in this case, the lack of birth records) has its day in Court.
Nevertheless, the fact that someone who was directly associated with HI elections is a major step forward in this saga — certainly nobody else has come forward to disagree with the Department of Health’s official statement.
As I brought up at the top of my last posting, I, too, have a number of very specific questions that I’ve asked Mr. Adams.
I did not ask him about anything except his dealings when he was under contract with HI elections.
After all, in my view, his opinion of the Constitution is worth no more or less than yours or mine — and that’s irrelevant to the issue at hand.
We’re talking about the existence — or the lack thereof — of birth records;
constitutional questions would naturally, by extension, be answered from that point forward (once again, with the potential exception of the fact of Mr. Obama’s British citizenship at birth).
All of this brings up an excellent question.
Since we already have the DoH Director on record with her view that Mr. Obama is a natural born citizen (noting, of course, that she is only an authority over public health records),
what if we get Mr. Adams’ statements on record — informally via email and/or formally via affidavit — that he says that Mr. Obama does not have a birth certificate and such a statement can be substantiated?
I’m sure we’ll soon see.

New Health Reform Campaign Puts Dem Candidates in a Tough Spot
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1996363,00.html
Democrat Betsy Markey, a freshman member of Congress representing a district in northeast Colorado, had voted against the original House health reform bill.
After she changed sides and backed the final measure, Republicans broadcast cries of “Bye-bye, Betsy,” saying she was sure to be voted out in this fall’s election.
Sarah Palin designated Markey as one of 20 Democratic seats on her “target” list for their health care votes.
Supporters, however, have rallied behind Markey; she raised more than $350,000 in the weeks after landing on Palin’s list and her campaign to highlight benefits of the new law has mirrored the Administration’s.
She sent out a press release announcing the $250 Medicare rebate checks, for instance, and has benefited from television ads paid for by unions and the Democratic National Committee.
[....]
Those opposed to Democratic health reform still see the issue as a political winner, White House p.r. efforts notwithstanding.
House minority leader John Boehner sent out a press release about the newly energized Administration messaging campaign titled “All that Glitters Is Not Sold,”
and James Capretta, a former White House staffer during the George W. Bush Administration, is spearheading a website touted by conservative Bill Kristol to counter pro–health care reform messages.

You’re losing your plan
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/you_re_losing_your_plan_O2H1EFmYlHSoQmqp48uDHI
Bottom line: Sebelius means to dictate what your insurance plan must look like almost from day one, no matter how you get your coverage.
Indeed, the draft regs envision more than half of all policies having to change within three years — an unmistakable break with President’s Obama’s oft-repeated promise,
“If people like their insurance, they will be able to keep it.”
Yet that may be the least of the broken promises. (???!!!)
Ultimately, these rules force consumers to buy one of just four health policies — which vary mostly only by trading off higher co-payments for lower premiums, while offering essentially the same actual benefits.
In arguing for passage of the law, ObamaCare’s defenders claimed the rules were aimed at health plans sold in the “exchanges.”
Oops: Now Sebelius is applying them to employer plans.
*** Eventually, this would force all but the very wealthiest Americans into a single government-designed insurance scheme. ***
This is far from the only area where Secretary Sebelius is exploiting the law’s fuzzy language to tighten her control over the private insurance market.
In recent weeks, she has said that the new law gives her authority to review and even set the rates on health policies sold in private markets, a role previously left to state insurance regulators.
The ObamaCare bills were written to paper over an intellectual divide between White House economists and HHS policy wonks.
Some economists wanted genuine competition to take root in the new federally managed insurance “exchanges.”
The HHS crew favored a one-sized government plan with tight federal regulation over benefits.
The law itself didn’t explicitly side with either school — but it did leave the writing of the implementing regs to those same HHS wonks.
Unfortunately, those more moderate White House economists are now leaving the administration, including the rumored departure of widely admired businessman and health-care expert Robert Kocher.
Washington insiders refer to this HHS team as “true believers” — a group of earnest, left-leaning activists who’ve long favored a single nationalized health plan.
*** They are massaging the law’s vagueness to give themselves the tight federal control over health care that will bring their vision into practice. ***
Critics warned that the Obama bill meant a federal takeover of health care, with Washington bureaucrats making core decisions about medical care.
With ObamaCare taking shape, that’s exactly what consumers are getting.
Saying “we told you so” is no consolation to those who took the president at his word.
(None of this would have happened if it weren’t for 60 Democrat senators. I’d like to see one of these “centrist” Dems go on record saying they regret their vote.)

Security an elusive goal in immigration debate
http://www.mydesert.com/article/20100614/NEWS11/100614013/1263/UPDATE/Security+an+elusive+goal+in+immigration+debate
Arizona state Rep. John Kavanagh, one of the sponsors of that state’s controversial law, contends that it is possible to lock down the border.
“Real fencing backed up by adequate enforcement does work,” Kavanagh said. “It pretty much works in California.”
The projected cost of border fencing is around $5 million a mile, the Senate aide said.
That would be a price tag of nearly $9 billion for the 1,700 miles of border that currently isn’t covered by a fence.
And fences don’t stop crossers — they merely slow them down, so that the border patrol is better able to catch them, the aide said.
With huge budget deficits looming, there is little appetite for such spending.
But most political observers believe that for an immigration bill to stand any chance in Congress, the Obama administration is going to have to convince more Americans that violence and illegal immigration have been stanched.
(But don’t believe what Dems are saying. Listen to Arizonans. We’ll tell you what’s really happening.)
“It is impossible for me and any other serious Democrat to get this body to move forward until we prove to the American people we can secure our borders,” Graham told Napolitano during the Judiciary Committee encounter.
“But once we get there, comprehensive reform should come up, will come up.”

U.S. Will be Like Greece in ‘Seven to 10 Years,’ Say Congressmen, Experts
Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), various other Congressmen, and additional leading financial experts are warning that the United States is in danger of succumbing to the same fate as Greece, national bankruptcy, in seven to 10 years unless the federal government substantially reduces spending.
“If we continue to spend much more than we take in,” Gregg says.
“We’ll double our debt in five years and triple it in 10 years and essentially be where Greece is in about seven years,” Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the ranking Republican member of the House Budget Committee, made these statements in regard to the deficit spending.
“We’re on this trajectory where we will have more takers than makers in society.
We’re going to have more people taking from government than living on their own, paying taxes and contributing into it.
That is a dangerous position to be in, that’s the position Greece is in.”

US ready may become world’s highest corporate taxer
http://blogs.reuters.com/james-pethokoukis/2010/06/14/us-ready-may-become-worlds-highest-corporate-taxer/
The US has the second highest corporate tax rate among advanced economies. But maybe not for long.
Scott Hodge of the Tax Foundation finds this peculiar:
On the same day that Japan’s Nikkei business daily is reporting that the Japanese “government is aiming to cut tax on company earnings by five percentage points next fiscal year,” the Wall Street Journal is reporting that “Democrats are trying to boost their political fortunes ahead of this year’s midterm elections by attacking corporate tax rules they say encourage U.S. multinationals to send jobs overseas.”
What the US should be doing is putting a long-range deficit reduction plan into place and then boosting growth through cuts in corporate and capital tax rates.

St. Anthony of Padua
“The Medieval Fish”
Selected from I Fioretti of St. Francis of Assisi, chap. 40
http://www.traditioninaction.org/religious/h006rp.Fishes_OReilly.html
[....]
Hearing these words and teachings of St. Anthony, the fish opened their mouths and bowed their heads, and with these and other signs of reverence they glorified God as much as was in their power. Then, St. Anthony, seeing the great reverence of the fish towards God their Creator, rejoiced greatly in spirit, and said in loud voice:
“Blessed be the eternal God, for the fishes of the sea glorify Him more than the men without faith, and the animals without reason listen to His word with greater attention than the sinful heretics.”
As St. Anthony continued to preach, the multitude of fish increased, and not one left the place it occupied.
The news of this miracle spread and the people of the city made haste to go and see it, including those hardened heretics we have spoken of above. The latter, seeing so marvelous and manifest a miracle, were touched in their hearts, and looked for St. Anthony to hear his words.
***
I’d never heard this aspect of the story of Anthony of Padua.
The Catholic church in Rocky Point, NY is named after him and also my Grandfather Anthony indirectly.
My parents, grandparents and extended family were instrumental in bringing the new church to the area.
And our parish priest, who lived with us, asked my father what he thought the new church should be named.
My father said it would mean a lot to his mother if the church was named after his father, Anthony.
So Anthony of Padua it was.

Pearce bill would target Arizona ‘anchor babies’
Under potential law, children born in U.S. to illegal immigrants wouldn’t be citizens
http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/061410_anchor_babies_law
Sen. Russell Pearce, who authored Arizona’s controversial new immigration law, now wants to deny citizenship to so-called “anchor babies.”
Citizenship is granted to children born in the U.S. – even to illegal immigrants, according to the Constitution.
But Pearce told Time Magazine that the 14th Amendment has been “hijacked” by illegal immigrants.
“They use it as a wedge,” he said.
“This is an orchestrated effort by them to come here and have children to gain access to the great welfare state we’ve created.”
(The “great welfare state” created by Dems in order to hold onto power.)
Oklahoma Republican Randy Terrill is working on a similar bill for his state.
“Currently, if you have a child born to two alien parents, that person is believed to be a U.S. citizen,” Terrill told NPR.
“When taken to its logical extreme, that would produce the absurd result that children of invading armies would be considered citizens of the U.S.”
A similar bill is working its way through Congress.
Several European countries do not grant birthright citizenship, but about 30 countries do.

The U.S. Council of Mayors approved the resolutions “by voice vote” during a conference in Oklahoma City.

Resolving the Obama eligibility question
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=166569
So if, in fact, the Democratic National Committee knowingly certified a candidate for the November ballot who was ineligible to serve, what are the possible alternatives?
Is it possible, as some suggest, that we simply ignore the constitutional requirements of Article II, Section 1?
In a Dec. 8, 2008, discussion of the congressional certification process, Edwin Viera Jr., Ph.D., J.D., a leading authority on the Constitution, argues, “… the question of Obama’s eligibility vel non is not within the discretion of Congress to skirt or decide as its Members may deem politically or personally expedient.
“Even by unanimous vote, Congress cannot constitutionally dispense with the requirement that Obama must be ‘a natural born citizen,’ by simply assuming that he is such, or by accepting what lawyers refer to as the ‘best available evidence,’ (Obama’s published certification of live birth, versus a certified Hawaiian birth certificate).”
But what if the members of Congress fail in their responsibility?
Dr. Viera argues that, if no objection is made on the basis that Obama is not a natural born citizen … “the matter cannot be said to have been settled to a ‘constitutional sufficiency’ (emphasis added),” because Congress has no power to simply waive the eligibility requirement.
[....]
The most likely answer lies in the Nixon model, in which leaders of his own party would go to the White House to demand Obama’s resignation.
In Obama’s case, that is unlikely to happen until a substantial majority of Americans become convinced that he is a usurper and his approval rating drops below 20 percent.
(“unlikely to happen” period.)
Then, and only then, can we expect Democrats, in the interest of protecting their own careers, to demand that he leave.
And that will occur only after some courageous American, such as Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, is able to force Obama to produce his bona fides.

YEAH, let’s see if he’d mind submitting a sworn, signed, and witnessed affidavit to the court, under threat of perjury, attesting to everything he’s claimed.
I submitted affidavits to just about every eligibility lawyer there was, beginning on August 22, 2008 with Phil Berg, followed by Taitz, Keyes, Kerschner, Thomas, Kreep, Apuzzo, and Hollander.
BTW, I’ve already said a dozen times that Hawaii has no long-form birth certificate for Obama showing his birthplace as Hawaii.
Guess I should have also said I was a Hawaii elections official.
More importantly, however,
No government official in Hawaii has ever confirmed that Obama has a long-form birth certificate with his birthplace as Hawaii.

Hawaii elections clerk: Obama not born here
http://my.auburnjournal.com/detail/152235.html
“I had direct access to the Social Security database, the national crime computer, state driver’s license information, international passport information, basically just about anything you can imagine to get someone’s identity,” Adams explained.
“I could look up what bank your home mortgage was in.
I was informed by my boss that we did not have a birth record [for Obama].”
(No “birth record” ? Then what do they have? And what have various Hawaiian government officials been saying they have?)
At the time, there were conflicting reports that Obama had been born at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, as well as the Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children across town.
So Adams says his office checked with both facilities.
“They told us, ‘We don’t have a birth certificate for him,’” he said.
“They told my supervisor, either by phone or by e-mail, neither one has a document that a doctor signed off on saying they were present at this man’s birth.”
To date, no Hawaiian hospital has provided documented confirmation that Obama was born at its facility.

Adams is now trying to distance himself from the white supremacists hosts of the radio show.
However, in neither of these, nor in his interview with WorldNetDaily, does Adams say what he saw or failed to see, and what he based his opinion on.
If he actually claimed to have queried any of those federal databases about Obama, he would be admitting to a federal crime (Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1030(a)(2)(B) and 1030(c)(2)(A)) and could face up to a year in prison and a $10,000 fine.

President Obama’s Words vs. Actions
Monday , June 14, 2010
By Glenn Beck
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,594643,00.html
One last comparison: The president is out looking for some “ass to kick” and he’s outraged.
Yet, three days after the Gulf explosion, the Dutch government offered ships and state of the art equipment.
The administration said thanks, but no thanks.
Back on May 5, the administration announced that 13 international offers of help had been received and that decisions on what to accept would be made “in the next day or two.”
Two weeks later, the State Department said the government saw “no reason” to accept any of the offers.
Now the president is saying it’s an emergency. Really? Well, why did you turn down the help?
In order to accept the foreign help, Obama would have to do exactly what George W. Bush did immediately after Katrina hit: Waive the Jones Act.
It requires basically that all commercial acts conducted in U.S.-controlled waters be performed by U.S.-flagged ships, constructed in the United States, owned by U.S. citizens and crewed by U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.
What possible logical reason would there be to call for all hands on deck in the biggest environmental emergency in the history of our country and then not sign this waiver?
Is it possible that this administration is so in bed and beholden to the labor unions — who are complaining they’d lose jobs — that they are doing another favor for the unions?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OBAMA: I’ve spent my entire adult life working with SEIU. I’m not a newcomer to this.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
No, seriously, don’t worry. The president is definitely looking out for you.
He’s not putting SEIU first over you and health care.
He’s definitely not putting the dockworkers ahead of the environment or the fisherman in the Gulf spill.
It seems like the president already has his mind made up about a lot of things: CEOs, typical white people, Arizona cops, Cambridge cops and policies like cap-and-trade.
And once the president’s mind is made up, you aren’t going to change it.
Unless you are a dictator who wants to destroy Israel — here’s Ahmadinejad:
“We ask the West to remove what they created 60 years ago and if they do not listen to our recommendations, then the Palestinian nation and other nations will eventually do this for them….
Remove Israel before it is too late and save yourself from the fury of regional nations.”
Yes, then we could talk. And maybe he’ll listen to you.

A little more inflation or a little more socialism?
http://www.themoneyillusion.com/?p=5657
[....]
Just as in the 1930s, the right seems to have decided that a little bit of socialism is better than a little bit of inflation.
What do I mean by a little bit of inflation?
I mean enough so that the post-September 2008 trend rate of inflation is the same as the pre-September 2008 trend rate of inflation.
Apparently even that little bit of inflation is more distasteful than massive government intervention in the economy.
And the irony is that many of the policies I describe, such are Fannie and Freddie propping up the housing market, unemployment insurance extensions, and trade barriers, are themselves slightly inflationary.
But they don’t just raise the price level, they also cause all sorts of distortions—they move prices away from their free market equilibrium.
(I’m looking at you Morgan.)
The even greater irony is that this isn’t even one of those pick your poison cases.
The inflation I am calling for would be nothing more than a continuation of the inflation that occurred in the previous two decades.
We’d want it even if we hadn’t had a housing crisis and recession.
I don’t recall conservatives complaining loudly that 2% inflation was a disaster when Clinton was president.
So why the sudden and hysterical opposition to 2% inflation?
Is that really a fate worse than socialism?
[....]
… when I get upset at “Those People,” I am thinking about the Congressmen who created Fannie, Freddie and the CRA.
And yes, I know that the CRA was only a minor factor in the crisis, but everyday it becomes clearer that Washington’s attempts to enlist Fannie and Freddie into their crusade to make every American a homeowner lies at the center of this crisis.
Indeed the misdeeds of the “too-big-to-fail” banks (and their associated bailout with TARP funds),
now comes in a distance third (or fourth if you include the Fed),
far less costly to taxpayers than even the misbehavior of smaller banks that exploited the incompetence of the FDIC.
The experts say we can’t eliminate F&F right now, and I suppose they are right.
But only because we don”t have a monetary policy that stabilizes NGDP growth expectations.

Wonder if the MSM paying attention to the “mystery” of South Carolina will be inclined to dig into Harry Reid’s black ops in Nevada?

Illinois Downgrade, Tax Decline Weigh on $500 Million Bond Sale
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-06-15/illinois-downgrade-tax-decline-weigh-on-500-million-bond-sale.html
Illinois, whose projected deficit equals half its proposed $25.9 billion budget, plans to sell $496.7 million of debt backed by sales taxes today after two rating cuts and as consumers unexpectedly curbed buying in May.
The bonds, funded with the state’s 80 percent portion of sales taxes, carry the top rating from Standard & Poor’s and AA+ from Fitch Ratings, the second-highest.
That’s better than the state’s grade on general-obligation debt, which is supported by overall revenue.
Both Fitch and Moody’s Investors Service cut the rankings on those securities one level this month as lawmakers failed to close a $13 billion revenue shortfall in the budget proposed for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
Even with their top rating, the sales-tax-backed securities may suffer because they carry the name of Illinois.
[....]
Sales Tax Lien
The tax-exempt credit is stronger than a typical general obligation of the state, since there’s a lien on the sales tax revenue before it enters the general fund, said Mitch Kapnick, managing director of municipal securities at Cabrera Capital.
Sales tax collections rose 7.6 percent from a year earlier in April and 6.2 percent in May, according to the Illinois comptroller.
“Unfortunately, it’s being tainted by the problems the state is having,” he said.
(So Obama wants us to bailout Illinois?)

Congressman Paul Ryan spoke with 1130/WISN’s Jay Weber to highlight the lessons from the ongoing European debt crisis.
Ryan and Weber also discussed the Obama Administration’s efforts to exploit the BP tragedy and impose a costly energy tax on Wisconsin families.
“The debt crisis playing out in Europe demonstrates the failure of the welfare state.
The European debt crisis provides a cautionary tale that we cannot go down this path of erecting a cradle to the grave social welfare state — it is not sustainable and it is crashing their economies.
The European model results in lower economic growth, fewer jobs, and less prosperity
We’ll have fewer Americans working for themselves, remaining independent so they can reach their full potential.
You don’t want a society where a majority of people are takers instead of makers.”

David Petraeus collapses
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0610/38548.html
At the hearing’s outset, McCain called the current situation in Afghanistan possibly a “mounting crisis,” and he called on the president to scrap his current timetable for withdraw.
“It’s time for the president to state unequivocally that we will stay in Afghanistan until we succeed,” McCain said.
In questioning Petraeus, McCain zeroed in on an Oval Office exchange from Jonathan Alter’s recent book, “The Promise,” that describes the tussle between the military and the White House over changing the Afghan strategy.
President Obama reportedly told Petraeus, “If you can’t do the things, say, in 18 months, then no one is going to suggest we stay.”
While Petraeus said he would not comment on executive office conversations, he remained adamant that the current situation in Afghanistan today is not what it may be in a year and that he supports the president’s policy.
Levin had previously drilled into the question of timelines, following up on Petraeus’s response that he supports the president’s time line to ask, “is that your best personal, professional judgment?”
“Uh,” the general said, pausing for a moment,
“In a perfect world, Mr. Chairman, we have to be very careful with timelines.
We went through this in Iraq as you recall, and I did set a timeline ultimately in Iraq … based on a projection of conditions that would be established,” Petraeus said.
“We are assuming that we will have those kinds of conditions that would enable that by July 2011.
That is what is projected
And that is again what we have supported.”
“Is that a qualified yes, a qualified no, or a non-answer?” Levin asked.
“A qualified yes,” said the general.

Hawaii Election Clerk Says Obama Not Born Here ~~
“Tim Adams made his claim on a PRO-WHITE radio show hosted by a man named James Edwards during a broadcast from the Council for Conservative Citizens (the CCC that got Tom DeLay in trouble).
The Council states on it’s on web site that members oppose all efforts to mix the races of mankind to promote non-white races over the European American and to force the integration of the races.
You are quoting White Supremacists about a Black President?

Hawaii elections clerk hits YouTube
Features WND story exposing allegations Obama birth certificate doesn’t exist
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=165673
The WND report cites statements from Tim Adams, a college instructor who worked as a senior elections clerk for the city and county of Honolulu in 2008, that Obama definitely was not born in Hawaii as the White House claims.
[....]
WND confirmed with Hawaiian officials that Adams was indeed working in their election offices during the last presidential election.
“His title was senior elections clerk in 2008,” said Glen Takahashi, elections administrator for the city and county of Honolulu.
Takahashi also confirmed Adams’ time frame at the office from spring until the month of August.
However, when WND asked Takahashi if the elections office could check on birth records, he said, “We don’t have access to that kind of records. [There's] no access to birth records.”
Adams responded, “They may say, ‘We don’t have access to that.’ The regular workers don’t, the ones processing ballots; but the people in administration do. I was the one overseeing the work of the people doing the balloting.”

Election official: I’d testify President Barack Obama not born in Hawaii reports WorldNet Daily
http://lecanadian.com/2010/06/16/election-official-i%E2%80%99d-testify-president-barack-obama-not-born-in-hawaii-reports-worldnet-daily/
Adams, 45, stressed, “In my professional opinion, he definitely was not born in Hawaii. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that he was not born in Hawaii because there is no legal record of him being born there. If someone called and asked about it, I could not tell them that person was born in the state.”
WND confirmed with Hawaiian officials that Adams was indeed working in their election offices during the last presidential election.
“His title was senior elections clerk in 2008,” said Glen Takahashi, elections administrator for the city and county of Honolulu.
Adams oversaw a group of 50 to 60 employees and was responsible for verifying the identity of voters, especially absentee voters.
He now expects his former co-workers still working in the elections office to say little, if anything, about the non-existent birth certificate because they fear for their jobs.
“If you’re working in the civil service and you say this, you’re done,” Adams said. “Don’t expect to have a good career, especially since the governor is on the other side. Embarrassing them is not good for your career.”

$141b “Extenders” Bill to Fail Morning Test Vote (not cloture); Scaled-Back Bill to Come Forward
Posted By Trish Turner On June 16, 2010 @ 9:31 am In Congress | No Comments
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has sought and was granted approval by Republicans to do away with Wednesday’s cloture vote on the extenders bill. It would have failed anyway – this was conceded to by his own staff and members of his caucus.
The biggest concern? The nearly $80 billion that would have gone straight to the deficit.
There WILL be a kind of test vote Wednesday morning, though, that will fail to get 60 votes, so Reid can show liberals in his caucus and outside groups that he doesn’t have 60 votes (read more info on that here [1]).
It will be a “budget point of order” vote — put in simple English: a YES vote means you agree that the budget should be set aside and the deficit increased with so-called “emergency” spending [2].
In short, the current $141 billion bill put together by Reid and Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., will be PULLED — i.e., it will be dead.
We’ll see a replacement bill come forward that has scaled back benefits and has more items paid for — less deficit spending.
Look to a provision [1] by Sen. Jon Tester,D-Mont., to be included that trims back unemployment insurance checks.

The federal government is now telling American citizens to stay out of three southern Arizona counties. It is too dangerous because of armed smugglers from Mexico.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu: Quite frankly I’m telling you as a sheriff that we don’t control that part of the county. My county is larger than the state of Connecticut and we need support from the federal government. It’s their job to secure the border and they haven’t done it. In fact President Obama suspended the construction of the fence.
FOX News reporter: Would you like to see some of the president’s outrage about the oil spill and some of the butt-kicking that he’s talked about doing applied there on the border as well?
Sheriff Paul Babeu: Even with that, you say one thing and then you’re out at a fundraiser in California and you don’t go to the funeral of the people who died in the explosion. You know its one thing to say something slick on television in a ten second soundbite but we need action. And, it’s shameful that we as the most powerful nation on earth can win wars and liberate countries throughout history yet we can’t even secure our own border.

Turning Fiction Into Reality
By Glenn Beck
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,594722,00.html
Did you know that Ayn Rand, author of “Atlas Shruugged,” had a hard time getting a publisher in America for her book “The Anthem”?
One publisher rejected it on the grounds that the author does not understand socialism, which is particularly funny because she was born in St. Petersburg.
She was 12 years old the revolution of 1917 broke out. She was there when it happened and violence took place right in front of her.
She lived there until she was in her 20s. She saw the brutality of communism.
You’d think the media would love a success story like this, but Ayn Rand was soundly mocked in the media.
Even after achieving success, she was still routinely bashed by critics.
Here’s what the media elite thought of “Atlas Shrugged”:
• “Not in any literary sense a serious novel” — The New York Times
• “Somebody has called it: ‘Excruciatingly awful.’ I find it a remarkably silly book. It is certainly a bumptious one. Its story is preposterous.” — Whittaker Chambers
• “As an instrument of propaganda, this book is a moderate success; as a work of art, it is a noble failure” — Portsmouth Star
• “1,168 Pages of Soap Opera Philosophy and Propaganda” — The Savannah News
Just how strange were the concepts in it?
Let’s see: The book focuses on how politicians respond to crises — many times created by themselves — by creating new government programs, laws and regulations.
She wrote in “The Voice of Reason”:
“One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary.”
Is that not happening today?
How many times have you heard “capitalism has failed”?
She also showed how politicians would dress their redistributive legislation in happy sounding names. Sound familiar?
Tell me which ones are from the book and which one is real:
• “Anti-greed Act”
• “Emergency Economic Stabilization Act”
• “Equalization of Opportunity Act”
Clearly, Ayn Rand had no idea what she was talking about.

But my favorite:
We — a dystopian novel by Yevgeny Zamyatin
http://rosettasister.wordpress.com/2008/12/04/we-a-dystopian-novel-by-yevgeny-zamyatin/

Arpaio to launch 16th crime, immigration sweep
http://www.kswt.com/Global/story.asp?S=12655784
PHOENIX (AP) – Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he plans to launch his 16th crime and immigration sweep on July 30, the day after Arizona’s new immigration law is set to take effect.
The sheriff’s office hasn’t revealed where it will conduct the sweep.
During the sweeps, deputies flood an area of a city – in some cases heavily Latino areas – to seek out traffic violators and arrest other alleged lawbreakers.
Arizona’s new immigration law requires police, while enforcing other laws, to question a person’s immigration status if officers have a reasonable suspicion that the person is in the country illegally.
Critics who are challenging the law have asked a judge to block enforcement of the law before it takes effect July 28.

Important, Important, Important!!!
Andrew C. McCarthy on War, Politics and Media
http://www.rightsidenews.com/2010061610604/editorial/andrew-c-mccarthy-on-war-politics-and-media.html
ARONOFF: Oh, yeah, and then the second chapter you were going to say is what?
McCARTHY: Yes. The second chapter is this whole interrelationship between Obama and Kenya.
Obama’s father, as I said before, was a Communist, a Kenyan Muslim, and there was a-I noted that, in passing, there was a story in the Boston Globe about him a few weeks before the election, where it was mentioned he had written an article-they put it very gingerly-that was critical of Kenya’s economic planning, or something like that.
When I pulled the article-the article actually is called “Problems Facing Our Socialism.”
And when you read it, it’s clear that Obama, Senior is making a case for scientific socialism, or Communism, against the pro-American, pro-Western turn that the Kenyatta government made when it came to power, finally, in Kenya.
And it’s interesting that Obama, Senior aligned himself with the Communists who were led by his Luo tribe in Kenya by the Odinga family.
And the reason that’s so interesting is that when Obama was a sitting U.S. Senator, in 2006, while he didn’t do much to distinguish himself in the Senate, he did barnstorm for six days in Kenya, campaigning for Raila Odinga, the son of the man who the-I’m sorry, the Odinga that his father had known, back when.
Raila Odinga is, you know, a leftist.
I argue in the book that he’s a thug, given some of his-background.
Obama campaigned for him even though he was not only the leftist candidate, but the candidate that was really running against the pro-American incumbent administration,
*** and it later emerged that Odinga had made a deal with the Islamists in Kenya, who are not a majority but are a violent faction-he had made a deal with the Islamists to impose sharia law throughout parts of Kenya. ***
ARONOFF: Mm-hmm.
McCARTHY: When Odinga lost the election, the Islamists rioted, and in the aftermath thousands of people were displaced, many of them were killed,
and ultimately Odinga, in large measure, I think, because of the support he got from Obama, managed to get himself installed as Prime Minister of Kenya, which basically was a position they had to create for him.
No one since Kenyatta had been Prime Minister of Kenya.
So I just think the-the Kenya chapter and the Pakistan chapter are fascinating.
They’re a real window on who-on things we would want to know about Obama but-
ARONOFF: Right . . .
McCARTHY: -unfortunately it’s a window with the shades drawn.

Kenya police hunt suspects over blasts
http://www.kbc.co.ke/story.asp?ID=64606
‘Explosive devices’
Meanwhile, a group of Kenyan churches and Christian groups is blaming the government for involvement in two explosions.
“Having been informed over and over that the passage of the new constitution during the referendum is a government project, we are left in no doubt that the government, either directly or indirectly, had a hand in this attack.
Who else in this country holds explosive devices?” said a statement signed by the National Council of Churches of Kenya and 14 other churches and groups.
Backers against the draft said the explosions would not deter their campaign, and the group of churches said they also held the ‘yes’ campaign to pass the new constitution responsible for the blasts.
“We therefore hold the government and the Yes team responsible for the attack and for the blood that was shed unless they prove to Kenyans that someone else planted and detonated the devices,” the group said.
(So “the Yes team” in favor of sharia. And Obama in favor of the Yes team? My blood is boiling!)

“an interesting Money Trail” ???
http://www.modernghana.com/news/280509/1/the-blowback-continues-from-africa.html
Recently Vice-President Biden made a trip to Africa on an Official Basis.
One of the stops was to South Africa where He attended the opening of the World Cup in football.
But He made another stop that has erupted in chaos after his departure and may have impact on another policy issue.
The City in question just happens to be the Capital of Kenya Nairobi.
The visit by Mr. Biden had three objectives.
The First goal was to pass on a message from President Obama to the Leader of South Sudan Salva Kiir.
Secondly there was an effort to address the deteriorating situation in Somalia.
Finally the visit was an effort to show the Support of the United States for passing the Draft Constitution that is currently being debated in Kenya.
Shortly after his departure there was a prayer rally in Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
This was organized by several Church Groups that are currently seeking to defeat the proposed Constitution.
Shortly before the rally was to disperse two explosive devices were detonated.
The resulting Stampede led to the deaths of seven people and the injuries to dozens more.
Already the blame game has begun in Kenya about who is responsible for this incident.
As noted on Confused Eagle there is an interesting Money Trail originating from the United States and going to Kenya.
The Administration is supporting the Draft by providing funds from the Agency for International Development to support this effort.
There is a clause in the Constitution that will provide for “ Access to Reproductive Health”.
To the Religious Right these are code words for Abortion.
Some of these groups here in the US have been supporting the effort to defeat the proposed Document.
It should be noted that the Siljander Amendment may be in violation in this case.
This Amendment stipulates that under no circumstances should US Foreign Aid be used at all in an Abortion Debate.
June 16, 2010 at 11:46 am
“Islamic Kadhi courts” — that’s sharia
Christian leaders oppose the draft constitution, as it retains recognition of existing Islamic Kadhi courts
and includes a clause that legalises abortion if the procedure is deemed necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman.
June 16, 2010 at 11:51 am
Christian Church leaders are campaigning for a “No” vote after an amendment to abolish abortion on medical grounds failed.
Supporters of the new constitution deny that it opens the door to legalised abortions.
Christian Church leaders also oppose the continued recognition in the draft document of Islamic family courts.
The Islamic Kadhi courts – set up under British colonial rule – mainly deal with matters of marriage and inheritance for Kenya’s Muslim minority.

Kenya’s Islamic courts are illegal and discriminatory, a panel of judges has ruled.
The three judges said the Islamic “Kadhi” courts favoured Islam over other faiths, and that this was unconstitutional as Kenya was a secular country.
The issue of Islamic courts has been a contentious point in the country’s new proposed constitution.
It is due to go to a referendum in August.
The Kadhi courts – set up under British colonial rule – mainly deal with matters of marriage and inheritance for Kenya’s Muslim minority.
The Christian church in Kenya brought the case to court six years ago.
As part of a power-sharing deal to end deadly riots following elections in December 2007, it was agreed that a new constitution would be written.

If “Islamic Kadhi courts” enshrined in new constitution, they will be legal!

Frequently Asked Questions on Contentious Issues in the Constitution Review Process
http://www.ncck.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=158:brochure&catid=55:publications&Itemid=108
16. Should Kenyans reject the draft constitution just because it has Kadhis Courts?
Yes. If you had a soda with a small amount of poison, would you drink it?
Let us not be deceived by people who either do not have the interest of Kenya at heart or are unable to see divisiveness of this issue.
If they are serious and want us to accept the new constitution, let them delete all references to the Kadhis Court in the constitution.
17. Is it true that the Bill of Rights shall not apply to Muslims?
Yes. Muslims are the only Kenyans who are allowed to violate the Bill of Rights.
Kenyans should not allow this to happen.
Let every Kenyan be equal before the law of the land and particularly the Bill of Rights.
18. If Christians succeed in rejecting the Kadhis Court, will the Muslims unleash violence?
No. Christians and Kenyans in general should not allow themselves to be manipulated and intimidated by the threat of violence.
Kenya is a democracy, Muslims must argue with ideas and the ballot box, not violence.
In any case, it is hoped that Muslims in Kenya are peace loving and will respect the decision of Kenyans.
The threat by some Muslim leaders to secede from Kenya is a matter that the security forces are able to handle.

Kadhis Courts? (Sharia Courts)
So Obama supports “the Yes team” on new Kenyan constitution, EVEN THOUGH these Kadhis Courts are still in there?
These courts were recently declared illegal, but they will become legal if new constitution passes.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer Blasts Eric Holder (And Others)
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=37516
“Everything constitutional that in fact they could ever talk about is in those other suits,” she told HUMAN EVENTS.
“I would much prefer for them [DoJ] not to file suit, given the fact that they could take the money and help me build a fence on my border.”
Overall, the Governor’s legal team is asking the courts to dismiss the lawsuits.
“I hope [Holder's] read [the law] by now,” Brewer said, “so that he knows what it exactly says.”
Brewer, who met with President Obama recently, said he tried to keep some distance from the immigration law.
“When I spoke with the President, he indicated that he wasn’t going to make much comment about the law..
He was going to leave it up to the Department of Justice to determine whether they were going to file suit or not.
It’s an interesting way of stating, ‘You know, I don’t want to get my fingers too deep in that because I know the public supports it.’
Asked what fellow governors facing similar problems with their borders and illegal immigrants are saying, Brewer mentioned that she has “certainly spoken with [Texas Republican] Gov. [Rick] Perry and [New Mexico Democratic] Gov. Richardson and Gov. Schwarzenegger with regard to it.”
*** “They, of course aren’t facing the problem that Arizona is because we now have been left as the gateway for all illegal immigration, drug cartels and gangs coming into the Americas.” ***
Brewer particularly singled out Schwarzenegger, recalling that “Arnold of course has stated publicly that he didn’t support it.
He is much different than I am with regard to that.
You know, we are a nation of laws and it’s illegal and that didn’t change his mind.
He figured that what he read in the paper was exactly what the bill said and we kind of left it at that.”

GOP Criticizes Withdrawal Plan as Undermining Afghanistan Efforts
http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?docID=cqmidday-000003684343
Senate Republicans on Wednesday attacked President Obama’s plan to begin withdrawing U.S. forces from Afghanistan in July of next year, saying that the United States was sending a self-defeating message to its allies in the region.
Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, the commander of all U.S. forces in the Middle East and Afghanistan, assured lawmakers that Obama’s July 2011 date signaled the beginning of a process of troop withdrawals whose pace would be determined by conditions on the ground.
“That is not the day when we look for the door and turn out the lights, but when a process begins,” said Petraeus, who resumed his testimony Wednesday.
He fainted from dehydration during testimony June 15.
“It would be helpful if your sentiments were shared by the president, the vice president and the national security adviser,” said Republican John McCain of Arizona, who cited Obama, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. , and national security adviser James L. Jones as saying that the July 2011 start of the troop withdrawal was “etched in stone.”
“Right now, we’re sounding an uncertain trumpet,” McCain said.
“Our allies in the region are convinced that we’re leaving.”

The Flying Saucers Are Real

Exopolitics – Phase 1 (1948-)
The Flying Saucer Conspiracy
http://www.exopolitics.org/Exopolitics-Journal-vol-1-1-Salla.pdf
The first approach is based on the systematic study of the best evidence available from UFO cases in order to formulate conclusions about the reality of the phenomenon, and the existence of a UFO cover up.
This approach involves seminal UFO researchers such as Donald Keyhoe who wrote a number of books identifying a political cover up of the evidence substantiating the existence of the UFO phenomenon as real, and of evidence supporting the ETH.
Keyhoe was an especially significant researcher, since he began as a skeptic.
As a consequence of his field investigations became convinced of the reality of the UFO phenomenon and the ETH.
Keyhoe did not use the term ‘exopolitics’ but choose instead to use the term ‘flying saucer conspiracy’ to highlight the hidden political and national security processes at work, keeping from the general public the truth of the ETH.
Keyhoe’s most important books displaying his implicit promotion of the exopolitics concept were The Flying Saucer Conspiracy (1955); Flying Saucers Top Secret (1960); and Aliens From Space (1973).
In these books, Keyhoe meticulously outlines how the various military departments and national security agencies are involved in a conspiracy at the highest level to systematically cover up evidence supporting UFO sightings and the ETH.
Keyhoe used a wide range of sources for his conclusions.
Using the friendships and networks from his military days, he was able to secure information ‘leaked’ to him by military officials concerning UFO sightings.
He also was able to access a great amount of data gained from field researchers who investigated sightings from civilians, military and the aviation industry.
Keyhoe also headed the National Investigating Committee for Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) in 1959 and meticulously based his exopolitical or “UFO conspiracy” ideas on the solid empirical evidence that had been discovered, but was systematically discredited, debunked or ignored by military departments, national security agencies and government institutions.
Keyhoe focused on various ways in which the truth about the UFO reports, especially of the giant UFO’s (or ‘motherships’) reported in 1953/54 might have led relevant US authorities to conclude that disclosure would cause widespread panic and loss of confidence in US military authorities.
This Keyhoe believes may be the real reason for the cover up.
In his final book, Aliens From Space, Keyhoe firmly identifies the CIA and U.S. Air Force as the two key institutions behind the cover up and responsible for discrediting UFO researchers and witnesses, and for sabotaging initiatives with Congress to have the UFO phenomenon seriously studied.
In particular, Keyhoe described events surrounding efforts by the National Investigations Committee for Aerial Phenomenon (NICAP) to initiate congressional hearings in 1961.

Bassett Taking UFO Disclosure Message to Australia
http://technorati.com/technology/article/bassett-taking-ufo-disclosure-message-to/
X-Conference organizer and Paradigm Research Group (PRG) executive director Stephen Bassett has announced that he will leave June 22 for a 35-day speaking tour of Australia to include twelve stops in eleven cities.
The principal sponsor of the tour is the Nexus Conference, produced by Nexus Magazine on July 24-26.
According to a June 1 press release issued by PRG, “advocacy for a political resolution to the UFO/ET issue, which began to coalesce in the United States in the mid 1990′s, has now become an international ‘Disclosure Movement’ seeking to end an official embargo of the truth regarding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.”
In 2006, Australia joined the list of countries that have been releasing government-held UFO files into the public domain.
That list now includes France, Britain, Denmark and Canada.
